It’s pretty well documented that getting a channel off the ground requires appealing to an established audience rather than trusting the AI to find the right people for your content. I’d be careful giving that advice to new creators!
Yes, that is a great idea to include with this video. The masses may gravitate towards content like mrbeast but, as many of us are discovering in recent times, it might not be ultimately be what we truly want or find productive/healthy. While there is truly excellent insight into general human psychology in this video, I can't help but to be inspired by content from Joe Rogan or Andrew Yang that proves that there is a counter-effect of people that want long-form, slower-paced content.
Wow. Since watching your videos I have gone from spending about 30 minutes on a single video to about 10 hours on a single video. Since I have been putting this extra effort in its much easier for me to recognize how much went into this video. The planning, filming, researching, editing, etc.. holy cow. Good work, this is seriously amazing.
Hi there 🎉 loving your content, you are really, really good on camera 👏🏽👏🏽. How would you apply this to a fitness/ workout channel? Any tips I could implement?
This was your best video to date! Literally followed the formula you were presenting, & the pace, info, & entertainment factor was all there right from the start & never stopped. Great example to follow!!!
As a video guy from a marketing background I know a lot of these tips and tricks but always love watching your video to give me perspective on the videos that I make. That mentality of "this will do" is always an issue when you are making content all the time and are also busy working, but it's one that you have to get past! Appreciate the reminders and the small incremental tweaks for RUclips videos that really make a difference in the long run!
A breakdown of slower paced videos would be super helpful. Certainly, the high energy and super enhanced videos like yours and his are effective, but many channels are quieter or minimalist. Would love to see a gurus take on how to make those kinds of videos the best they can be.
@@FilmBooth oh fab! That's refreshing and will be a great video I'm sure. Thank you for all your hard work bringing us tips and tactics in the most professional and entertaining way ever.
@@FilmBooth That's an awesome idea! I always wondered why quiet, peaceful vlogs were so popular and get *millions* of views, while seem to have no storyline!
I like making stories and skits at the beginning of the videos to connect with the viewers and get them hooked, when should I cut it out and get to the content altogether right away and when should I build up stories and funny or dramatic scenarios before starting the content itself? When is that just considered part of the content itself and when is it seen as fluff?
I am amazed at how you are able to break it down, I've been trying to do that for the last week and just felt super overwhelmed. Thanks for putting this up!
😂 oh that old thing! I wanted to do a dedicated video but it takes me so long to plan and make these they'd have been on Team Bees by the time I had it done
Generation 50+ here and I love quick editing. We are not too slow for that. We are just not used to quick editing as we grew up with television shows that were not that fast paced. Just think of "Upstairs, Downstairs" or (in Germany) "Derrick" - they were not very fast paced. So I am not sure if this is really an age thing. :) Love your videos - keep on going!
Great video bro but I think the part that resonates the most with me is - “Edit for your own viewer”. I feel like so many people are trying to be like Mr. Beast in the way they edit and present their videos. While Mr Beast’s editing is great, it’s not for everyone. For instance Yes Theory edit in more cinematic, movie like style which is complementary to the type of story they tell… There’s a lot we as creators can learn from Mr. Beast, but overall, I feel RUclips is a place for originality. In originality and great story telling, you’ll eventually find your audience.
Yeah, bro same! I've been seeing of bunch of people who are using the same editing as Mr. Beast and like the same content. Like with the yelling in the intro then they go do something else. I don't like Mr. Beast that much anymore I prefer his older videos. But, I don't think people should always copy him they need to try to be more original. Like ZHC Is basically a Mr. Beast art channel now lol. I liked him before but not anymore. I just don't like Mr. Beast anymore since everyone uses his editing style now it's overused and the newer Mr. Beasts editing is different than before and I personally like the older one more.
Excellent and highly effective! Your learned tactics worked and kept me watching to the end. I literally couldn't look away because there was so much happening. Well done.

Congrats on this video! So good to see it taking off. You deserve it! And so many incredible lessons in this one too. I want to thank you, because you have ignited a passion for video editing for me, which I didn't have before. I am having so much fun editing my videos now, which used to be something I found a real drag. I also find that when I edit, I tend to edit for humour. Usually I am not a funny person, but from your inspiration, it seems my latest videos are becoming comedies, and I love it!!
I love slower pacing in videos. Every guru says to keep it moving, but I thought of how many viewers like an easy flow. I’ve been watching the original Upstairs Downstairs, and I love how still each scene is. You feel like you’re in the room, observing.

I've definitely had moments where I was editing a video on a deadline because the vid was due the next day, I did some things in editing that made me say "good enough" or "I know I can do better but the video needs to be out tomorrow" because I was kinda in a rush to get it done. Mr. Beast is a great template for trying to achieve watch time and audience retention goals. he even explains in detail himself on the handful of podcasts hes on about how he perfected making a viral video every video.
He is! The content he's created just stands out. It's a great take-away for any niche, really - a channel is much more likely to explode if it has an unique twist to it.
As you were talking I thought "and he's Mr Beast" haha. Personality and storytelling is key. A big area this is missing is tutorials who just walk you through the method when they could add an interesting story behind why you'd use this story etc. Great work dude.
I attended your thumbnail workshop recently and it's just got me so excited to learn more the psychology of what will get the click (and learn more about Photoshop). I really value how you help contextualize a lot of this common advice (HAVE A LOT OF PATTERN INTERRUPTS, MAKE YOUR HOOK SHORT) and discuss some of the nuance about it (have pattern interrupts but keep YOUR audience viewer in mind...make a short hook but if you don't, make sure it's involving some element of story). Ok, going to go finish the video now :)
🤯 How do you do that Ed? The experience of watching this video is out of this world. You level up each time and lead by example. No wonder that I shared so many of your videos on my newsletter already. Thank you so much for your work! Cheers, Nico
Thanks for taking the time to research this - really good content. I like how you showed the tips on the coffee stained paper. What did you use? PowerPoint?
Random Question... How do you add text in your content? Is it just in adobe? or can you do it FCP? Also got all the way to the end and you have a very popular? How?.... Also how have only just found these videos is the real Question! Mental!

*thank you lots of good info* 😁🙌🏼 love the background music i always hear it on tiktok love the song GREAT VIDEO!!!!!
The best video I have seen by you! I learned so much - Thank you. How much longer did it take to edit compared to an average video?
I will definitely try this. So interesting.
Well done with your research ☺️👍☺️
i love how the things u show , u also put in ur own content and me seeing the video til the end just proves it works
Dude, great video! You made every single second in this video interesting 🤝
What a bloody brilliant video.
🤯 How do you do that Ed? The experience of watching this video is out of this world. You level up each time and lead by example. No wonder that I shared so many of your videos on my newsletter already. Thank you so much for your work! Cheers, Nico
Hey man! Thank you so much for all your work, it really motivates me to keep grinding and focus on making better videos! Thanks!
Mental!
Thanks for another great and incredibly useful insider view of fine-tuning your YT channel/videos!
If i start doing that much editing etc etc. I'll get Overwhelmed. Awesome Videos 🙃
Its something that you would build to, subtle versions of what I talk about are a great way to get started
Story telling and setting stakes - absolute game changer thanks!
