Yeah, most of the time when something goes wrong he'll make a self-deprecating joke and then move on. I've never seen him get genuinely pissed off.

This was heartbreaking to watch live, although Jimmer laughed it off a couple minutes later.
Funnily enough, Jimmy was giving a lot of shit to Quirk for not using an H-Pattern. Quirk then crashed out on Lap 1 (which Jimmy blamed on him not using an H-pattern), and went on to play RBR instead. He then found out that Jimmy's H-pattern killed his car, paused the game, made fun of Jimmy, unpaused, and immediately binned his car lol

Yeah, I thought it was funny when it first happened, and I was considering grabbing the moments from the stream to clip them together. But the more I saw just how upset Jimmy was at being knocked out of the race for something not of his doing, the less funny it became, so I didn't do it.

I had this happen with my Fanatec shifter as well recently, but in Assetto Corsa and in ETS2. Make sure you have the latest drivers installed; this issue is listed as fixed with the driver that got released a few days ago.

Mines been doing this for years, updating drivers have never helped but I guess I’ll try it again, thanks.
Mine has also been doing this same thing for years, it's a legitimate defect in the design of the hall effect sensor design.
I’ve had this issue several times and never thought to check the drivers! Sure enough there is an update that does state it fixes mis-shifts on the CSS shifter. We shall see!
@jimmy i think you have the fanatec shifter, it’s known to “miss shift” after a while, all you gotta do is unplug it and take the 4 bolts off the top and touch the inside wall. There’s a very small bit of static electricity built up somehow, it’s not even enough to be a shock like touching a door handle but messes with the sensors. Carl Gosling did a video a couple years back and helped me out, hopefully it saves you some money! Cheers!

@@rossmaclean2 yeah they should fix the design, but they didn’t, so the options are go spend money on a different, better shifter after owning the fanatec one or try that fix that seems to work, wyd
that makes zero sense, static electricity doesn't build up like that. Also your fix makes no sense, if it truly was static electricity all you'd need to do is just touch the shifter to release it.
It's just the calibration is shit. Its not static build up. That post had few comments on how to correctly calibrate so it doesn't do it.
I never watch Jimmy live, but for some reason I tuned in for this race. This moment was really surprising for us as well.

I know the feeling of losing the transmission.
In one of my early online races in NR2003 I got my first pole. About a quarter of the way in the race I lose 3rd gear after a restart, I then quickly shift into 4th and continue on. Then several laps later another caution comes out, I slow down and downshift to 1st, I was still a rookie with manual transmission so didn't think to keep it in 4th. We go back to racing and as I shift up to 2nd, then try to skip 3rd and shift quickly into 4th, but I then lose 4th.
It was so unexpected both times bc it never happened to me before, I would've thought it happen on a road course, but I was at Thompson Speedway. And after 4 years of online racing I didn't lose a gear again, also only had one other pole, in which I gotten wrecked out in.
Those 4 years were some of the most fun, and intense, experiences I had in online play. Only 2 poles and 1 win, but many top 5's and hundreds of top 10's, so I think it was a good career.
NR2003 was, and is, a great game. I'm so happy I got to experience it when it was known as being the best sim at the time 🙂
Nr2003 was my 1st online race, 42 drivers into t1 ....carnage, but got me hooked on sim racing ever since
all the years ive watched jimmer ive never seen him physically get upset.
his IRL racing is bringing the absolute dog out of him, we love it.

My dude I just had a day like this at work. I really value you putting your emotions out there like this, because it legit helped me process my day a bit better and helped me remember that sometimes things just go to shit and that's just life and everyone has to deal with that moment sometimes. The moment just before he punches the wall is a feeling I know all too well. You think of exactly nothing for about a second before you are blinded by rage. Tough luck man.

This unfortunately is a very common problem that pops up whenever it wants to. Had to send my mine back this week after only a month of H pattern use.
The problem the fanatec shifters is that shiter pcbs on the side and the bottom get interference and it causes the mis-shifts .. just need to open it up and put electrical tape on the back of them and it completely fixes it.. mine did it from brand new. soon as the tape went on, its never done it again

POV: your gearbox decides to quit
I had this happen with my Fanatec shifter. I fixed it by putting a few strips of electrical tape on the hall effect magnet that sits behind the circuit board. The tape needs to be changed every year or so but otherwise it works.

Never a great feeling having your kit have an issue, especially when with race ending in consequences 🙁; but ultimately that shifter has been well used for years. Would be interesting to see whether all the other shifters people are mentioning, could actually put up with that much stress for that length of time 🤔

You accidentally put the 2nd gear. That happens when you're too much overconfident and relax your muscle when gear shifting. It Happened to a RUclipsr who drives in Euronascar and that costs him the championhip.

Careful man, I broke my hand punching a car lift during a bad work day. Never worth hurting yourself in that level of anger.
Fanatec shifters are known for this and nobody knows why. Mine does this every couple of months. The fix is to take the top half off, remove the hall-effect sensor board and clean it with rubbing alcohol. Nothing ever comes off but for some reason that fixes it for a couple months.
That strike was telegraphed pretty hard. If I was the wall I would've easily dodged and counter punched

I rarely catch Jimmer live and I happened to join this stream minutes before this happened. I felt really sorry for Jimmer, and judging from what chat was saying at the time this seems to be a common issue with that shifter he's using. There was a frustrated "fuck Fanatec" from Jimmer at one point

I was there when this happened. So, for those of you that don't know, this is a car that upshifts and downshifts without the clutch, so he's not trying to flex with what he's doing. His Fanatec shifter put him in second gear despite him moving it to fourth (you can see it do so a second time as he's trying to figure out what just happened) and this is an issue people have said occurs with Fanatec shifters once in a while. I can confirm this happens to me regularly, so when I play something that I know uses the H-Pattern, I just check in the control panel that it's all working fine. I blew an engine in Assetto Corsa once with the same issue, I think even the same gear, but my shifter was flicking between Neutral, 2, and 1 that did me in.

Same thing happened to me during a nascar race in iracing. Went to shift to 4th, hit 4th, but the shifter shifted to 2nd.
I get it a lot on the 2-3 shift. Go for 3rd, get 1st. The top row is much more susceptible.
