Similar to Band-Maid, I wrote them off initially due to the cutesy visuals. My loss. After seeing Rolling Quartz live in a hot packed-out little club in Seattle, I'm 100% on board. They are the real deal, they had the crowd in the palm of their hand and Jayoung is a legit rock star vocalist.
I realize Rolling Quartz official mv’s are heavily produced and focus on visuals. This you can blame on their management & label. This band is fierce and different live in concert. Regarding the gear for quiet mv setting, even Band Maid had to obey strict noise rules when they filmed Real Existence at the temple. Akane had pads on all her drums.
They periodically do live on-line YT concerts. It has a small club atmosphere being where they both play and interact with the chats from the audience. The girls speak English and ocassionally converse in English, but they have an English and a Spanish translator. The love having a good time and there's lots of laughter and joking around. They held a on-line concert a few days ago.
A wonderful group of girls I was fortunate enough to see twice this year LIVE. This song is really great and is a real accomplishment for them. We wish them all the best. EU tour starts in January.
I'm going to two concert's in a row end of January and directly following the next in February when they finally come to Europe. 😁 So far I like all of their songs as well as the cover songs plus collabs with AleXa. I really hope we get an on stage collab with Dreamcatcher one day...I think this is overdue
I also like that pitch shifter sound. I think the guitarist with the blue hair is using a Digitech Whammy pedal (you can see it in the outdoor shot at @4:12), which has pitch shifter capabilities, so I'm pretty sure that's where the sound is coming from. It's reminiscent of what Matt Bellamy (Muse) used to do with the Korg Kaoss Pad, something new and interesting out of an electric guitar.
Drummer chunky shoes lol. She drums barefoot or with shower shoes live. Really really suggest their latest MV Reminiscence. It's totally different and totally amazing
Thanks for this nice reaction and for showcasing Rolling Quartz. Like others have said: You might want to take a look at one of their (many!) online shows/ streams. They're having so much fun and specially the singer and drummer are amazingly talented. They work so hard and I wish them all the success they deserve.
This is a good band that doesn't have a lot of songs just yet but they have a great sound and undeniable talent. I still think Blaze is their best song. I'm glad they are beginning to get noticed.
Those "long, lingering shots on each member" is one of the kpop influences that I like about RV. In so many traditional rock MVs, the camera focuses only on the lead singer, maybe on the guitar or bass players if they're solo'ing, and the poor drummer is buried in the back with no love from the camera. Here each member gets their time to shine.
This song is super catchy and I have listened to it several times, these ladies are awesome and are getting more attention with this song going viral. Another KRock band that I really like is called DIH try their cover song Bang Bang and they have some really great originals that are classic rock sounds. They do an awesome cover of a Mr. Big song that is fun.
You can go to the Japanese punk scene. The Erections has just released a new music video. Shonen Knife is kind of female punk grandmas. They have played pop punk (early Ramones style) for over 40 years now. Junky58% is maybe their inheritors. The punk ska band MAYSON's PARTY is a great band as well . There are so much. Then you have this, as me from Sweden, Scandinavia Punk Core bands like Axe Helvete, Rocky and the Sweden, Frigöra (I believe there is a Swede moved to Japan in that band that stills sing in Swedish in Japan) and more.
I've always been a heavy metal guy but I really like this band. You should do their video for blaze that's the song that got me interested in them. And I like the song holler a lot also
If you like Rolling Quartz you'll like Dreamcatcher (girl group K-pop) / Rock. Check out Endless Night by Dreamcatcher. Thank you for all of your reactions ❤
If you want more K-rock, solo idol AleXa's 2024 tracks, "Sick", "Distraction", and "I'm Okay" are veering towards rock, or at least Avril Lavigne-esque pop/punk, and are 100% English. The rest of her discography is mixed language but tends to favor English. Rolling Quartz & AleXa have collabed 2x, on a rock version of AleXa's "Xtra", then again on a rock mashup of Blackpink's "Pink Venom" and BTS's "Mic Drop" called "Pink Drop". I could do a whole post on AleXa alone, but I'll hold off unless you request more info.
Jayoung (자영) is a firecracker🧨 with a powerful voice! they killed it at the 2023 Korean Festival in Toronto. They have a bootleg version of the same concert on their RUclips channel but I found this one with better sound quality. ruclips.net/video/iLhetGXVEPM/видео.htmlsi=dyqx0m4EtYxEZXkV
Big fan of The Warning, but I haven't warmed up to Rolling Quartz yet. Not a big discography but they have a couple of songs that are decent. Lately I've been digging a "punk infused alt-metal act" (lifted from their Spotify description) that might be up your guy's alley. The group is called Hawxx and I suggest starting with their recent single "The Worst Thing". The video is easy to find on RUclips but it doesn't have 2M views, LOL.
I'm not impressed with the band so very much, but I really like the singers voice she has some grit and depth. And yes her voice did kind of evoke the Warning. i did like the song it was OK, but geezo maybe Band Maid has ruined me. When you get used to steak and lobster, even a great hamburger doesn't cut it anymore. But I want to find more bands so i will absolutely keep watching I love your dissections.
I'm a huge fan of both bands. I get your analogy, I've even used one like it. Personally sometimes I'm in the mood for steak and lobster, sometimes I just want to kick back with a burger and a beer. Nothing wrong with either one :) Cheers mate!
These girls found their sound on this song. A hard edged pop rock song that is fantastic. I hope they stay with this. Great song

This song hit a million views in three weeks!

That's how I discovered them.... One of the Covid-era online concerts. Still up on their channel, AFAIK. Just made me a fan for sure!

Thank you so much for rolling quartz reaction

My favorite song of theirs now. Love the guitars in this song.
7:04 it's so funny, her team all gave some badass looks but then she gave an angle smile 🤣

Yes please do more of them
The sound you asked is that the guitar? Yes it is the DigiTech whammy pedal. I don't think many songs used it but it had some cool effects.
Used a lot by Tom Morello, Jack White, Dimebag Darrell
Pleasee more RQ!!
watching their live gigs = money well spent!

You can see Hyunjung (blue hair guitarist) is using a whammy pedal at 4:11 so that's where this pitch shifting comes from
Saw these ladies in a small venue in Dallas. They even covered Scuttle Buttin by SRV, and killed it. Had the place hoping.
2 Korean bands that I found on the tube are DIH and WALKING AFTER U But I don't know if they have any Original material I think just Covers.
Props to their wardrobe peeps! Good song! ♥

Your overemphasized their looks when each one of these gals is a full on legit musician
Its a Digitech Wammy pedal. You can see her foot on it in the intro shot.
If you are after something ‘rocky’, please check out Victory, just released, smoking hot.
For a little more of a metal edge maybe check out their latest Victory.
Their cover of Maneskin's "Zitti e Buoni" is straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 !
This of course is a studio MV. There is a live performance available, they sound the same.
Lmao i think you read my comment about finally finding K rock haha.

DigiTech Whammy-Pitchshifter
Pop punk, pop rock
try D.i.h. from korea
that's weird I was liking them & then you mentioned The Warning who I love, have you heard of The Sixsters
Big fan of The Warning, but I haven't warmed up to Rolling Quartz yet. Not a big discography but they have a couple of songs that are decent.

The riff is like maneskin's "the loneliest" solo
Try Azalea
This song is definitely the best K-Pop song I know
Holes in cymbals, drummer wearing boots....they were miming ffs....😂 ...
I'm not impressed with the band so very much, but I really like the singers voice she has some grit and depth. And yes her voice did kind of evoke the Warning.

They are good. Much more viable than Band-Maid. You mentioned The Warning who are able to rock it as a 3 piece!
but if you would kill for 2 million views you wouldn't have any viewers left !
no pop
