'Why would we not use the atomic bomb on Germany?' Beacause by that point Russian troops (who were on Americas/'the good guys') side were already planning to attack Germany and had troops ready to invade and attack Germany. You nuke Germany you would also be nuking and killing tens of thousands of soilders who are on your side. And Japan/Germany were both on the same side as they both needed allies and friends at the time. 'Enemy of my enemy is my friend' and all that, and while Germany had plans to attack, invade and take over all of Europe Japan had plans at the time to attack, invade and take over all of asia. They shared similar plans, and needed help and friends.

Germany did try planning to take uk that’s why Germany let bombs off all over the uk and tried bombing our factory’s and boat docks to stop supplies and equipment being made (this was a tactic they used to take another country and it worked so they tried it on us to try starve us out and to not have no supplies) but it didn’t work because Britain had the most powerful airforce and most German airplanes would get shot down by our planes so hitler stopped bombing uk and decided to not invade as it would of been to much of a problem

I highly recommend the oversimplified videos to explain how WW2 started and how Hitler rose to power. They have videos covering this. The WW2 ones include why Japan had beef with the U.S. (shock, it was the U.S and Europe's fault)
They have 2 videos dedicated to WW1 (part 1 and 2) to how WW1 began (I believe you have already reacted to part 1).
Vladimir Putin is the current president of Russia. Stalin was the leader of Russia (then the Soviet Union) at the time. I think you're getting confused with Valadmir Lenin (the founder of the Soviet Union who became leader after the Russian Revolution and towards the end of WW1). He did go bat shit crazy too.
All three allied leaders (Churchil, Stalin, and FDR) did defeat the Nazis but they were all deeply flawed in their own rights too. Churchill was extremely racist towards Indians (India was under British rule at the time), Native Americans, Palestinianians and black people. Stalin was a murderous dictator who killed his own people and FDR built internment camps for Japanese people in the U.S. and locked them up. We should praise the good they did but don't ignore the sometime horrific acts they were responsible for.

Stalin was the Russian president during WW2. Nuclear weapons were not really ready to use until late in the war and conventional fighting was achieving the desired result for the allies. France was invaded on D-Day but it wasn't France as such, it was part of Hitler's empire so we were really invading Germany as part of the fighting. The nuclear attack on Japan was dreadful but the Japanese culture did not readily accept surrender so it was felt that it would prevent a long drawn out war in the far East with potentially even more deaths than the bomb achieved and indeed did have a pretty immediate result. They didn't really understand the longer term problems of nuclear missiles which is why they so rashly kept doing nuclear missile testing after the war resulting in many service people dying of cancer.

The Germans won the war with France through the Ardennes maneuver. It was thought to be impossible to drive tanks through the Ardennes, a mountainous forest land, and had the allies knew he was doing it they could have destroyed his entire army right there and we'd have a stereotype about Germans being stupid at war rather than amazing at it. Instead it was thought impossible and so they placed all their defences and army in the plains northwest of it. Had they attacked the Allied Army there they probably would have been defeated too.
Instead, they rolled through the Ardennes and around behind the allies and then surrounded them by attacking the front too, cutting off their supply routes and appearing behind their defensive line. The British began to evacuate into the sea at this point as it was the only route left to them while the entirety of France was left open to the rest of the German army to pour through now that the French army was surrounded and pinned in place.
To maneuver through the Ardennes in secret they needed no air support as it would alert the Allies as to what they were trying. As such if it was discovered you'd have a large army marching single file through a narrow path and no air support, ripe for completely destroying.

  • @rogerwitte

Germany's initial success was due to 'Blitzkrieg' - surprise attacks so quick that they had already won before the other side was ready to start fighting. However, in the end Germany surrendered before the atomic bomb was ready to drop. I suspect that President Franklin D Roosevelt knew that he couldn't get the American public to back fighting a war when America wasn't under attack. It seems strange to me that entire American fleet (mostly antiquated) was moored in Pearl Harbour for a couple of weeks, but all the modern aircraft carriers sailed away the day before the Japanese fleet arrived ... I cannot prove anything but I think FDR was arranging to lose a battle so he could win a war.

Why did the USA nuke the Japanese and did they go too far?
Japan wanted to end the war, they already knew the war was lost but they wanted to do so on their terms. Russia had invaded their mainland hoding and without them the war was pointless as far as they where concerned. The USA wasnt willing to tolerate this especialy after the suprise attack on pearl harbor. The bombs where dropped to A) force a surrender quickly without the vast loss of life of a ground invasion. The other reason was to scare the Soviet union and provent it over running more terratory. Nobody trusted Stalin and everyone knew that the next big conflic would be with them. Pointless as the Russians already knew about the bomb and had stolen many of its technical secrets.
As to whether you guys went to far remember that more people died in the firebombing campaigns in germany and japan than the atomic attacks. You where already buring cities to ashes. Its no further to as much with one bomb as many. If you want to give yourself nightmares watch the animation "Grave of the Fireflies".
Why did the Japanese aly with the Germans and why did they attack the USA?
The UK, the Netherland and France had Collonies in the far east. Japan wanted to take those Colonies. These contries where at war with Germany who had little interest in their colonies so it was a logical allience.
THe USA was hostile to the Japanese empire and had embargoed its imports of oil. Further more The USA controled the Philipenes at the time. These where a masive threat to the Japanes suply lines. Japan thought it would end up at war with the USA anyway, best it start on their terms by crippling the US pacific fleet. Fleets take up to a decade to build; without which the USA could not attack Japan. They thought they could win a quick limited war with the USA, forcing it to cede control of the far east to Japan. The USA at the time had little interest in the east anyway.

why japan attacked pearl harbour. japan is a very resource poor country. ln 1930s expansionism for resources and atrocities resulted in trade restrictions. the US had the largest closest fleet in the pacific. If japan destroyed pearl harbour adds 2500miles and years for the US fleet to rebuild, resulting in less contested expansion for the Japanese.
