I hear you. It must be tough to cancel on plans, especially if you want it to be perfect. However, a lot of times things can not be perfect. Maybe Universal was not an option any time soon, but something smaller, could be a great option too! I think he would’ve understood it better, if you explained to him why it didn’t work out this time and offered him to do something else. That way his excitement doesn’t turn into disappointment. Though you couldn’t go to Universal with your little brother, I hope you were still able to do something fun with him.
