You can also put a filter housing on the intake plenum, or have a contractor do it if you don't know how. My furnace took a specific size and the previous homeowners had a HVAC contractor put in a filter housing that takes a 16x24 which is a regular size. There's some up front cost but might be worth it if the filters are more than $20 each. I get decent 16x24 filters for about $2.79.

Up on top behind the exhaust pipe. Real pain in the butt to get too. remove the panel behind the exhaust pipe.
