I remember the episode about Alzheimer's disease. I first saw it when I was a little girl. My granny was dealing with it and it made me aware of the reality. it taught me a lot,. important issues with tasteful sly humor. and here I am, an adult. and I appreciate the show only more and more. thank god they exist. thank then for being beautiful in their golden years. I hope to have as much joy in mine

This show has brought a lot of joy & laughter to me. During these times we all need this type of show.
I think I know all the episodes by heart, yet I'll never tire of this show. Their jokes keep being funny; they make me laugh again and again. Perfect script, unsurpassed acting. There will never be a sitcom like this, timeless, forever funny, bright.
It's a feel good show and we need that these days....
Laughter is always "feel good", it's the best medicine. I also agree that we desperately need it nowadays. These four women were incredible and the show one of a kind. Happy New Year to all and keep laughing with the Golden Girls.

My favorite line is when Rose/Betty White said Me too, I am healthy as a horse. When they were talking about lived to be 90. Now she is 94 still got her health and only main character who is still alive.
I thought the same thing perhaps happiness is the medicine the key which helps healthy lifestyles. Thr other three seemed a bit normal and depressed compared to Betty who was ready to smile anyday.
Are you basing it on their characters? Bea Arthur lived to be 88. Estelle Getty 85, They lived pretty advanced ages. Rue was the only one who had illness later in life.

Sad that the most loved one Rue had been ill.
Betty is perhaps is at ease thanks to her love to work and her love for animals.

The "hog" story was hilarious. Hogs trampled her wagon because they could smell the smoked ham. Reminds me of Green Acres (long, long time ago) and the pig who played Arnold had run away from home. The police were investigating (yes, they had to investigate because he was someone's son) and asked when the last time he was seen to which the "parents" replied
"well, he was watching television and a documentary on "How to Manufacture Bacon" came on television and he was out of his chair and out in the door in no time. So funny.
Arnold KICKED ASS! (Eva Gabor later confessed that he received more fan mail than anyone else on the show!)

I finally realized why Blanche's face looks younger, but she looks older...the "old lady hairdo." She was 52 when the series started...this season. Admittedly, I look younger than my age (no I'm not a snob...I've almost died 7 times, died on the 8th and am still here. 6 doctors...) Anyway...it's her hairstyle. Her face really doesn't seem to have any wrinkles at all.
