    Kudos to Peugeot for trying a new concept... The 9X8 had its competitive moments last year, so it looks very promising with this evolutionary version. Peugeot at Le Mans has a tradition of slow starts but explosive later performance, innovation and world records. Also, it's easy to guess that the Peugeot has probably the most advanced floor! It gives hope for Le Mans...

    Just letting you know, Peugeot did upload a video where they are talking about the upgrades infront of the real (full carbon) car.
    In that video it also looks like the one adjustable aero piece is the gurney flap at the front wheels (similar to the Cadillac LMDh). But I can't fully say if that might not have been them testing around with where to put it. Should be visible at Imola and Spa though

    Even with the rear wing I still think it’s a great looking car. Hopefully with the upgrades have widened their performance window.

      I actually prefer the look with the rear wing since the front already looks very aggressive.

    RIP square setup, and about the question how much faster will be, the answer is... as much as ACO will allow it to

    • @Bncxx1275
      @Bncxx1275 Месяц назад

      Don't You know ACO always only want side by side battle
      Not overtake by Drs like F1 and hopefully the team who already overtake from behind could crash next corner so other team could overtake them
      So far the only driver who could defense from that is Fernando Alonso

    I liked the low drag 'no-wing' concept, too bad it did not work.
    If regs remained unchanged allowing front electric power @ 120-kph would the 9X8 have been competitive?

    • @sbeve7445
      @sbeve7445 2 месяца назад +6

      As shown in the Qatar race it would've been able to. In qatar it had similar BoP to the Porsches and the Peugeot competed just fine. That said I don't think it would be a dominant car.

    • @budthecyborg4575
      @budthecyborg4575 2 месяца назад +20

      It did work though, but the FIA changed the regulations after the fact to make it not work, no matter what official excuses they give the FIA screwed Peugeot intentionally.

    • @OzwalR
      @OzwalR 2 месяца назад +8

      It works in theory, in reality it only works with very smooth asphalt. At least it works better than what Mercedes-AMG F1 have been trying the past few years

    • @budthecyborg4575
      @budthecyborg4575 2 месяца назад +14

      @@OzwalR Remember Peugeot built the car for wider front tires and 4WD starting at 120kph (anything but a hairpin) as per original regulations.
      Peugeot did build the best car, for the specs originally provided by WEC.
      As a 4WD car with no rear wing the 9X8 would have been spectacular, and FIA/WEC just robbed everyone of a more competitive season when they denied the real 9X8 from running.

  • @budthecyborg4575
    @budthecyborg4575 2 месяца назад +11

    The 9X8 always should have been allowed to run its original hybrid power at 120kph, WEC lost a huge opportunity when they didn't make an exception for the 9X8 because the wingless design could have made WEC and LeMans totally unique in the racing world.
    Equalizing diverse aero concepts was is the entire point of BOP regulations and WEC just threw away the entire reason the LMH class exists in the first place.

    • @mrgalaxy396
      @mrgalaxy396 2 месяца назад +5

      That's the one thing I don't really get about the new regs. If LMH is superior to LMDh due to more design freedom, why bother building an LMDh since you won't be competitive? Conversely, if the two are equalized, why would you bother with an LMH and spend a lot more money for a fractional advantage, if any at all? Seems like LMH is there just for manufacturer pride, while LMDh is the baseline.

    • @CyanRooper
      @CyanRooper 2 месяца назад +5

      @@mrgalaxy396 That's how I see it as well: LMH is for the manufacturers with deep pockets while LMDh is for the manufacturers with shallow pockets and privateers.

    • @YOUENNNN
      @YOUENNNN 2 месяца назад

      @@mrgalaxy396Well the answer is in your question...because LMDh CAN be competitive specially with Bop and also it gives you access to IMSA, on the other hand Lmh gives you a fractional advantage like you said, and also more freedom and prestige

    • @unclebanga5976
      @unclebanga5976 2 месяца назад

      @@mrgalaxy396 I feel that lmh also gives you the ability to develop parts that can be used on road cars and is a test to their durability, where as lmdH wouldn't offer that anywhere near as much as most parts aren't bespoke. I feel that Porsche, especially with their heritage, should be building a ground up hyper, but that's just my opinion.

    Probably have to wait until Spa to find out how much quicker the 2024 car is than the 2023. I know it’s debut is Imola but I don’t think any of the 2023 cars did racing laps around Imola so comparison is going to be hard. Hopefully this puts Peugeot in the fight for wins and possibly a championship. To do a complete 180 with the aero concept is impressive but I’m disappointed that because of the rule changes the wingless car was not as competitive as it should have been. Despite Le Mans being the weakest track because of the bumpiness a Peugeot led while it was damp and changeable last year so it really could’ve worked.

    Sadly that's a very half hearted video. You could've at least watched their video on the car. I'm an semi amateur when it comes to basic racecar building and designing but the concept change is clearly more visible, even on the renderings and not just a rear wing.
    I liked your more in depth videos but this feels more like an attention grabber.

    • @princeoftonga

      Wasn’t a dumb concept. The rules changed between design and debut that made it less competitive. Even despite the rule changes not suiting the concept they still led races last year so not a total bust. Also the 2024 car will be mechanically sound as it uses the same engine,ERS and drivetrain as last years car so I reckon podiums and possibly wins are on the cards this year.
