Matikhru ~ The Salt Village

Matikhru, located in the Meluri sub division, Phek district is a Salt producing village that has been passed down as community activity through the generations. Initially, the villagers struggled with systematic production of the Salt but with the intervention of EA in 2018, the villagers were not only able to restore and repair, but also innovate and strategically produce.
EA strives to support farmers in their indigenous places to stall migration to urban centres which is becoming rampant.

We do have Salt spring but we only drink after it boiled. And also we put a little in our cooking. It has many health benefits. Good to see them making solid salt👍
