Robert, this has to be one of my favorite videos for this series so far. The Sierra Nevada range is simply breathtaking in it's beauty and your filming of the landscape is excellent!
I live 3 hours from Bishop ànd its a great get away. I like Travelodge there. Lots to see and snow time is good too! Stay away from Mammoth except for skiing for the day 😃😎😃
proof one can car camp, take small hikes and still feel like you're seeing the wilderness. I'm a year away from my retirement adventure. This South Fl native is all about mountains and lakes! Thank you Robert
I'm sad you visited this area in winter. I grew up Visalia just across the Sierra...whoa wait this was in July! Sweet! I wanted to tell you about the best swimming spot in the Western US. The southern entrance to Sequioa National Park on highway 198 up from Three Rivers. Inside the main gate entrance, drive 1/2 mile and park on the left side of the road. Cross over the road to the fenced in drainage ponds, follow the trail beside the fence down to the river. About 1/4 mile. Solid granite cliffs on each side, upper bowl is 50 feet deep easy, with slow current through a channel to lower lagoon. Crystal clear light green tinted water with temps in 100's make it paradise. 30 different spots to jump in or wade in. Best swimming spot ever. Water is perfect by last week of June. If your ever on the west side of the Sierra and go into Sequioa or Kings Canyon...check it out. You will enjoy it and never forget it.
Robert you say you Love the mountains 🏔 that is exactly why I bought a home in the San Bernardino Ca. mountains brings the peace and tranquility, away from the madness of city life. Your trips truly inspire our family 😊 thank you so much for all you do to please your subscribers 👍🏼 Bless you and traveling mercies on the road. 🙏🏼
You went from bon appetit to dumping in 3 seconds flat. That part of the US is so unbelievably gorgeous. I've wanted to go there since I watched The Parent Trap, The Long Long Trailer and other shows and movies set there. This is even more beautiful than they were and I'm sure will be even better in person.
Robert, this is another great video! Glad the Chamber of Commerce invited you and you did all those hikes. Twenty years ago, my wife and I had been to Yosemite and were headed home in the upper Midwest. It was Memorial Day weekend. We stopped overnight in Bishop. What we didn't know was that Memorial Weekend is Mules Days in Bishop. Our hotel room was twice the maximum published rate and the town was packed. We left after one night thinking that Bishop was a crowed, overpriced city. Your video has redeemed the city for me!
Robert try to get hiking boots, shirt, pants, and a brim hat, you will be more comfortable, especially if you are planning to do longer hikes. A gps, cv radio and bear spray will come in handy as well
This is a wonderful video. I giggled, laughed and dreamed of taking my own trip to Bishop. I can hardly wait for the next installment - Yosemite. Thank you Mr. Robert for taking us along on your adventures. ~Sherrie in South Carolina
Thanks for showing me an area in my own backyard that I wasn't aware was so beautiful. I'm a 4th generation Californian and have seen a lot of the state but I thought the area around Bishop was just more hot desert area like Mono Lake. I had no idea it had all those trees and mountains that look like Glacier National Park! I'm going to take my RV and explore that area this year. Thanks for the tip!
We’ve been coming up here for over 60 years and still haven’t see it all. So glad you stopped at Convict Lake. It’s our favorite lake in the Sierra. You really need to come back in the fall. The colors are spectacular. Enjoy your visit.
When we drove south on this very road in 2019 we missed Convict Lake and I was gutted when I found out that this is where they filmed the lake scenes in Star Trek Insurrection. Thanks for this upload Robert
I recently discovered Traveling Robert and his fabulous videos and music. Like him putting a sticker on each state he visits, I am going to post this comment on all the videos I watch! You da man, Robert!!
Best time to visit this area is the fall. The fall colour is absolutely fantastic. California has so much variety of scenery with the large latitude range and altitude changes and ocean.
Floridians are always in love with mountains. I live in CA and I know a guy who just moved here from Florida... all he wasn't to talk about is how beautiful the mountains are! I think we take it for granted here.
As soon as they let us losse, we are on our way to Bishop. lol thank you Robert for letting us have such a wonderful peek, it is beautiful and the Snow on the Mountains was a Topper. and don't forget Tenaya Lodge up there by Yosemite, and a bit south is Chukchansi Casino. enjoy this Calif. of ours.
"Lower taxes and drop some regulations...California, you might get to #1." Hilarious! Love your videos Robert - thank you for posting these during the cold, dreary winter months. Much appreciated!
Spectacular vlog Robert. Bishop looks like a great place l just love the parks, the brightest blues stunning mountain ranges. Really enjoyed your hiking...
Great videos Robert. Can't wait for the Tampa RV show videos. We were very interested in that new Winnebago Voyage that you showed from the last RV show in Hershey. I believe the 27 foot and the 33 foot ones were my favorite. Our family sits down to watch your videos together at night. We all sing along to your songs too. We think you need your own TV show on PBS or something. You are very talented. Thank you for sharing. Hope to see you out in your RV one day!
#148 Good morning, Mr. Robert. I was in that area last year. I cannot walk the trails at my age, but really enjoy the mountains. I think I have twenty years over you, but I still like the "Open Road". Thanks again!
Bishop was such a great little place. Wonderful views in that area. I never made it up that far north east when I lived out there. This was great. I thank you for sharing it. Your excellent camera and video editing makes it very good. I just feel like I am right with you. As always your comments have lite hearted comedy.
Awesome video Robert ! I liked the part where you showed that scrumptious burger & onion rings, then a second later you are playing with the sewer pipe at the campsite. They didn't seem to mix. Great scenery though.
Excellent introduction to the California Sierra Nevada range Robert. I enjoyed every moment of this video. You gave me some beautiful views of the mountains and the town of Bishop which I am inspired to take a trip there. There are many good scenic places to photograph. Very informative indeed. Thank you.
Bishop is a bit south when I grew up. We did go through and stopped a few times. We lived in Reno. I spent the summer up at Tahoe and north of Truckee. I'm in the Bay Area now heading north in the spring. Thanks for the video. You do a great job catching the essense of the area! I love mountains too!
This was an epic episode so beautiful. Can't wait for yosemite you will love it. I have been there many times and i was there in 1968 the last night they did the fire fall, it was breath taking.
Oh wow!!! Outstanding video, we will be watching this again, definitely one of my favorite videos. The hikes you took and all the scenery were simply breath-taking. Like you said, just when you thought it couldn't get anymore beautiful, it did. The little town of Bishop looks like a wonderful place to visit or even live.
This is my go to area during fall season Robert. Fall foliage is very nice and this area gets very busy with leaf peepers. You should come back during fall and see for yourself.
Hi Robert, many thanks for sharing yet another superb video here. Another feather in your already richly adorned cap for sure pal. You always manage to make my day with your superproductions. Best wishes and cordial greetings from William across the Big Pond.
Drove passed when we stayed at Mammoth in our Class B. Added Bishop to our list. Thanks Robert! Keep the videos coming. Husband and I love how thorough all your vids are.
You're in my stomping grounds now! So lucky to live near such a beautiful area. Looking forward to you next episode. Filling up in Lee Vining though? Ouch! :)
Twice in a week now you've made my stomach turn due to my fear of heights. No way I could have walked that path along the edge of the cliff. Thanks for allowing me to see the view without the risk of falling off of it!
Simply beautiful. Seen a bunch of states hiking trails the desert mountain . Appalachian mountain. Taught they just isn't any nice out of tourist trails. Now this is my kind of trails. A valley and trail beside the lakes. And nice clean rocks. With fishing.
Oh, man, this was just wonderful! I'm so glad you stopped at the Bishop CoC too, so you could experience the beauty of the Lake Sabrina area. I've camped there many times, stood under that waterfall at 3:24 (before that house was built), and done the hikes you did. It is incredibly beautiful, like Mammoth but without the hordes of people, and I loved seeing it with all the wildflowers. The Laws railroad museum is awesome, make sure you visit it next time. If you ever get back to the Mammoth area, be sure to check out the Red's Meadow side of the area, with the awesome view of the Minarets. I have just got to get back to California and make this same trip again before I croak, but thanks for virtually taking me there. 🤗 P. S. Your tiredness while hiking is definitely from the altitude.
You've just shown some awesome parts of the Eastern Sierra Nevada. When kids were young we spent many summers up there. Stopped in Bishop every time. One thing that looked like it was going to be an awful event was at 1:36 in you were making a right turn, a motorcyclist was ridding up your left side and a car made a right turn from the street you were turning on and just like that it looked like something bad was about to happen. The motorcyclist swerved into the right lane at the same time. I recall in one of your past trips your mini tinnie captured an accident right in front of you. Has it happened on more than one occasion?
Hello Robert, what a absolutely beautiful lake and mountains,l don't want to alarm you Robert but always check behind you every 5 or 10 minutes, as soon as you got around that water track a person appeared out of nowhere, there definitely want anyone behind you the whole trek, please always check behind you,it could be a not so nice person,a Bear, or the less thought it f bigfoot, you just never know do you? Thank you again for the beautiful traveling and lakes you have been taking us to Robert, Be Safe and stay Healthy Robert, 🍀🍀😊🌻🌹🌺🍷🍷🍷👍xx

You gotta revisit this area sometime in the fall. The fall colors are spectacular.
Spring & Fall are THE two seasons to be out & about, for sure.
You went from bon appetit to dumping in 3 seconds flat.

Hi Robert, thank you for the delightful video. It is refreshing to see that some parts of California have not yet been wrecked.
Always fell to freedom after watching your video with Mountain , stream, forest , blue sky. All things so beautiful. Thank you.
Excellent video, editing, and music. Defiantly deserving of a creator award.
