    new subscriber, thanks for taking the time to explain your mistakes, this will help a lot of beginners get their feet wet with solar. I too would be worried about animals, insects, and reptiles if and when you need to adjust your panels to a more secure location. Remember, shadows on any panel degrades the output so adjust your panels to avoid any shading. Looking forward to upcoming episodes. Cheers, Mark in Dallas, Texas

    i installed solar panels at my offgrid place a few weeks ago too. I have 4 x 475 watt ones, and 2 x 12v 200 amp hour batteries, its barely enough to keep the lights and laptops and music going. You can wire them in a combination of parallel and Series, i think it makes them more effective than having them in one long chain. Well done on getting it all working!

    • @83kaszas
      @83kaszas 3 дня назад +1

      Nope,it depends.Serial wiring for higher voltage/high voltage charge controller is always more efficient,much much better,unless there is partial shading.If a tree or something shades any panel partially,than low voltage charge controler and series/paralel wiring might be little but better.If i see in the video,there is no partial shade,so series connection on the panels are good. Just dont switch the polarity xDD

      @@alanhat5252 i agree,i dont know what chemistry you are using now,but if LIFEPO4,try to stick with those,if lead acid,use them a little more,and than dich them for LIFEPO4. 1:28 The poor cable at the bottom, ouch.
    The fear of connecting the cables the wrong way, was my major fear.
    You can easily check with a Multimeter. There is typically always a breaker between your solar panels and the rest of your system.
    Turn the breaker of, connect your cables like what you think is positive and negative.
    Now put your Multimeter on measuring voltage (V) and touch the metal tip of the red probe on the screw with the '+' of the breaker and the black/grey probe on the '-'.
    If the shown number is positive than you are indeed correct with your cables.
    If it has a minus in front of the number, than your are wrong und should change our cables!

    Great video........just finished watching and have a guess for your solar system.....the amount you collect each day will be different but i say between 20Kw a day and 30Kwh a day.....that is if you have batteries to store that much. building your own power system is addictive and after several years i am still growing my system and improving it as i have money to spend on it.

    Did you swapped the connectors when making the cables or did the inverter not come with one half MC4 connectors already wired/screwed from the factory?
    Your amateur mistake wasn't too serious considering that at Boeing a large group of professionals didn't realize for months that they were assembling the planes incorrectly, or worse still, they knew it and didn't care as long as they got paid.

    I know that in poorer country it is a chalange - but i recommend buying proper tools. Crimps and missmatching MC4 clones lead to weak connections which is a fire hazzard. A crimping tool and wire cutter is cheaper than a new house.

    You connected the solar panels to your inverter? Really? Your solar panels Must connect to the Charge Controller, not to the Inverter! The inverter should connect to the Battery Bank with a very Short cable with appropriate width and rating. Oh, ok ! I see you have a Solar Charger/Inverter. It's ok them ... but yes they must respect the polarity on the input. About the amount of electricity you get from the panels it should be More then enough to run a house with no problems depending of course on the management of energy. Turning off some appliances at night for example should make the system work like a charm. Running power appliances Only during the day is also a must.
