- The largest gathering of pacific nations in the world (FestPAC) came to a close this past week. Throughout the festival, I was able to meet and build relationships with some of our cousins from all over the moana. More than a festival, it felt like a long overdue family reunion. We shared culture, discussed the similarities and differences of our languages, and had some good laughs. Mahalo ia oukou no ka nana ana mai, ke aloha no!

It has been such an education to hear those brothers and sisters of Polynesia to share so many rich traditions to keep our culture alive and well. Thanks son for exposing us with this LIVE experience with such special people of Polynesia. It makes me feel so proud of my rich heritage from my father, your Papa. Many blessing to keep educating us in a sincere way and with the passion that you’ve Ben blessed with from above.
Awesome stuff 🤙🏾
This is awesome!
Mahalo🤙
I was surprised to find more familiarity with Tahitian than I initially expected being that as a Tongan/Samoan I'm from the Western Polynesian linguistic branch.
In Samoan poko can mean head but it usually is just used to say bald now and also can mean smart.
In Tongan pehe means to recall or to relate something depending on the context.
And then in Samoan pese is song relative to the Tahitian term.
Thanks for taking the time to talk to everyone,I enjoyed what the Cook Island NGO had to say about the importance of staying connected to our land. So true especially in the way the world is changing.
You should go to the Cook Islands if you haven't already. I was there a few years back to visit some friends I have their. Makes me think of what Hawaii was like back in the early 1900's. Hawaiian Airlines now has direct flights to the Cook Islands.
I haven’t but I got a couple of invites from some of them so I think I will one day. I heard about the direct flight! One less excuse I guess
Meitaki Maata from the Cook Islands. You must come and visit us one day soon. We stayed at Ohia Waikiki and Loved FESTPAC24 MAHALO NUI.
Mahalo ia oe. Thank you for the invitation. I had a few other invitations to go to the Cook Islands. I am seriously considering it. FesPac was incredible💯
Watched this whole video. Seems like a great time.
It was! I spent hours upon hours having conversations like these. I was in heaven💯
@@kaalala one day I’ll get to have those conversations.
