- Barn hunt practice in Fallbrook, CA. Australian Cattle Dog “Tin Roof’s Special Edition Namaka RATN RATO RATS SEN ORT” aka “MYA” is on fire after maternity leave! She is all business. Please note that when Mya slips off the bale, she was not injured. When the Ray tube falls on the floor, the rattle was not injured.
We do our very best to not let the rat tubes go flying, get rolled and fall on the ground, or held vertically. We love our pet rats and would never harm them intentionally. The rats do not mind this game, and will go in the tube willingly on their own. They are unimpressed and unaffected when they return to their home.

I had a rat nest in my yard that I wasn’t able to get rid of for some time, and a few months ago I got a blue heeler/border collie mix and in the first few weeks she dug out all the rats and was able to kill the mother rat

I have a rat terrier chihuahua mix that spends her day finding real mice and snakes in our hay bales. No one taught her how. It's just something she does by instinct and to entertain herself. It"s a job she gave herself. There's no barking. She just grabs and shekes til her query is dead and then moves onto the next victim.
That is great! The good ones like to hunt on their own too. ❤

I had foot surgery when my heller was four months old. When I woke up, she had four dead rats around my desk chair, perfectly in a circle. Like a circle of death, she had brought to me. Soooo creepy
They will find anything and everything rodent related including snakes as well, my uncles dog saved my life from a rattlesnake

My German shepherd alerts me when he smells rats or mice in my garage or under my vehicles,no training needed.
I don't have a Blue Heeler. My dog is a cat-sized crossbreed of very obscure origins. Maybe Border Collie a long time back because she has a white chest and front paws. Otherwise she looks like a black capybara with pointed ears. We have a mouse plague here. She has disembowelled sofas, ripped the wiring out of TVs and freezer and destroyed the tubing drainage of the fridge. She destroyed the wall of a carriage house, (a clay building) digging out the doorframe and ultimately removing the door. She got stuck in the engine of my pickup. The list goes on... She has killed uncountable mice. I have never encountered any animal with such stamina and razor-sharp hunting obsession. Our house is suffering much worse destruction than any mouse could have caused. We love her to bits.
My dog is the same blue heeler.. chewed everything & destroyed my back yard furniture., couches & chairs to shreds. Told her no but they smart.. she would chew when we not watching grrr. These dogs are for the young for sure! Must be watched all times.. or you lose your precious walls, furniture, shoes. & patio furniture. $2000 of it.
Your dog needs alot of physical and mental stimulation. I have an Australian Shepherd that is also intense. If he doesn't get the stimulation he needs, he will transfer that need to always be working, to being distructice. They have to channel that intense energy they are bred for, out somehow. It shows as behavioral issues.

The live rat is in a capsule, for humane reasons, so they don't kill it.
