It must be such a treat to live in a country where it's safe enough to have freedom of movement.
Wonderful place!! Beautiful work Shayda!💙
So much talent!
What a fun video!
Wowww
One of my artist friends uses a small (8x10) cross body satchel that she tucks two small pint sized jars into. This allows her to stand and even walk while painting. She uses the Sakura paint palette of 24 -ish colors that opens with space to have a very small piece of paper (postcard sized). She also showed me how to use a clipboard (for a slightly larger sized paper and more stability. She actually uses large rubber bands (the ones that are used on vegetables like celery or broccoli - in the grocery stores) to secure the palette, paper towel, and a 5x7 sized journal to the clip board. It's genius and very mobile. Great video, BTW. It's good to see you outside.
Lovely!
Thank You 🙏 Shayda xoxo 💋
What a beautiful couple! Thanks for sharing!
I looove this painting and this place!! 😊
This was a super cool video!!!
I grew up on the Bay of Fundy! So cool to see this.
Lovely! What a beautiful area!
I absolutely loved this so much!!!!!
Thanks dear!
Shayda, you painted beautifully. Your vacation keepsake is a great idea, and it only needs to capture the essence of an experience to be a great keepsake. I’m going up to the Lake Superior shore next week. I planned to take needlework along. And I plan to do a lot of beach-combing, but now I also plan to make some art. Thanks for the inspiration. PS: you have a lovely comments section going on here. People can be super nice. It gave me a happy feeling. 🌅
Omg. New Adventure!
beautiful place! and beautiful painting!
Shayda, you did a wonderful piece for your first plein air painting! I' m sure you will cherish it, as well as the memories it evokes!
Absolutely! I was thinking that when I got it home :)
You are so awesome, Shayda! i love how brave you are doing something you don't feel you're "accomplished at" live for us! I am inspired to take my paints outside! You often inspire me to get my supplies out and try something. Thank you for doing what you do! I've been following you for years and always feel like your posts are my happy treat! Also i loved seeing your hubby and the landscape, I grew up watching Anne of Green Gables , but being from the States, I haven't had the chance to explore those places. I hope I will one day! Keep em coming!
Great video and wonderful painting. A bit of advice. Ditch the canning jar for plein air water. Instead, try this: Clip your paint kit to your paper block. You might have to move it on occasion depending upon the scene you're painting but it will free up a hand. Then get a Nalgen 30ml bottle for the water. They come in all sizes but they're 1) unbreakable and 2) seal very well. I've found the 30ml size is large enough that your water doesn't pollute as quickly as some of the tiny water reservoirs AND you can hold it in the same hand that holds your wiping towel. This idea came from Marc Taro Holmes but I've been using it for several years and it works great. I actually carry two of these bottle so that if one does become dirty I've got a second one available.
Now for a question. I was surprised by your use of white to create your grays. They're beautiful and it looks like you were producing gray-greens as well as more neutral grays. The increase opacity you achieve seemed to allow you to get that misty/foggy feeling of the painting. I'd love to hear more about that nifty trick.
Very cool painting Shayda. Loved the scenery
Oh Shayda, you’re so clever! You captured the misty magic of the beach so beautifully. Thank you for sharing.
I love everything from the video😀😍
Oh wow! I loved this video. I now have a new bucket list item - see the Bay of Fundy. Your painting is lovely but I also wanted to see the tide come in and explore the rocks. You sometimes surprise us, your followers, with a little tour of where you are. Please do it again. You have no idea just how good you are at showing us around.
So glad you enjoyed the 'tour', we will absolutely do more videos like this!
You are very innovative. Love you more 😍😘
More by mistake
If you like spooky foggy Canadian national parks with no tourists around yet, I gotta recommend the Tablelands in Gros Morne in May
So much fun! Enjoyed this relaxing video. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks!! 😊
It’s reallyyy prettyyy pic!!!!
So simple yet so beautiful! Thanks for sharing Bay of Fundy! 😊❤️
My kind of favourite place -greyish, foggy and a little bit green also the bay kinda relaxing tho. Thank you for sharing this lovely video🙇🏼♀️💖
I painted it with you! Fun!
BEAUTIFUL! work. You did a great job.
Love this glimpse of you out camping and painting while perched on a rock. Great painting and what a beautiful part of the world!
Shayda thanks for your effort
a touch of an artist
Shayda. This was perfection from start to finish! Beautiful video, painting. Loved it all please do more I also feel intimidated to do Plein air but u showed how to make it simple and catch the essence. I’m so excited to try now. And I love that u are moving out of your comfort zone and coming up with new ideas. I adored the house painting and now this! Yes! Please continue more of both of these. 😎🦋❤️🌈. Thank u
I can feel the spookiness - especially with the fog. I'm in Calgary. No ocean views. Thanks for the vid.
Wow awesome 👍😍
What I really appreciate about this is how beautiful and simple the painting is. I always feel intimidated to paint outside because I feel like it won’t look exactly like where I am. Nice to know you can get the essence of a place without it looking the exact same.
I love this. Your "outside" videos are brilliant.
Thank you so much!
I loved this video, thanks for sharing Shayda 🌸
I've got a tiny travel palette that holds 6 paints and it folds up to credit card size, I've also got the portable painter which you can stand on the ground or put across your knee, also colapsable water pots and the Windsor and newton travel bag so much easier
It's great watching you paint and explore such a beautiful place! More like this, please.
The Bay of Fundy is stunning! I'm here on the west coast of Canada and I fully appreciate the beauty of the ocean. I couldn't live far from it and be happy.
What a great experience. Thanks for sharing with us!
So beautiful, you look so at peace ...Thank you for sharing
Absolutely loved this video, the painting and the beautiful scenery you shared with us. Thank you so much, Shayda.❣️
What a beautiful place and your painting came out super nice too🖒☺
Lovely painting and setting. Blick has a light French easel on sale now for USD89 till mid October. I just bought one because beaches are my happy place too. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Awesome video Shayda! I always wondered about painting with watercolors outside. Love your painting. Looks like y’all had a fun trip. Thanks for taking us along.
Thank you - always wanted more information on this. Looks like fun. Thanks for sharing your exploits.
I really enjoyed this. Thanks for taking us along with you two on your camping trip to an extremely beautiful locale!
Really enjoyed this video - thank you!
Hi Shayda. Thank you for sharing this. You might want to check out The White Rabbit’s setup for Urban sketching for your plein aire expeditions..
That looks like so much fun! Such beautiful scenery 💕💜 Thank you for sharing 💜
I love all your adventures Shayda! We recently went camping in the Pennsylvania Nat. Forest and I also brought my paints with the intent of painting some of the landscape and I didn’t. It is intimidating! But seeing this made me want to go back and try again! 🌲
Gorgeous, Shayda! Thanks for sharing.
You guys are too cute!!!
We're coming into Spring now in the Southern Hemisphere and I'm working up the courage to paint like this in the gorgeous weather and scenery
Your r my inspration
I am in love with ur paintings
Really nice painting
That looked wonderful! And your painting is beautiful.
That backpack though...! Is that their ochre color? LOVE everything about this video. You are amazingly talented and I appreciate you sharing it with the world. Thank you!
Your videos are always so inspiring! I sent my Summer vacations in Maine growing up and we could see the Prince of Fundy boat coming and going from Portland to Canada everyday, so I fee a connection to this video! Your painting is wonderful, I'm always excited when I see a new video from you! I love your backpack, please tell us the brand! Happy painting and keep the videos coming.
Welcome to NB! I have been watching your channel for quite some time now. Finally got the hang of subscribing and ringing that bell... but just recently realized that you were from PEI... I'm here in NB.
Loved this video! Especially the extra footage of your trip !!
Campfire nachos!! 😂 So glad you enjoyed it!! 💕
Shayda Campbell those looked bomb though 💯
What a lovely painting. I didn't get to the Bay of Fundy when I visited PEI this summer but will on my next trip. I also didn't try plein air painting although I did take a lot of reference photos to use at home. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks for sharing some of your camping memories Shayda, I'm in Australia and it's so interesting to see the sights where people camp around the world! I have always wanted to come to Canada. Hopefully one day!
Great video. Would to see more like this. Your painting turned out really well 😊
Such a fun video! The behind the scenes were fun too - such a cute couple😊 I have tried painting outdoors, well, on my back patio with your videos playing🤣
I loved this video! You are such classic beauty and I'm super jealous that you live on PEI!
Aw thanks Kimberly! PEI is definitely the best place to be in the summers, now just have to get through the winter LOL
Thanks for sharing! Your landscape turned out beautiful. You should check out The Portable Painter. It's a great little compact palette that makes plein air painting more convenient. Cheers!
Ok, amazing! TFS 👍❤️
I've recently taken up watercolor and your chanel has quickly become my favorite. I was surprised and delighted to find that you are also located in PEI. Thank you for your wonderful videos.
I adore your art and your art style! Super cute painting and video. I am hoping to see and sketch my travels next month when I tour the area where my Acadian ancestors lived (all around Bay of Fundy). Hopefully I will also see PEI and find your shop!
Been there! It looks almost identical to my home on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state!
I need to get out and do plein aire more too...we get so comfortable in our own studios we often have a hard time breaking out of our comfort zones. Thanks for the encouragement!
L O V E ! 💚
Really amazing 😍 *varsha artwork*
I’d love to see you paint in Jasper!!
You did a fabulous job and LOVE the view! We are in Maine on the east coast, wonderful place!
The way you showed in your video is fine for small watercolor sketching. But if you want to do larger paintings outdoors, maybe you'd want to invest in a French sketchbox easel like oil painters use. When I use mine for watercolor, I adjust the angle of the easel to 45 degrees and tape my watercolor paper to a drawing board and put it on it. It's really easy.
You are very beautiful...sometimes we have to leave ourselves to nature and let it touch our lives and inspire us🤗💗😻😻😻😻😻😻
The Bay of Funday is Beautiful I have been there before so Amazing xoxo 💋
Such a soothing one. Do more outdoor paintings like this.. as if some of us, couldn't afford some places to see.
I loved your painting! And your tattoo 🥰
Great painting, thanks for sharing. The video made me want to go to the Bay of Fundy (and paint) . Donna
Nice painting. Yummy nachos.
I just subscribed your channel... you are amazing!...very soothing voice and videos.
What a gorgeous place and I love your watercolour landscape ❤️
Also, it was so nice to see some extra footage.
Very nice video and the shots with your hubby. I have a similar question as Mr Marshall concerning your use of white.
I have noticed Asian artist use white not so many here in the western world Please teach us how you use it
I don't even have any in my stash so would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you for providing videos
This is so lovely! I like the peek into your camping too :) I do a lot of painting outside, and I really enjoy it. At home I often use tutorials (mostly yours, obvs ☺️) when painting, and I like that painting outside gets me put the lessons I've learned into action & let go of perfection. It's a good practice.
Also, thanks for sharing a link to paintbrushes you recommend! Have you made a video about the different types of brushes (round, angled, fan...) and when to use them? That would be so helpful!
Thanks, Shayda!
What a great video! I loved it! Your bathing suit is super cute :D. So fun seeing you and your guy together camping - definitely make more of this videos. Your painting came out beautiful!
Thanks, Gina!
Exactly what I asked for😭❤️
There is an absolutely brilliant watercolour artist called Poppy Balser, who lives in that area and paints in the Bay of Fundy often - she has a self titled website - I think you or anyone reading this comment would really enjoy her art...
You’re awesome
Can you please make a travel essentials video.
If You ever get that easel please do a review. I need one as well.
Great video! Loved the painting you made and the scenery!
What does Chris do when you are painting?
Dear girl, when are you going to introduce us to Chris?
