    I love your videos! Been binge-watching them the last few days since I discovered your channel(s). My husband is planning to retire in 2 years at 62. I'm 5 years behind him but hope to retire from my small business at the same time (or at least cut back). Working on my side hustle(s) so we don't have to take Social Security or his pension for a few more years. Your checklist is sooo helpful as the timing is perfect. I have the Chase Sapphire Preferred (last month), and just got approved for the IHG card. We travel quite a bit so hoping to build up points over the next 2 years. We have a dumpster ordered for the first week of May and plan to do Swedish Death Cleaning then. We are taking the steps to prepare to downsize our lives and home (sons planning on moving out this year). I'm sooooo excited!!!!

    Couple things to add:
    1. Pepto Bismol is generally not available abroad, and it's used to treat traveler's diarrhea, so it's good to bring extra.
    2. Visiting a travel doctor a year out can be helpful because some vaccines are given as a series over several months, so it's important to get started early.

    I would never use public wifi without using a VPN - that's my top reason for using it.

  • @30AndAWakeUp
    @30AndAWakeUp 11 месяцев назад +6

    Another big reason VPN is important, is it turns your streaming services into much better deals. For instance, Disney Plus is pretty limited in the US but if you set your VPN to somewhere else, you’ll get all the Fox Studio movies and shows. Almost every streaming service’s offerings expand when you change your VPN location. I would get a VPN even if I was just in the US for the value it brings to streaming service catalogs.

    This is great info and love the new content. One thing that I was also considering during your section about selling the house was changing your state of residence to a state without income tax. I heard South Dakota was fairly easy as it catered to RV nomads with a few day turnaround to register. In this case, I think that could be leveraged for international nomads too. Have you looked into that options viability to save money?

    Great information - and motivation! Three years and counting down. We’re debating renting our house to start depending on where the housing market is at that time. The rent will cover more than the carrying costs, so it would be extra income. We know it’s not our retirement home, but would keep us in the market while we’re gone.

    I don’t like the idea of selling my house to travel and then a few yrs later deciding I want to take a break or just settle down and now I can’t afford to buy a house because they have appreciated too much.
    This became an issue during COVID for RVers coming off the rd. They sold an appreciating asset and bought a depreciating one.

      They all offer different points for categories, so we made a little list. Then eventually you'll memorize it. But for instance the IHG card offers 3X on "everything else" but Sapphire only 1X, so like at Walmart we would use IHG. But booking travel Sapphire is 3X, and they are worth more so we would use that.
