- Replacing a faulty alternator with a new one on a 2015 Jeep Patriot equipped with a 2.4L engine. Replacement procedure is the relatively the same throughout 2007-2017 model Jeep Dodge Chrysler vehicles with the 2.0L and 2.4L Engines.
I feel like this would have been a great video if we could have seen anything. Really good descriptions of what you were doing, but it may as well have been a podcast. Gotta pick up some cheap shop lights from Harbor Freight.
This shit so funny😂😂😂
This is probably the best out of 20 video's I watched.....appreciate it.
Bout to attempt my own alternator swap on my jeep tomorrow, gonna watch this video like 10 times before I start lol. Lighting was definitely lacking but your descriptions give me confidence lol
Watching this after I just finished doing this job… what a pain to get out of there one of the hardest alternator jobs I’ve done
Btw, i think your lighting was good enough cuz thats about all that anyone is ever going to see anyway while out in the sunshine working on their car. I think the people complaining have just never tried video recording the work being done on a car before WHILE ALSO BEING THE ONE WORKING ON THE CAR. Very difficult to do.
I VERY MUCH APPRECIATED HOW YOU WERE STRAIT TO THE POINT ABOUT THINGS WITHOUT A LOT OF REPEATING YOURSELF LIKE MOST VIDEOS DO and i like that especially because they can play it back again however many times they want it repeated rather than waste everyone elses time by repeating it in your video cuz also we are not always seeking the same info from your video. Anyway, well done i say. Please keep future videos this way. Ty. 😊
This video helped me out a lot. I've changed a few alternators on other makes but this was the most work I ever had to do just to change an alternator.
Agreed
If you don't have that neat little pry tool for the plastic thingys that hold the sides of the bottom cover off, a router wrench will work just fine.
I used a pair of scissors lol
@Ciana_Baby that works too but if you pry them out carefully you can reuse them. Last time I went to an auto parts store for little plastic attachment thingies, they wanted like 7 bucks for a handful. Shysters.
9:13 shove the a/c compressor between the wheel and the wheel well, you will have a massive hole to pass the alternator out of and back in through… oh yeah your wheel is off… don’t remove the wheel or have a buddy hold it out of your way.
Aweseome video! 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿 You covered A to Z. If you can do it with one hand, I think I can get it done with two in about 9 hours! 😂 The difficulty is paying for the dog gone alternator. 😢 One thing, I would have tested the system before putting the cover and wheel back on.
OEM is 120 amp. I only see 115 amp or 145 amp online. Will these cause an issue? Any sources for decent prices? $350 is tough right now..
Advance auto $150 for 115 amp. good for my 2014, 2.0 patriot
I've done this before...about to do it again. Ugh, lol. Cheers from Alberta, Canada!
Just did this today. Thank you so much
Just changed out my alt. on a 2014 patriot 2.0. Advance auto $150 for 115 amp. The hardest part was getting it back in until i removed the oil filter and brought it in that way. Dont try and fit it back in the way it came out. total fail until i decided to change my oil in the process and remove the oil filter. Alternator when in with no problem.
Why don't you have some light on this so we can see what you're doing?
Great video, even with bad lighting!
Can't believe you have all the parts sitting on the trunk of that 65 Mustang 😮
Beautiful video about to do this for a friend and I know it's gonna be a pain in the dick.....but this video gives me a lot of hope thank you 😂
Why do you cut the part out that shows you put the alternator back in? The install is the biggest part of installing something, and you just cut it out.
Alternator comes out and goes in easy from behind the AC compressor when the the compressor is hanging like shown in the video.
Wish I could of seen more of what you are doing. Need better lighting. I'm trying to learn. But thank you .
Thank you, greatly appreciated.

Thanks for telling me the socket sizes! Not as easy to work on as your mustang! Oh, by the way, using your cool Mustang as a parts shelf?!!! Maybe you need new paint, anyway from a former Stang owner, Thanks agian.
The bracket on my ac compressor has four bolts and the fourth bolt is behind the bumper and a hose that blocks all my tools
I’m gonna start making these video where nobody can see and I just enjoy listening to myself talk I think
How did you get it back in??? I’ve been able to get to the old alternator, got it out after a while, but can’t get the new one in…
Keep trying!
What kind of alternator volt do I need for my 2011 Jeep patriot 2.4??
Appreciate your effort in trying to help and educate others my making a video tutorial, but when you watch it back and see that you literally cant see anything from your cameras lighting, you may as well of just scrapped the video.
I hired someone to do this job. What should I pay him ?
Thanks i did a job well done
I am lost when it comes to putting on the serpentine belt. Nothing I’m doing is working. Tensioner just loosens but no slack
You slid that alt back in there so easily I can’t get mine back in
Tensioner is a 15mm. Not 16mm
thank you!!
14:50 is vital and I wish the lighting was better😢 everything is legit
What tools recommended?
Dude. Thank you... I was about ready to shoot my jeep .
Bad ligth but good job, thanks
K-member? All I can see is black. Does your cell phone have a flashlight?
Ok the wrist part is getting the second bolt from the alternator out . Then the bracket,u need to know hoes it goes. Took me 7 hours to fix it
Beautiful workmanship but your lighting is not good investing some more snap-on lighting 👍 what mechanic to another
SOS!!!!! SOS!!!!
MAYDAY MAYDAY!!!
NEED IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE PLEASE!!!
The air pressure was released when my gf loosened a bolt on the ac compressor. So what do i do now about that happening??? 😮
Lucky for me my patriot doesn't have ac lol
