They really are one of the most gentle, loving, intelligent, loyal, beautiful and brave breeds of dog on the planet. They will give you SO much pleasure and rewarding times and cherished memories, but ALL you need to do is treat them kindly and with respect, and you will NEVER regret owning one of these awesome, amazing dogs. We've had our gorgeous 'Tonto' for nearly five years, and he is the perfect 'friend' and companion.
What's their typical life span? If people can extend their lives from eating fresh, healthy diets, why can't dogs do the same, with human intervention? Vets are likely as biased about what they know about nutrition as typical MDs are - next to nothing!

Their cells degrade faster than humans, this dogs typically live less than 10 years, just like new found land dogs (Newfies) there is nothing we can do unfortunally, which is a pitty, because this dogs so amazing, thats the most painfull thing for a person to get so emotionally attached to a dog, this dogs are incredibly intelligent... they become part of a family to a point almost forget its an animal... You resent a lot of things, but when they are gone, you really miss them.. Its sad.

The BMD is a "with" creature......wanting and needing to be "with" it's human companions......beside or on them....sharing their incredible affection every waking moment.....! A great, noble canine of the highest order.....!
Elijah Roush it just ends up that bigger live shorter lives, meaning that cells will divide faster giving greater chance of something going wrong with them, most common being cancer. But as the saying go’s, the good ones always go the quickest
