    I just just ran some LVR in my 20" Shilen barrel. I started with 28.6 gr and worked up to 31.3 in .3 gr increments. Temp was 66, RH 39.9, and DA 3724. This was with virgin Hornady brass that had been sized and run over a neck mandrel. The brass had NOT been annealed or trimmed. I did notice that seating tension varied. COAL was 2.25 and BTO was 1.688. Bullets used were 123 gr Lapua Scenars and 205M primers. Best ES and SD was at 29.8 gr where the ES was 6, and SD 2.3. Velocity mean at that charge weight was 2465 fps, with a group size of .87. A charge of 30.1 gr resulted in an ES of 18 and SD of 7.2. I plan to explore this area further after I anneal and trim the brass. At a charge of 31.3, ES was 24 and SD was 10, with a mean velocity of 2568 fps. That group was .5, which proves that even a blind hog gets an acorn now and then. Wind was only about 7 MPH but swirling. All velocity measurements were by Labradar. There were no signs of pressure. I'm not sure that I would venture much above 31.3 or 31.4 gr. It might be fine as a cold weather hunting load, but in our Arizona summer temps, it would likely not play well.

    Thorough and to the point. I’ll have to try the leverEvolution at some point when I can find some. I’m just putting together a 6.5 Grendel AR build. Thanks for sharing

    Probably not good for my rifle, but i pull the 100 grain fmj bullets from steel case wolf ammo, and replace it with a 123 grain hunting bullet. Sst, or speer gold dot. Surprisingly, they shoot around an inch at 100 yards from my 18 inch psa at 2550 fps. I use it hog hunting, and dont have to worry about losing brass.

      When wolf was cheap that seems like a good idea but with wolf being about $1 a round it seems expensive

      @ammoiscurrency5706 that's right. When my stockpile runs out, it will be better to start collecting brass.

    Brass looks smashed pretty good like they running a bit hot for sure. I didn't catch how many firings you said were on them. Run'em til you split'em😂

    If you are going to use this in competition, 28.0-28.5 8208 XBR and suspect the 123s will like the high end of it. I'm running 123 SMKs with 28.5gr of 8208 XBR and have ran it out to 1100 yds successfully. I'm getting 2540 fps, although I'm using 450s. You may get less with the 400s.

      This right here ^ never fails to excel. Be careful of pressure spikes over 28.0 grains. Watch it closely in spite of the fact this powder combo likes to be pushed. Your best groups will be on the upper end.

    Damn it man if you're wanting to get rid of the primers you could always send them to me I'll send you my info!!! LOL Just ordered 3lbs of LeverEvolution and 2 lbs of Accurate 4350 for my Grendel and Creedmoor. I've never shot any of the Accurate powders or LeverEvolution and I'm not getting the velocity I'd like to see out of the IMR 4451or 8208 XBR powder I have so figured I'd see if I could squeeze out any more with the Accurate 4350 and LeverEvolution for hunting rounds... I love the channel brother and great video as always!!!

    I would step the breaks on that load. If it’s punching primers in cold weather, it might do worse in hot weather.

    • @RobsReloading
      @RobsReloading  3 года назад +2

      I 100% would not use these loads in warmer weather. Part of the reason I went this high is the weather conditions.

    The Alexander loading data I looked at said to use the small magnum primers, did you notice a difference with the 400's vs the 450's?

    I’m wondering if your first shot was a flyer, perhaps due to a cold barrel. Not sure if you experience that a lot or not, as I just found your channel today. The spread and standard deviation makes me think that could be developed into a good load with some micro adjustments on bucket seating.

      Could be a cold bore shift. I don't see a lot of shift usually with any of my guns, but it's always a possibility!

    Will probably break the bolt lugs if you shoot a lot of those hot loads and that will bring you to a screeching halt

      @RobsReloading  2 года назад

      Always carry an extra bolt lol. But yeah you have to be extra cautious with the grendel because it is only a 52k psi round.

      @@RobsReloading try ar comp start around 26 grains and work up I found it to be quite accurate with eld-m 123s and useful to 1000 yes at 1126 ft altitude

    Quite anemic velocities... I run N133 and 123 scenar in my 20" howa mini and get 2460, and thats an avrage load.
    Is GRT not accurate with that powder i wonder, it gives me 2600-2650 with 30.5 grain leverEvolution.
    But I feel the 100 grain BTHP is better suited for long range, you get up to 300-350 fps more velocity and the BC is marginaly lower.

    • @RobsReloading
      @RobsReloading  3 года назад +3

      You also have to consider leverevolution is a very temperature sensitive powder. I am shooting these loads in the middle of winter. That in my opinion is the only reason I was able to work up this high. In warmer temperatures the loads would need to be significantly less and very well may generate similar velocities. At 90F this load would likely be something absurd like 2650 or 2700 and likely shear a bolt lug and destroy the brass.

      @@RobsReloading Agreed: in my 20" SixFiveArms barrel in 75 deg weather 31.4gr of LVR produced an avg of 2626fps w/Sd of 10fps and roughly 1 MOA at 125 yds. Seating depth about 2.258", CCI 450 primers and HDY brass @ 37.2gr H2O capacity.
      BTW, I used GRT to develop my ladder with and I agree that the temperature coefficient for this powder needs more qualification and have adjusted the burning rates from 'stock'.

    New to reloading would these loads be safer in a bolt gun?

    • @RobsReloading
      @RobsReloading  2 года назад +3

      There is no way to predict for sure, however bolt gun would likely tolerate loads at max pressure better than an AR. If you are new, follow published loads, start at least a grain or 2 below the published max and work up slow.
