As an American I would like to say that yes, Mr. Hagel does make me proud. Unfortunately for every good republican politician in this country, there are literally hundreds of the kind like Bush, Cheney, and Ashcroft. Please tell your countrymen that many of us are sorry for the mess that these damn idiots created, and that we are doing our best to keep these fools out of office.

The fact that "we have to win" does not mean that winning is likely or even possible. Then what? At what point do we walk away? This notion that "we have to win" is dangerous. That could go on for ever. At what point does the cost exceed the benefit? I'd say the day we spent our first dollar on this mess.

What is WORSE is the fact that Hagel was one of the co-sponsors of the Iraqi Liberation Act in 1998 that explicity called for regime change in Iraq and US Govt support for opposition groups trying to fight Saddam. Its the 10 th year annivesary of that resolution - passed 5 years before the fricking war. Hagel is a moral coward for trying to have the cake and eat it too.and i say this despite his great military record.

Senator Hagel's objective assessment of events is what our great country needs and yet we are still debating whether "Evangelicals" should play the key role in political ongoings of our country! Wake up America, Bush/McCain/Palin are not the answer; Hagel is. Republicans must unite around leaders like Hagel and avoid Palin like a plague!

i find it curious that in our society which we call a democracy (rule of majority), our democratically elected officials (chosen by the majority) are disinclined to listen to said majority about anything relating to policy. but then again, those white house offices weren't taken by force, we the people have allowed them to become complacent in their roles as autocrats,allowing them to tell us to "shut up,stop whining,we know whats best for you." democracy is dying,and the blood is on our hands.
