Andrew does the Jonny songs more justice than Tilian did. You can tell they were getting tired at the end but hey it's a high energy fast paced song but Andrew still sounds better on Jonny songs than Tilian when you compare Andrew sounding similar to Jonny Craig and Tilians high pitched vocals just felt out of place and whiny, he's good at his songs though. I just so many people literally getting mad that Andrews the vocalist, whether temporary or permanent. They freak out over 2 songs and I thought they were good. They cry they want Tilian back and get kinda hostile if you say you like Andrew (I'm guessing they're probably some young kids who probably found the band during the Tilian era, I'm an OG fan since the beginning) But yeah i think Andrew sounds great especially the Jonny songs. I'd like to hear him do Kurt songs and the Tilian songs he does, he sounds decent and I can tell he's getting better on his highs. Him being able to scream is huge to in helping Mr Mess out. Imo it was time for Tilian to go. I enjoyed all his records, with Afterburner and Artificial Selection being at the bottom of the list. Acceptance speech, Instant Gratification, and Mothership were fcking golden. But then I felt the band didn't incorporate their sound instrumentally enough on those 2 albums, except a couple songs. The band said themselves Tilian was more of a "pop" guy and they wrote around that. They want to get back to their heavier more experimental routes from what I've gathered if I remember correctly on this video of Will Swan talking about the band. I think it'd be great to get some more of those "weebly weeblys" and that classic dgd sound we all know and love. And like I said, Andrew is sounding great, especially on these Jonny songs. I get liking the Tilian songs, I like them too but do people not like their older stuff or what?
Unfortunately the general fan base only really listens to the Tilian era, which can be seen by streaming numbers. Johnny and Kurt songs barely get any streams. Pop is way more accessible than their traditional chaotic sound so it only makes sense that the general fan base prefers Tilian
