Biggs Killer Whales in Saanich Inlet

  • These are inner coast Biggs Killer Whales (orcas). This one-minute sample of calls are from nearly an hour of inner coast Biggs orca calls recorded on ONC's Ocean Sonics icHF hydrophone deployed at 95m depth at the Saanich Inlet node. These calls are unusual in that Biggs orcas are usually silent and orcas rarely venture into Saanich Inlet.

      Hello, thanks for your question! The audio was not edited in any way to increase the density of the calls; the density of the calls in this example are as they were originally recorded.

      Fortunatly I speak whale. They saying: Dude what the fuck is this device? They're recording us or what? and similar quotes and if you listen very carefully you can hear some swearing in the background between 2 whales
