While Raul might not be one of the greatest players he definitely is within the most efficient/successful scorers. I cannot think of many players, no matter how great they are/were that can come close to his scoring skills. He was so successful, a real danger, he would take advantage of any situation, he would create the goal even in most difficult situations.

He was never the same player after he got appendicitis in 2003. But he did have a late resurgence at schalke and his final season at Real. I think his problem was he achieved so much success at a young age at club level. So he burnt out too when he got older. Very intelligent player
