As a Leinster fan, and more importantly an Irish fan, it is absolutely incredible to have the South African teams in the URC. It makes the league immeasurably better which makes us better. URC = Best League
As a SA fan I think we have found the right competition for us. I loved Super Rugby until it expanded too much, but the travel and jetlag were always an issue. I think we will settle nicely into this league over time, and all nations (incl SA) will improve. Potential to be an outstanding competition - we need to catch up you Irish boys tho, strong teams and structures, very impressive.

What a great match. Loving that the Sharks showed up for good portions of the game. Took the Bulls over 80 when everyone was saying this was a done deal for the Bulls, that they would easily walk away with it with how poorly the Sharks have been playing, but they really showed what a great team they can be when they click. They've got the necessary power and pace balance. Phepsi was great today, Mapimpi was great, Venter had his game of the season, AM was just class, Fassi was great in the second half. We need more of that next season. This team is really gonna be something else
And it took a whole international squad to give the bulls a challenge..cant look past that one..its the bulls that had more to prove since the sharks basically is the springbok squad with other international playerd ....a bulls victory was huge and impressive

Great to see the crowds getting back into the SA stadiums. I was worried the South Africans weren't going to get behind the Urc judging by early crowds but this was a great crowd, just like the Edinburgh game.
The crowds are only gonna come during the big games. Despite tickets being significantly cheaper than European tickets for a Rugby game $4. Not many have $195 for a season pass ( tickets for an individual for a number of home games ) then you include transport costs also food, drinks, parking. My point is money is short to fill up the stadiums 85 to 95% of the time so only big games you’ll see a full stadium like a quarter final, semi final & final. Furthermore, Africa is big traveling from one place to another is a significant distance. I heard England is the size of the 4-5 largest province of South Africa. Hope you get my explanation.
Leinster v the Bulls on Friday is gonna be great. Can’t wait for it. Is a contrast from the usual drubbing that Leinster would inevitably hand out to most of the other teams bar Munster and Ulster at the semi final stage normally in previous years.

You got it way wrong. Bulls led by 14 points 30min out. They should have kept on going which would have made the score look like Leinster semi. In the ruck just before the second last try by the Sharks the Sharks player dived into and over the ruck ending up on his back. Another penalty for the Bulls and no try for the Sharks. The Sharks supporters are well versed in putting the cork back into the bottle. :)
Should be a cracker but I think it will be a bridge too far for the Bulls, Leinster look on another level and are at home. Not really , its the best embodiment of a full team game , you need to win Line outs , you need to defend well , you need to win scrums , you need to win the high ball , to me Rugby puts more emphasis on the team as a whole and each individual position than any other sport

I agree wholeheartedly. I thought I was alone in my dislike of his commentary work. His rugby acumen is top notch but his voice cadence, diction, inflections and general descriptive capacity lack the necessary ingredients of good commentary. All he does is amplify the name of the try scorer as they cross the line. Good commentators are able to take one on a journey with textured layers of story telling and description.

First off, the ref didn't even call advantage over when the Sharks were on attack, really should have stopped play and gone back for a Sharks penalty...second, even if he was right to not play advantage for the Sharks, the 'push' by Mapimpi was borderline, but honestly, slightly leaning towards foul play, but Tambwe scored the try, so there is NO way the ref cards a player for that. If you honestly think that those are the rules...rugby isn't for you mate.
@@aldobonaso3481 it wasn't for a penalty advantage it was for a knock on at the breakdown when the bulls contested for the ball on the ground, they got over the advantage line therefore advantage was over, so nothing wrong there

Owen Nkumane is very knowledgeable about rugby but is a horrible announcer.
So is Joel Stransky and even that poepol Toks van der Linde. Joel got so angry when the Bulls score. you could hear his dissapointment everytime lol
I agree wholeheartedly. I thought I was alone in my dislike of his commentary work. His rugby acumen is top notch but his voice cadence, diction, inflections and general descriptive capacity lack the necessary ingredients of good commentary. All he does is amplify the name of the try scorer as they cross the line. Good commentators are able to take one on a journey with textured layers of story telling and description.

Very poor indeed. He is excellent as an analyst but atrocious as a commentator.

Owen is the Head commentator and he's been atrocious for years, Mathew Pearce is no better, he's just better than Owen and that old man Hugh Bladen has sounded like he's gonna die on the mic for years.
If you compare this to French, Scottish, and Xhosa commentary, even the New Zealand commentary is miles better.

I think we should go back to the Celtic league, it's a rubbish competition really so badly thought out ,you have under strength teams from Britain and Ireland's going out to south.africa , playing fully loaded south African teams in boiling weather , coming from winter conditions, and to top it off when they come over here the summer is started to break ,bring them over in January ,see how they get on then totally rubbish , a level playing field is needed if this competition is going to survive ,kick the money men out of rugby
