Hey blazed, Im a viewer thats been sitting in the waiting room of a mental hospital waiting admittance (crippling anxiety and depression), and I just wanted to say your content recently has been a great distraction for me and has really helped me cope. Thank you for your consistent uploads, man.
Hey man you might not see this for a few days but don't worry man, I was that kid for a long time (went inpatient 3 times, outpatient once) and I've gotten to the point of pretty much full recovery and even beat a hardcore drug addiction and now I'm the happiest I've ever been. From ~10-20yo I didn't feel like I ever could get better but just a few years ago I found hope and now I'm living a life med free (after trying literally dozens of med) with no depression which when I was in your shoes I couldn't even consider being a possibility. Anxiety is still here but it's gotten better and I've learned to live with it and use it to my advantage in life. I've met one person in my life who has experienced more trauma and worse depression than myself and that girl watched her own parents die right in front of her, so I think if I could get better and turn my life around then really anyone can. Just like me though you won't be able to see right now that you'll eventually feel happiness again, but believe me, it'll come with time and you'll understand I'm right one day. The key is hard work and determination to fix your problems. It's gonna suck and you won't want to do it, but it's worth it and you'll get there if you continue to try even when you feel like giving up. You're on the right track and I can tell you want things to get better because you're seeking more intensive help than you were getting before so keep going down this path. As a suggestion I'd say if you can then try to go to outpatient once you get out of inpatient or at least see a therapist 1-2 times a week. None of that once a month bs that isn't actually helping. Some of the best help/advice I ever got was from going to outpatient for a couple months. It's not fun and it's hard work but it helps a lot.
And the absolute best piece of advice I can give you is this: The cure to depression isn't found in a pill, it's found within you. The pills won't MAKE you happy, they simply make it easier to put in the hard work that you don't feel like doing right now but need to do anyways so you can eventually get better. You'll never feel happier if all you do is take the pills and do nothing. There's obviously some things in your life that you need to change and/or deal with so your job right now is to be brutally honest with yourself and your doctor's and figure out what those things you need to change are. Maybe you need to figure out healthier ways of coping with past trauma like emotional neglect or physical/mental abuse, maybe you need more structure in your life, maybe you need help quiting a drug or alcohol addiction, maybe you need to overcome codependency. There's lots of things that could be problems but you need to figure out what exactly is wrong and start down the path of fixing them. There will be road blocks, there will be set backs and you will feel like giving up but you need to get back up and keep trying. It's all worth it in the end, trust me.
