Not unusual in those days as there was no city bypass, if you were driving down the east coast, going through Edinburgh via princes street was your quickest option.
Astute observation. You are absolutely correct. The soulless cheap, flung together in 5 minutes buildings that have been built in the past 20 years have eroded the City's character. That is one aspect of the ruination of a once decent city.
@@derekporter7658 at first glance, these new buildings and development could literally be picked up and put down in any UK city. There's just no definitive 'Edinburgh' character in new buildings which is sad because it CAN be done. New builds in historic streets in Poland are able to have the appearance of 19th century buildings, why can't we!
I hate the changes to Waverley Station. It’s lost its old character. The Bus Station is the same. I used to pop into the little pub that was in the station.
Yes it's a league of immigrants if my tenement building is anything to go by I'm the only scottish homeowner in my tenement all renters no one speaks to one another such a soul less place yet back in the 70s it was all scottish families and elderly too all owners and happy in and out one another's houses terrible now all landlords putting anyone and anything in the flats oh and the junkies wow say no more!! Well seen goverment dont have to live with all these people unfair on scottish residents really!!

Too bad the enjoyment of this is so diminished by the watermark _dead center in the middle of the screen._
🙄
It doesn't bother me. You can hardly see it. Just be glad that someone's taken the time to upload this FREE clip for you....
❤️ Thanks for understanding, in the new videos I try to make it less visible
Edinburghs decline over the decades has been sad to see. Seems to be accelerating at a faster rate these past few years. It's become so soulless.

You’re just getting old.
It's a mess rubbish, potholes, broken pavements everywhere.
Edinburgh when it was still a Scottish city. Sadly, hardly any Scots in the place now. More like Poland.
Tell me you are a racist without tell me you are a racist 😂
Eastern Europeans, Africans, etc etc! Sad to see!

And the rest of the world is full of Scots. Emigration works both ways.
Spoken like a true Brit! Teal Scots welcome new people, embrace the diversity. People like you were whinging about Indians back then.
