    Can you colour polycast resin? Do you have any suggestions as to how to pour from the container without spilling? I find them really hard to pour from.

    Very nice & easy. Always interesting to see the process. The resin pops so easily out of the moulds. 👍

      @@dramamask do you think this would be ok in rubber linka moulds? I'm wanting to make some decent long last terrain but I don't want to ruin the moulds. Also would you use a release agent? (I know very little about all this, apart from some plaster of Paris I've not cast anything before)

    Hmmm not sure where I went wrong, I used a measuring glass & poured out A to 50 ml & then B on top to 100 ml mark. Stirred gently for 30 seconds & poured out into my shallow decor moulds. The very first one I poured set well but the rest are looking marbled & not set. It was thickening I’d say within 30-60 seconds. Not the correct ratio? Need to use a weighing scales? How will I clean out my moulds? 😢

    Cool. Handy knowing one resin is bendy and ones firm. Wondering have you ever used jesmonite or plaster polymer? Not many you tube vids about it.

    • @mickybetts7957
      @mickybetts7957 4 года назад +1

      @@dramamask Yeah I've used it once, a cheaper version of jesmonite. Basic alpha plaster mixed with polymer instead of water, makes a waterproof fiberglass type of thing, using a certain type of fiberglass mesh with it, for thin casting or jacket molds. Zero smell and clean. I see a lot of plants pots and garden ornaments made from it in shops. Worth a look! When I had a go I could only find about 4 jesmonite videos on RUclips. And none of plaster polymer.

    • @dramamask
      @dramamask  4 года назад

      @@mickybetts7957 You have me very interested in the plaster polymer now. :) I'm guessing you make it up yourself and you don't buy something as a plaster polymer? :)

    • @mickybetts7957
      @mickybetts7957 4 года назад +1

      @@dramamask You buy the plaster polymer as a liquid resin, and then buy these plaster separate. I got mine from a place online called Alec Tiranti. They didn't sell jesmonite at the time but they do now. The mesh I bought separate Topo, think it's called Quaxial fiberglass mesh? Spelling may be wrong. It has larger weave goes and is softer and less evil than usual fiberglass mesh. My mate looked up another alternative to jesmonite too but I forgot what it was called. Cheaper again. Jesmonite is dearer but seems to be the main brand stuff, and that comes as a kit I think.

    • @dramamask
      @dramamask  4 года назад

      @@mickybetts7957 I've never used Jesmonite. Would be good to find a casting alternative to expensive casting materials - especially when making bigger pieces. :)

    Is it true that you have about 3 minutes to work with the resin? Is it lightweight? Do you need to wear a respirator? Thanks

    • @dramamask
      @dramamask  4 года назад

      I mix for around 30 seconds and yes, maybe around 3 minutes to work with, which is plenty by the time you have tapped any unwanted air out also. The resin in this video isn't what I would call lightweight and has a nice weight to it which I thunk adds a 'value' to the casted piece. And, yes, wear a respiraror at all times with resins - even if it is odourless. Take no chances.

    Is this polyrethane resin is smells and need mask ? Also did you thing we can mix a resin with powder of marble .

    • @dramamask
      @dramamask  4 года назад

      You'll want to wear a mask even if the resin doesn't smell. Sometimes, the fumes aren't picked up by smell. I haven't used marble powder, so you might want to look into that. I know you can add dyes, etc.

    • @skerriesrockart
      @skerriesrockart Год назад

      Marble powder caused me a lot of problems..it tends to form clumps and can stop the resin curing properly..better off using a hard gypsum like herculite or crystical
