One of the things I've always found unique about the song is, structurally, it's about him wanting to fix this broken relationship, but it is put through the framework of that being secondary to chasing events with a global impact.
Another thing I think of is, something you've said on numerous videos, I wonder what was left out. There are so many other events one might think about changing or preventing. There could easily have been another verse or two to the song, but the writer seemed to know not to let it go on too long.
