I’ve always liked your opinion on quality control. Thanks for covering that again. I think you’re %100 correct. I am just starting out and I follow your advice more than anyone else I’ve seen on RUclips.
Matt, Great video. I enjoy your work ethic. Totes make it easier to know how much wood you have on hand. It’s a lot easier loading a tote from the ground than it is throwing wood from a big bunker. Merry Christmas to you & your family. Keep the videos coming. Dave from Maine.
Thanks Dave. Same to you and your family. I know stacking into totes takes up time but keeps the wood clean and quality the same. Maybe one day I will loose fill totes. Just not right now. Maybe I’ll do both. We will see where the future takes us.
I agree with you Matt, you have built a reputation and set the standards and your customers know what they are getting every time. You nailed a lot of great points. I heard Chris from In The WoodYard address the same issues as has Joe from Ohio WoodBurner, each of you have a different way of running your firewood business that works for you but the #1 thing that you all have in common: customer service as well as repeat customers who keep you as their firewood supplier. That to me speaks volumes about what you sell as well as the quality firewood you provide. Split sizes, dry and ready to burn, same amounts as ordered, etc. The fly by night firewood people who short a customer and sell the firewood less than you are no worries, 1 sale may be lost but that bad experience with the other guy will have back to you on the next need for firewood even at the higher price because they know what they will be getting. H]sorry for the rant but I had to share my support and back you up. You have a great channel and lots of great information that you share. Keep the great videos coming, even if they feel repetitive. 👍🏻👍🏻
Hard work and being honest speaks volumes. I’m a straight shooter and provide a great product. And that product reflects me. What I get upset about is that most people now a days just don’t care. Well I do. If everyone would just donate right thing everyone would be happy. So by me doing the right thing and standing behind my business goes a long way. And word spreads fast. So I think I’m doing the right thing. Thank you recognizing my hard work. And I will try to keep the videos coming.
Great video. Always enjoy your content. You’re a straight shooter. I have learned tremendous amount from your videos. Hoping to have my own kiln some day. Thinking seriously of purchasing some equipment soon. Baby steps. Happy holidays.
Baby steps is the only way to do it. Think hard on what equipment you buy. I always think about the pros and cons to really make sure it fits my needs. And happy holidays to you and yours.
Massive dump man, stacking that all at once makes my back hurt looking at it😂 I agree with ya on the gassers, they are very finicky and nobody can run them like you do. It takes a bit to learn what they like and how to stack wood in them. I was just worried about smoking out the neighbors. So far im doing good. Only time it smokes is when I fill it up until it catches and starts gassing again. I'm learning to try and catch it little earlier than mid demand cycle to fill it up, to help new stuff get started. Ive got alot to learn still. It's still awesome our home, garage, and water are super comfortable!!! We'll see how I feel after this season 😂😂 Stay safe man✌️
Yeah man they can be very frustrating at times. I do think for the average family they are a great choice. With serious demand I don’t think they are a good choice. All I can say is stay up on the maintenance otherwise you will regret your decision. I did that with mine and cleaned it all the time and still had some issues. And let me tell you when you have an issue it will be when it is the nastiest outside. Learn the ins and out and always throw in dry wood. Keep splitting brother!
That was a huge amount of firewood in the new trailer 👍 It's good to go off on a tangent occasionally 😊 Good video man. I'm glad you got your tractor straightened out with as little work as possible.
Yeah sometimes I guess I need to vent. I don’t tell anyone what to do. Just give advice. I think I just have high standards and that’s why I’m so critical. But to each their own. And yeah im really glad tractor was an easy fix. It gets used a few hrs a day and I need that baby working.
I have a 2 US Stove Furnaces, one at camp and one at home. I agree nothing like the even heat of a wood stove/furnace. When I use my natural gas furnace it seems like I am always cold. Have a great Christmas! Jeff
Hey Jeff. Yeah nothing beats a wood stove. Even when I have the heat in the house from the boiler warmer than what we keep the house with the stove we also feel it’s colder in the house. But having one fire that heats all my buildings is nice as well. Have a great Christmas
Love the beginning with the Husky stealing a piece of wood. 4 dogs here. A Husky, an Akita, and 2 of their pups....Huskitas. LOL They all run the show LOL. And yes, jealous of your OWB
Yukon is a great dog. He’s actually and malamute. Same blood line as my previous one. Love him. It’s nice he’s outside with me all day with this weather. Great companion.
Same sentiments, when the gassifier has good wood and is running well, they are crazy on how many BTUs they put out with such minimal wood. But there's a part of me that wishes I just got a C250 as it would just be easier to chuck some random wood in at times.
Yeah I hear ya. I did like my g10000 when she ran well. But when they start having issues it gets super frustrating. But having a boiler to where you can just throw in whatever and close the door is always nice. Sometimes simplicity is key. May not be as efficient but way less that can go wrong.
Wow, you covered a lot today. Sounds like burning the wood stove in the house helps a lot and may provide some efficiency for what you are using your boiler for. Love that dump trailer. Great investment. As for the JD?, can you get a block heater for it? I know it takes forever for the hydraulics to warm up before it starts moving at speed? As for your firewood, not surprised you have more customers coming to you every year.
I’m really trying to conserve wood really. Just because I really do not have enough stock piled for the rest of the winter for the boiler. Because I think I’m going to keep the kiln going until spring and just keep selling. So burning in the house drastically reducing wood consumption in the boiler. Block heater may be the next thing for the tractor.
Hi Matt GREAT video... I aggee with all your comments !! LOL several times on " Young Generation Not so MUCH " and I think that has a fair bit to do with what the schools are saying isn't important to learn anymore !!!!!😊 Merry Christmas to you snd Family !
Yeah I believe the schools are just ruining the youth. It’s really unfortunate. Sometimes I just have to vent. Haha. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.
I stack in totes because I know the quantity is exactly what it needs to be everytime. Not a guesstimate. That way I know exactly how much wood I’m delivering and have on hand. Some say they would rather give more wood than not enough. To operate a business correctly you have to know your profits. I’m not in business for charity or non profit. If you don’t know your numbers exactly then what are you doing? Make sense?
We process directly into a Disc Cleaner and load from the pile with a loader.. seems to work quite well.. thinking next year we will offer cheaper not cleaned wood to people that don't want to pay the extra for a clean product
Yeah trust me I want a disc cleaner. I almost want two of them. To process right into and another one when the wood is dried to dump back into to get all the rest of the debris out. But right now disc cleaner is not in this years budget. Hoping to have one next summer.
Yep that’s right. This isn’t a non profit. I know my numbers. To run a successful business you have to know your numbers. So when people say a little extra all the time. That adds up when you start selling hundreds of cords a year.
I’ve always liked your opinion on quality control. Thanks for covering that again. I think you’re %100 correct. I am just starting out and I follow your advice more than anyone else I’ve seen on RUclips.
Thank you I appreciate that. If you have any questions or need any advice don’t hesitate to reach out.

I like the short pile the trailer makes when dumped! Quality control is key👍👍
That is the best part with this trailer. I don’t have to pull out very far and it beeps the pile pretty good. Customers love it.

Nice update Matt, keep them coming. Always looking for your video's.
I say this all the time. But I’m going to try and be more active making videos. I do enjoy doing them.

Totally agree on the quality control of stacking and getting clean dry wood. Do not want dirty wood in the house! Very nice quality as alway. 🔥
Yeah the end product is what it is all about.
I have a 2 US Stove Furnaces, one at camp and one at home. I agree nothing like the even heat of a wood stove/furnace. When I use my natural gas furnace it seems like I am always cold. Have a great Christmas! Jeff

That is a beast of a dump trailer. Very nice.
It will kill a transmission
Yes it is. Great purchase so far.
On a normal truck that may be so. This trailer is nothing compared to my huge trailer that I haul about 15k more with.

Matt excellent video ,you gotta do what you need to do! Your Kiln is killing it man that why you stack in totes?👍🇺🇸
I stack in totes because I know the quantity is exactly what it needs to be everytime. Not a guesstimate. That way I know exactly how much wood I’m delivering and have on hand. Fuel Suppliers generally don't treat anything until oct 15. I think they're required to treat it from oct15-apr15. Not sure about off road fuel tho
Good to know. I would think off road they would but maybe not.
Looking good 💪
Oh yeah!
Not to mention, the guys that don’t measure but are honest, give a lot of wood away! Lost profit!
Yep that’s right. This isn’t a non profit. I know my numbers. To run a successful business you have to know your numbers. So when people say a little extra all the time. That adds up when you start selling hundreds of cords a year.
