Unfortunately the people “politicians” your trying to convince to do something about tool theft are just as bent if not more than the people organising theft
Jeremy Vine covered this issue on R2 a couple of days ago. It's heartless & depressing. Even super locks; they will just tear your van like sardine can. CCTV coverage, Pah!
Wish I’d been aware of this……would have come along in my Transit Connect that still has a big hole in the side door that was cut with a recip saw in Epping Tube station car park last august. That car park is British Transport Police jurastiction…..they did sod all, wouldn’t even check their own cctv !!

Looked like everyone was in London having a nice meet up, guess it can't be all tears. Permanent fix: Government make such great changes that thieves stop breaking into vans or are atleast put them off. That would be the day. Temporary repair: Get good van insurance Get good locks Park in safer spots Take expensive tools out the van Don't buy expensive tools Do jobs that involve less expensive tools like repairs rather than installs Get better van alarm Avoid having signage that states you're in the building trade and therefore have tools worth stealing
There was an interview with someone from Fix Radio discussing this problem yesterday. I think it might have been Talk Radio so not many listeners then, unfortunately.

The sad fact is, there’s probably very few people going round breaking into these vans, and they’ve all got a record as long as your arm, but there’s no room in the prisons. We need more prisons and longer jail time. Vote Reform.
What about the nightingale hospitals? Theses could be made into low security prisons and then freeing up cells for high security prisoners. They are lying to us , there are ways to mend the situation. Free people who have done minor crimes.
canceled petition, how convienient. the real problem stems from policing.. crime ref number. tara. you try and get an appointtment with an inspector, near impossible. they don't want to know. gas safe also makes it too easy. search and you have 5 vans within............ these scumbags dont just drive around. good job for at least trying.
Problem stems from Govt crime and punishment policy, a weak judicial system, and those who buy stolen tools and create demand. Blaming policing just shifts the blame from the real culprits and thus the problem will never be solved.

Can't believe I didn't know about this I would of joined in as my van got done over just before x ma's last year and the insurance was a night mare

Wish id known.... i was cleaned out last Friday in London. Bastards had £6k of gear out of my van.
Got done 3 weeks ago, found my power kit listed on marketplace, police didn’t do much than issue a crime reference number
Should have arranged to meet the seller along with a few of your friends…..
