THIS IS GREAT! My wife got me to go to three of these conventions. The first two people were VERY VERY nice to me. (I think its called "Love bombing" when they know you OR someone in their group) Then this last day of the convention I just wore a nice shirt, no tie, no jacket , and all the people who before were SUPER nice to me looked at me like an outsider. I'd say "Hi" or give them a casual smile as I walked by and they'd drop their heads or look away. If ANYBODY is currently "In The Truth" and doubt this even a little bit, leave your coat and tie at your chair and walk around the convention and TRY to spark up a casual conversation. Yes. As far as "relieving ourselves" it HAS come to that for many JWs. At one talk, the brother talked about how some JWs were in a cesspool and the elder there had everyone hold their pee and poo until they couldn't absolutely hold it any longer. This was very moving for us in the audience. And let's not talk about field service. If door to door, we KNOW we hold it if we have to go.

What this video shows are the results of people who have been up since o'dark thirty getting kids dressed, gas in the car, breakfast and lunch made and packed, bring correct WT material for the day all before they leave the house to hurry up and drive a distance of up to 50 miles to wait in line for entry for up to an hour or more. Only to have to run...errr walk quickly to their seats. (not to include if someone in the family has a morning assignment). ALL in preparation for their convention. Throw into account all the effort made during the work week to put their lives on hold for three consecutive days. They're weighed down from the anxiety (and exhausted) before the WT event starts. They lack the energy and effort to stop and cordially acknowledge someone because of this. They can't give what they don't have during their events.....Love. There's a reason why every year the KM has to remind the sheeple not to save seats, not take food from the hotels, not to run to their seat(s) when the doors open. I feel sorry for these people. And to think I used to be one of them. Freedom from the WitchTower!
While I have been disfellowshipped for some time, from what I understand the guidelines on shunning no longer apply to only disfellowshipped members. Witnesses are encouraged to use their own judgement and "mark" any in the congregation that they perceive as bad association. Such "marking" can take place for any justifiable reason. Maybe a brother doesn't spend enough time in the ministry, doesn't prepare for meetings or maybe associates with relatives that are not JW's. ...All valid reasons and perfectly justifiable. JW's are honestly some of the most petty and least loving people you'll find anywhere. When it comes down to it there are only a few things that matter. Field service time and piousness, thats it. Pointing out each others faults and clutching your pearls about minor things that aren't even any of your business are all that witnesses are good for.

I can't think of another religious event on the planet where people would not treat a stranger so unkindly. Now imagine having your mother or your father or your children treating you like that for the rest of your life. JW's certainly don't imitate Jesus at all. The 2015 Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses is a perfect example of Watchtower hypocrisy.

This is NOT video about "shunning". That term refers to the practise called "disfellowshipping". This guy is approaching people and putting a microphone in their faces. They have no obligation to talk to him. He doesn't even look like he is a member of the press, so he is a private citizen with an agenda. He is free to do it but they are not "shunning". Peter Gwynn Please don’t be ignorant. Disfellowshipping is a euphemism for shunning in Jehovah Witness culture. I do agree that they have no obligation to speak to him because he is obviously trying to provoke the witnesses. However, the shunning practice is a real thing. Disfellowshipping in other denominations simply means spiritual separation. For the witnesses, physical as well as spiritual separation is considered. Physical separation is literally shunning.

I always remember some God botherers came round my grand parents house and knocked on the door. My grandad let them in sat them down let them talk their shit for 10 or so minutes then started to preach his beliefs to them for the next 2 hours. What I find totally sad about this video is that if the JWs knocked on your door and you ignored them they would tell other jws that they were being persecuted.
Many religion preach shunning of different degree. But they are shunned, they claim to be persecuted. Imagine if a government sign says "no JW allowed" or a store say "no JW allowed inside", etc. The world will hear they scream the loudest. I had this argument with a JW friend (are we really friends or does he tolerate me cus I was his university supervisor). If I was his boss, and I got disfellowshipped, will he quit his job to avoid having to deal with me? His answer shocked me. He said he will keep his job and keep everything on official basis. No social activities with me. Then I asked another question with him being the boss and I his staff (say personal assistant). He didn't want to answer the question directly. He said he will do anything possible to dissociate with me. I asked does that include firing me? He still didn't want to answer Yes or No. Till today, he's not answered that question. Will you fire your disfellowshipped subordinate/employee knowing fully well that his family (who are also expected to shun him) depend fully on him? Will you make donations for the family if you fire the man and expect the family to shunn him? These people don't have all the answers as they claim.
I think most people would ignore condescending questions from someone holding a mic in front of a camera interrupting them while they walk with their families, especially when they know that they are being scrutinized. You should go into a mall and try the same thing and see what results you get. I promise you it will be a less pleasant experience. I don't agree with their practices either but there are far better ways to state your case than to ambush people with a camera. This is your right to freedom of speech but don't act like you have a valid "GOTCHA!" piece here.
This is not like going to the mall. One of the reasons JW's go to conventions is to learn how to convert people to their religion before 'Armageddon' wipes out everyone except JW's. This was the perfect opportunity for JW's to save a lost soul. Instead they made their organization look bad and showed their true colors.

Jehovah witnesses are absolutely blind to what the Scriptures teach. It is sad that there is such bondage for their members that must obey everything that comes off the printing press. What is going to be really shocking is when the followers of this cult die and realize there really is a lake of fire. But then it will be too late. Only Jesus can save, obey acts chapter 2 and verse 38. That scripture says, then peter said onto them, repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

I'll be the first to admit the Witnesses have SOME truth, but as Paul Told timothy, they are proving "false to its power" (2 Tim. 3:5). Can you imagine first century Christians acting like we see in the video in the same setting? No! They would been all over that guy and given him the Gospel! Witnesses, as the video gives ample evidence of, are filled with fear, fear of what? It doesn't really matter because the true Christian is supposed to be filled with the kind of love which supersedes fear (1 John 4:16-18). So what we see here is that in spite of having some truth, it just doesn't cut the mustard in their case.

Going door to door isn't even a sign that one is a Christian to begin with. so why the Watchtower keeps claiming it is the foremost sign amazes me. What the passage you did cite commands is to go forth to the nations and make disciples and teach them to observe the things Jesus taught. There are many way to do that, going door to door is one of the least productive of those methods. I'm disabled physically and unable, so I use other methods which come to hand. So I do stand with a clean conscience in the matter before Jehovah, the great and wonderful God who epitomizes love, and requires it of us in our ministry as well. I stand by my words, Mrk, the Witnesses are misled. They've been led to believe that billions have already gone, and billions more will go, into the second death without even a fair trial at the flood and at Armageddon. They've been led to believe that Israel is permanently from God's favor despite both biblical and historical evidence to the contrary. That was one thing Russell didn't back down on, the fact that Israel was restored to God's favor and that 1914 paved the way for their return as both a people and a nation. I know the man who post this would likely disagree with you and I on what is truth, the Arianism, the soul sleep, I could go on in that vain. But why belabor the point and shove our common beliefs in our host's face? My point is that the Watchtower switched from a journal proclaiming God's love and plan for mankind to a theology which is every bit as much a theology of fear as the hell-fire doctrine of the majority of Christendom. Given that theology of fear, and fear of man, the elders, is it any wonder we have to spectacle we see in the video? The Gospel is liberating, not fear inducing. Think about it, Jesus was sent down to earth to save every human from Adamic death so they could learn the Gospel and all have the chance they never had in this world to accept and live for God (1 Tim. 2:4-6), which the NWT mistranslated where it uses the phrase "all sorts of." What there is now is the law of love, love for God, neighbor, and our brothers and sisters. The apostle John tells us there is no fear in love (1 John 4:18). Think about it dear friend. Real Christians would've had absolutely no fear of speaking to that man and sharing the Gospel with him.

This video is such a slap of reality, I really feel bad for the interviewer on this video. You can easily see he approches these (Christian...?) people with such kindness and in an very unobtrusive manner directing a simple enough question that anyone who truly loved God would certainly not be opposed nor hesitate to answer. The question: "Do you immitate Jesus"?" Yet, there he is on video asking this question and being treated as such an outcast, shunned and basically pushed aside. It shows these JW's in their true light and they make it so painstakingly apparent. Notice they have just come out of a building from an entire day of worshipping God??? preto shohmoofc guy A pure language is what I spoke of, but this has not happened yet, if you read the Scriptures (KJV/Geneva, none other Bible versions, all others are inaccurate) you will find this is impossible to have already occurred. See Zephaniah 3 You are free to do what you will on God's Holy Sabbath day, now on the other hand.. If you wish to do as God has commanded us all, you would attempt to keep it holy, not trample upon it, as scripture teaches us. And to know that Christ taught us that the Sabbath was made for us all! I can tell you they don't imitate Jesus because my brother is a witness and he not only yelled at me, but got upset when I told him I was ready to give my life to Jesus and be baptized. He said I needed basic knowledge of the bible to do this and then he ask me do you know when the end is, I replied no one knows the day or hour only God himself and he told me I was wrong. He also wanted nothing to do with me after that and called me an apostate.

They came to my door before and I really was amazed by what they showed me from the bible. I used my own bible to look up the scriptures and all was there. They showed me that God does have a name and his name will become known throughout the whole earth before the end comes. It really does make sense because even Satan has a name so why wouldn't god have a name. They also showed me in Revelation that Satan is the "god" of this system and he is out to mislead people and blind people of the biblical truths. They even showed me that the name Jehovah is still in the king james version at Psalms 83:18 one of the places they forgot to remove it. So all in all I give them a thumbs up for their bible knowledge and teaching me the things that my religion don't even know about which is right there in the bible. These people are real and should be rewarded for their efforts of teaching others like me the truths from the bible.

Since it's a secret organization, only insiders would know enough to criticize them. Obviously this man didn't have a name tag and he was wondering around asking 'Do you imitate Jesus'? JW's would never do that at their conventions. They assumed he must be an apostate looking to 'shake their faith' in Jehovah. This is the way they've been treating apostates since 1952. It's a way of life and normal, 'loving' behavior. If they don't talk to you, they presume you will be so depressed, it will pressure you to 'return to Jehovah'. And since they believe God will save only JW's, shunning is a loving thing to do. They don't consider how many resort to alcohol, drugs, and suicide to numb the pain. They treat apostates as if they are dead because they believe Jehovah and 'His organization' (JWORG) is the only path. They don't believe Jesus is the only path, only hope, only God, and only faith they need to have eternal life. They believe Jesus is the angel Michael, created by Jehovah, to do Jehovah's will, even though the Bible makes it clear Jesus is God and should be worshipped. Philippians 2:10.

THIS IS GREAT! My wife got me to go to three of these conventions. The first two people were VERY VERY nice to me. (I think its called "Love bombing" when they know you OR someone in their group) Then this last day of the convention I just wore a nice shirt, no tie, no jacket , and all the people who before were SUPER nice to me looked at me like an outsider. I'd say "Hi" or give them a casual smile as I walked by and they'd drop their heads or look away.

So hard to believe. I was a Witness for 3 years and I was eventually shunned and disfellowshipped for simply "yoking with unbelievers", as they call it. All the world needs is the love Christ showed, and everyone and everything will simply be a better place of genuine love.
I did it for 7 years and married one. I did drugs and instead of getting love and help I was ignored by all my friends I made. I let go of all my worldly friends and lost all contact with them. So all my jw friends shunned me and it helped me how? The religion is not loving at all

What this video shows are the results of people who have been up since o'dark thirty getting kids dressed, gas in the car, breakfast and lunch made and packed, bring correct WT material for the day all before they leave the house to hurry up and drive a distance of up to 50 miles to wait in line for entry for up to an hour or more. Only to have to run...errr walk quickly to their seats. (not to include if someone in the family has a morning assignment). ALL in preparation for their convention. Throw into account all the effort made during the work week to put their lives on hold for three consecutive days.
They're weighed down from the anxiety (and exhausted) before the WT event starts. They lack the energy and effort to stop and cordially acknowledge someone because of this. They can't give what they don't have during their events.....Love.

While I have been disfellowshipped for some time, from what I understand the guidelines on shunning no longer apply to only disfellowshipped members. Witnesses are encouraged to use their own judgement and "mark" any in the congregation that they perceive as bad association. Such "marking" can take place for any justifiable reason. Maybe a brother doesn't spend enough time in the ministry, doesn't prepare for meetings or maybe associates with relatives that are not JW's. ...All valid reasons and perfectly justifiable. JW's are honestly some of the most petty and least loving people you'll find anywhere. When it comes down to it there are only a few things that matter. Field service time and piousness, thats it. Pointing out each others faults and clutching your pearls about minor things that aren't even any of your business are all that witnesses are good for.

I do agree that they have no obligation to speak to him because he is obviously trying to provoke the witnesses. However, the shunning practice is a real thing. Disfellowshipping in other denominations simply means spiritual separation. For the witnesses, physical as well as spiritual separation is considered. Physical separation is literally shunning.

What I find totally sad about this video is that if the JWs knocked on your door and you ignored them they would tell other jws that they were being persecuted.
Many religion preach shunning of different degree. But they are shunned, they claim to be persecuted. Imagine if a government sign says "no JW allowed" or a store say "no JW allowed inside", etc. The world will hear they scream the loudest.
I had this argument with a JW friend (are we really friends or does he tolerate me cus I was his university supervisor). If I was his boss, and I got disfellowshipped, will he quit his job to avoid having to deal with me? His answer shocked me. He said he will keep his job and keep everything on official basis. No social activities with me. Then I asked another question with him being the boss and I his staff (say personal assistant). He didn't want to answer the question directly. He said he will do anything possible to dissociate with me. I asked does that include firing me? He still didn't want to answer Yes or No. Till today, he's not answered that question. Will you fire your disfellowshipped subordinate/employee knowing fully well that his family (who are also expected to shun him) depend fully on him? Will you make donations for the family if you fire the man and expect the family to shunn him? These people don't have all the answers as they claim.
I think most people would ignore condescending questions from someone holding a mic in front of a camera interrupting them while they walk with their families, especially when they know that they are being scrutinized. You should go into a mall and try the same thing and see what results you get. I promise you it will be a less pleasant experience.
I don't agree with their practices either but there are far better ways to state your case than to ambush people with a camera. This is your right to freedom of speech but don't act like you have a valid "GOTCHA!" piece here.
This is not like going to the mall. One of the reasons JW's go to conventions is to learn how to convert people to their religion before 'Armageddon' wipes out everyone except JW's. This was the perfect opportunity for JW's to save a lost soul. Instead they made their organization look bad and showed their true colors.

I'll be the first to admit the Witnesses have SOME truth, but as Paul Told timothy, they are proving "false to its power" (2 Tim. 3:5). Can you imagine first century Christians acting like we see in the video in the same setting? No! They would been all over that guy and given him the Gospel! Witnesses, as the video gives ample evidence of, are filled with fear, fear of what? It doesn't really matter because the true Christian is supposed to be filled with the kind of love which supersedes fear (1 John 4:16-18). So what we see here is that in spite of having some truth, it just doesn't cut the mustard in their case.
+mrk107 Read the verse you cited, and then explain where in it are specific instructions to go door to door. There aren't. Going door to door isn't even a sign that one is a Christian to begin with. so why the Watchtower keeps claiming it is the foremost sign amazes me.
What the passage you did cite commands is to go forth to the nations and make disciples and teach them to observe the things Jesus taught. There are many way to do that, going door to door is one of the least productive of those methods. I'm disabled physically and unable, so I use other methods which come to hand. So I do stand with a clean conscience in the matter before Jehovah, the great and wonderful God who epitomizes love, and requires it of us in our ministry as well.
I stand by my words, Mrk, the Witnesses are misled. They've been led to believe that billions have already gone, and billions more will go, into the second death without even a fair trial at the flood and at Armageddon. They've been led to believe that Israel is permanently from God's favor despite both biblical and historical evidence to the contrary. That was one thing Russell didn't back down on, the fact that Israel was restored to God's favor and that 1914 paved the way for their return as both a people and a nation.
I know the man who post this would likely disagree with you and I on what is truth, the Arianism, the soul sleep, I could go on in that vain. But why belabor the point and shove our common beliefs in our host's face? My point is that the Watchtower switched from a journal proclaiming God's love and plan for mankind to a theology which is every bit as much a theology of fear as the hell-fire doctrine of the majority of Christendom.
Given that theology of fear, and fear of man, the elders, is it any wonder we have to spectacle we see in the video? The Gospel is liberating, not fear inducing. Think about it, Jesus was sent down to earth to save every human from Adamic death so they could learn the Gospel and all have the chance they never had in this world to accept and live for God (1 Tim. 2:4-6), which the NWT mistranslated where it uses the phrase "all sorts of." What there is now is the law of love, love for God, neighbor, and our brothers and sisters. The apostle John tells us there is no fear in love (1 John 4:18). Think about it dear friend. Real Christians would've had absolutely no fear of speaking to that man and sharing the Gospel with him.

This video is such a slap of reality, I really feel bad for the interviewer on this video. I can tell you they don't imitate Jesus because my brother is a witness and he not only yelled at me, but got upset when I told him I was ready to give my life to Jesus and be baptized. He said I needed basic knowledge of the bible to do this and then he ask me do you know when the end is, I replied no one knows the day or hour only God himself and he told me I was wrong. He also wanted nothing to do with me after that and called me an apostate.
Very sad. Sorry for your loss. Pray for your brother and all JW's. They know not what they're doing.

Yes they should be following Jesus’s example of the Good Samaritan, they love to preach it so often. They are more like the self-righteous unloving heartless priest and the levite who walked on the other side of the road to avoid the man in need who had been beaten and robbed lying on the ground. But when a Samaritan man whom the Jews considered apostate sinners from Satan came across the man lying on the ground he bandaged his wounds and carried him to the nearest inn and gave money to the innkeeper to take care of him until he returned. Luke 10:25-37.
Who showed godly love to this beaten up man traveling from Jerusalem on the road?
There was no godly love shown by the priest or the Levite who thought they were so righteous before God for being so heartless.
It was the apostate sinner from Satan who made himself a neighbor to the the beaten up Jewish man on the road, even though God’s chosen people the Jews hated the Samaritans as apostates. This is the kind of love Jesus teaches us we must have to please him, and which Jehovah’s Witnesses do not have, which tells you they have no idea of what godly love is because they are listening to the eighth anti-Christ’s GB in New York. You can read about them in the Bible in 2 Thessalonians 2nd Chapter.

Our God and Father desires to fellowship and communicate with his children through His son Jesus Christ, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The God of the Bible has not limited Himself to speaking only through the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society’s publications and leadership.

They came to my door before and I really was amazed by what they showed
me from the bible. I used my own bible to look up the scriptures and all
was there. They showed me that God does have a name and his name will
become known throughout the whole earth before the end comes. It really
does make sense because even Satan has a name so why wouldn't god have a
name. They also showed me in Revelation that Satan is the "god" of this
system and he is out to mislead people and blind people of the biblical
truths. They even showed me that the name Jehovah is still in the king
james version at Psalms 83:18 one of the places they forgot to remove
it. So all in all I give them a thumbs up for their bible knowledge and
teaching me the things that my religion don't even know about which is
right there in the bible. These people are real and should be rewarded
for their efforts of teaching others like me the truths from the bible.

@Mark Orman. They were probably told during the convention but JW's assume that everyone who has anything negative to say about them is a former JW. i.e. apostate. Since it's a secret organization, only insiders would know enough to criticize them. Obviously this man didn't have a name tag and he was wondering around asking 'Do you imitate Jesus'? JW's would never do that at their conventions. They assumed he must be an apostate looking to 'shake their faith' in Jehovah. This is the way they've been treating apostates since 1952. It's a way of life and normal, 'loving' behavior. If they don't talk to you, they presume you will be so depressed, it will pressure you to 'return to Jehovah'. And since they believe God will save only JW's, shunning is a loving thing to do. They don't consider how many resort to alcohol, drugs, and suicide to numb the pain. They treat apostates as if they are dead because they believe Jehovah and 'His organization' (JWORG) is the only path. They don't believe Jesus is the only path, only hope, only God, and only faith they need to have eternal life. They believe Jesus is the angel Michael, created by Jehovah, to do Jehovah's will, even though the Bible makes it clear Jesus is God and should be worshipped. Philippians 2:10.
