Why you need a dyno tune after fitting a OTR intake on the direct injected Holden V6's!!

- If you're thinking about getting a cold air intake for your Holden V6 commodore there are many to choose from! The Over the Radiator (OTR) Style is considered to be the best flowing on both the V6 and V8's. On some vehicles you can run these style of intake without a tune however on the VE and VF V6 fitted with the direct injected motors (LFX LFW LF1 LLT) the vehicle will need to be tuned to run safely and to make a power/torque gain.

I have a 2008 VE 3.6 60th Anniversary Commodore.
I have J pipe muffler delete and an Orssom Performance OTR.
The car is so much better in both performance and fuel economy.
Should I have someone up here dyno tune my car or is it not necessary and the ECU will learn by itself?

The Alloytec's are less sensitive to MAF location changes but the fuel trims are still often out by upto +-15% so a tune to tidy these trims up will yield better power, reliability, safety and fuel economy, so it's highly recommended. OCD Tuning in Burleigh heads QLD can tune these!

Great video, just bought a 2012 sv6 Ute with 110,000 kms and am getting a system lean code on both banks. Guessing it’s the otr they installed but never had tuned. Do you guys know anyone in Sydney who does good work?

Oh wow this video is awesome! I have little knowledge about cars but i bought myself a used 2011 Holden Caprice and want to have abit more power and torque but nothing too crazy 😅 ... will installing a OTR help add those in..?

Any reliability issues after getting an otr, exhaust and a dyno tune? With all them mods can you run your car 5 days a week, 9 hours a day without any issues (Uber Driving). I have a 2015 vf sv6. Cheers!
No reliability issues, we might just smooth out the power delivery under 3000RPM to help with fuel economy!

Hi there just watch your video, and I’ve got a question. I have a Vf 2014 sv6 ute. I’m about to put in a new exhaust system on the ute, plus a better air intake but my question it?. Do I have to do a Dyno tune + a normal tune or just a dyno tune and nothing else?
I recommend a dyno tune to make sure it's running optimally without any dips in power etc.
Was there a reason he was only pushing 154rwkw stock? Thought it was 180rwkw... unless he was running on 91 octane.
Depends on dyno, weather, car condition, fuel quality, etc. on our dyno the LFX usually runs 160rwkw stock with variance of 10%

Hi Dylan, to be frank we've not seen anyone doing this properly in Perth yet, we've recently had to fix 3 tunes by one popular tuning company in Perth, including one on a supercharged V6. We'd recommend getting it remote tune by us, price comes to around $1650 but includes a tuning tool/data logger/engine scanner. You can keep it or we can buy it back from you for $300 afterwards.
I have a VF ssv with the L77 6.0. I already have the VCM OTR but no tune yet. What type of gain will I be looking at with just otr, then otr + tune? I also have high flow rear sports mufflers
L77 would see about 40-50rwkw gain at the wheels and about 100NM

so i’m no guru with cars but your saying if ran without a tune, the car will run worse at low power whilst running richer
Yeah the MAF sensor location has been moved, runs really rich and horrible in some locations of the graph.
How much is a tune worth ?
We charge $850 for a dyno tune or $1290 for OTR+Tune. Need it for a full day to do it properly

I'm not sure on Syd sorry, but we can do a remote tune if needed for $1100 with a tool you can keep or sell!
These things were obviously detuned by Holden.....crazy figures.
100%! Same engine in the Camaro is rated as 237kw at the engine and the LLT which makes about 20rwkw less than the LFX is also stated as 210kw! So my thinking is they've undersold the figure to make it more appealing to parents putting their kids in these!
