- A full story summary/recap of Trails in the Sky FC (First Chapter), from its Prologue to the end of chapter 2. This story summary only covers the main plot, so none of the (outstanding) side quests/other NPC stories will be covered in this series.
Beginning with Trails in the Sky FC (First Chapter), the Legend of Heroes franchise has continuously built upon its world and characters over the span of many games. The current series, which is centered on the continent of Zemuria, has 11 titles to its name so far, with 7 that are officially localized in the West.

This was originally uploaded on my main channel on 4/17/2022.
I'm transitioning all my Trails content here~
I think what I like best about this summary is how you match the tone to the plot beats you're summarizing. It feels like I'm being told a story by someone who cares about the game instead of a dry recounting of events solely for the purpose of helping people like me get caught up.
Here after the remake announcement. I played through Trails SC a year ago, but ended up stopping due to life issues. Wanted to get back into it but needed a refresher of events. Thank you for being a legend and making these!
Adding my notes from this video in case it helps someone:

As someone who started with Cold Steel (currently finishing the last game) I have accepted that I will never have able time to play the Sky Trilogy, so this video series are really welcomed. Great job and thank you for the huge work.
I just finished Reverie and I’m still in denial that they’ll release it in some physical form… but yeah. 1 year after your comment. It’s not looking good.

They are doing the Remake 🎉🥳
This is probably one of the best detailed summaries I've ever seen. Doesn't get too wrapped up in the little things, but manages to paint the big picture in great detail regardless
Absolutely needed this, I wanted to get into this series and tried Cold Steel but was so confused. After seeing the latest game I REALLY wanted to jump in but I don't want to spend 1000 hours especially with the older games. With these I can jump back in with Cold Steel and work my way to Trails Through Daybreak.
Thank you so much for these. I have been making my way through Cold Steel and the Crossbell games and this has given me a much better understanding of the Sky arc/characters without having to track down these games at a ridiculous cost.
This is awesome, thank you so much! I started this game about 6 months ago and got about 20 hours in before getting pulled away from it. Just now picking it back up and your guide was crucial to get me back up to speed with the story so far! This is great work!
thank you so much for this!! I am starting the series off with Zero and intend to play Azure, CS 1-4, and Reverie, but I wanted to know what happened in the Sky trilogy first, so this is literally perfect!
I could play the introduction to this game 100 times, so wholesome and heartwarming!
Just wanted to say ty..i have a really bad back and cant sit at pc for hours on end and have tales from zero on the way for ps4 so this will get me up to speed!🎉🎉
I'm here because i started with the cold steel series and i just finished trails of cold steel 4 and i just recently downloaded trails into reveire as well. I don't have the time nor motivation to play the older trails games so this is much appreciated.
No matter how many you reupload them, I'm still going to watch them. Again!!
Thank you. I was searching for this.
Thank you for this! I played FC a while back and wanted a refresher before starting SC. I really want to love this series but I did get a bit overwhelmed following a guide for the first game. This time I'm just going to play through it at my own pace and have more fun!
Watched it once when I started Trails of Cold Steel. Watched it once again while playing Trails from Zero on Switch. It's so useful. Well done and thank you
This is one of the best if not the best summarization videos of this game i've watched. Your commentary was pretty funny and just stayed interesting lol. I hope you continue to make videos
Thank you, perfect pacing, really appreciate this!
Thank you for this! Very thorough but not too long! Really helped me pick up my playthrough after taking a long break.
Thank you! Just started trails from zero to start my playthrough of this series and this will catch me ip just enough
Thank you for putting in the time to put these together. Really nice to watch these back to refresh myself on all of the lore :)
Thank you so much for making this series! I had played through all of FC and about half of SC a few years back, but I kind of drifted away from the series since then. I'm looking to get back into Trails, but I have no desire to restart the Liberl arc so these videos are a great crash course before I jump back in with Trails from Zero.
well i know what to watch for the next 2 months ty for this VI
I was an idiot and started with the crossbell series and then went to the cold steel series so this is great for me. Thanks
Thanks a lot.
Thanks for making these videos.
serious work, thank you!
Thank you for the summary, i played this game a while ago and want to play SC, so this helped me a lot
thanks for the vids, i just found out CS1 recently. Turn out to be a great game, i wanted to experience sky trilogy but couldnt get my hand to the game so watching this is at least can i do to catch up. Definetely need to play crossbell arc after this whole series😂. Love ur vids!
As someone new to this series and gonna start with Zero and will never played Sky series because i don't have PC, this is a good video
thank you for the refamiliarization.
Wanted to play the whole series but i think i got some mental issues thats making it very hard to do so, so thanks for letting me skip the hard bits
Thank you so much, I recently picked up the Cold steel series and wanted to know the story of the other arcs since I really don't have time to play them.
You rule for this. And your voice is sweeeeeet!.
Dope. Thanks for the recap!
Thankyou for this
My vita just broke and I don't have a PC so these will be a godsend as I just finished bose before it happened 😅
Just finished this game and am very excited for the next chapter in the story. I appreciate these cliff notes version so I can keep the key story beats fresh in my mind!
thank you, I'm getting into cold steel but dont have the time to play 3 games to get to where I am now o7
Actually, there are 5 Trails games released before Cold Steel. (The Trails in the Sky trilogy, Trails from Zero, and Trails to Azure.)
The English versions release order is kind of a mess. ^^;
Trails from Zero recieved an English version quite recently, and Trails to Azure's English release is schedule to march 2023.
Chronologically, the Sky trilogy marks the beguining of the series, and the Zero / Azure duology is set around the same time as Cold Steel 1 and 2. Cold Steel 3 and 4 mark the "final chapters" to this series, and Trails into Reverie (scheduled to recieve an English release sometime in 2023) serves as a sort of epilogue, from what I hear.
"The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails" is an action RPG spin-off whose story has no clear relation to any of the Trails games already released in English. (Though some people speculate it will be connected to future Trails titles) It is also scheduled to recieve an English release in 2023, but this is probably the most "skippable" game in the series.
"Kuro no Kiseki" 1 and 2 have already been released in Japan, and I hear they are a sort of soft-rebot to the series, with siginificant changes to the combat system. I'm not sure how tightly the story is connected to the rest of the series, but it seems to take place shortly after Trails into Reverie.
---------------------------------
I believe the recommended play order is usually the JP release order, if possible. (Sky, Sky SC, Sky 3rd, Zero, Azure, Cold steel 1, 2, 3 and 4, Reverie.)
---------------------------------
Well, as long as you start from the 1st part of any chapter, you should be able to follow the bulk of the story. (So, either Sky, Zero, or Cold Steel.) But beware that later games may reveal massive spoilers to previous chapters, if you intend to play them someday.
Having said that, playing Cold Steel 1 and 2 before the Zero/Azure duology should be fine... Although you might want to go back and play Zero/Azure before Cold Steel 3, unless you don't mind the spoilers.
--------------------------------
Anyway, you do you, and have fun!
5 games*
Don't from the Crossbell games (Zero and Azure).
Yooo thanks I wanna play Reverie and I wanted to catch up
ty
good work
I was planning on playing the cold steel games 1,2,3,4 and so on.
I was going to skip the old one because of the why the characters look.
Will I miss out on a lot of references and plot if I skip them?
I find you made a summary of the games I dont plan on playing. Will this give me most of the information I will be missing?
will I still enjoy playing cold steel 1 and on? without playing the past games?
Thank you
If you aren't going to play the Sky Trilogy or the Crossbell Arc, definitely watch summaries on them. I started Cold Steel without looking up anything and i enjoyed it but once i stopped in the middle of CS 2 (i felt like i was missing alot) So I looked up the Sky Trilogy Summaries and now i'm currently playing thru the Crossbell games, definitely worth it for the world building and. I've heard that CS 3 and 4 reference alot of the previous games so definitely at least watch the summaries
My game is saved at the 6 min 23 seconds in on the video. The farm.
I'm at the tail end of playing through the crossbell duology. I'm tempted to just watch these summaries of the sky games and move onto cold steel. Is this a really good or really bad idea? 😅
I just finished trails from zero and tried playing trails in the sky. The fluidity of the gameplay in the crossbell Duology spoiled me. I couldn’t play the sky games. That’s just me tho
Haven't played anything past Sky SC. I thought they were great!
I’m in a similar boat, I’m toward the end of FC and just can’t get engaged enough with the game. I played thru Cold Steel 1-4, and wanted to go back but just can’t make it past Sky FC and it has been holding me back from playing the Crossbell arc and reverie.
Oh nevermind I'm in the mine
I've seen other charatcers bleed ? just finished CT1, definitely bleeding person there.
"one of the only" not "the only"
shout out pati mga taxi sa NAIA malakas managa mapa foreigner at kapwa Pinoy nkkhiya kayo
I found the Trails in the Sky really slow. I skipped to Cold Steel because it reminds me of Persona
Wow Gilbert sucks
