Jay-Z, a so-called master wordsmith, claiming to not know the history and lexicon of capitalism is beyond hilarious. you and the three other people you reference as billionaires on a DJ Khaled (of all people) song does not do anything to advance the plight of black people in this country or anywhere else. it's a rarefied, elitist lyric in a songbook packed full of them and that's it. who are these rhymes for, actually? just sit down on your yacht and eat your food like you been doing.
Well tbh in the past black people use to equal success to white institutions. Even today a black lawyer who is top in a white firm is praised in the community over a black lawyer who is top in a black firm. Because people equal success to being in white spaces or by getting approval from white systems. So Jay thinks it’s a flex to be the only black person in a room full of white billionaires discussing ways to contribute to a system that is oppressive. Because from his generation that’s what they were raised to believe was success. Being welcomed in a room full of white people. He went from a working slave to a house slave and now a black slave owner and he thinks it’s a flex. 💁🏾♀️
When Lemonade came out, I said that album was not a celebration of black people if you just listen to the lyrics and not the visuals. People thought I was tripping.

The thing is y’all shouldn’t let Jay Z fool you, he knows exactly what he is, he knows exactly the role he plays in the subjugation of working class black folk: he is LYING to preserve his brand.
I never really took their "Pro Black We're For The People" stance seriously but it was really driven home for me when they had their annual Oscar party at the Chateau Marmont even though the employees were protesting for a myriad of reasons including racial discrimination. They and other A list celebrities walked right past the protesters to attend their lavish event that night SMH
I don't think Jay Z and other celebs aren't reading or don't know of certain things. I believe they just truly don't think they are opps. I think he like a lot of folks think because they are black that they can't be.

I was just listening to Angie Stone’s “Mahogany Soul” a Monday night: that is a no-skips album, need to blow artists like her and Musiq back up. It is not hard to see how our music has been infiltrated, contaminated, and colonized: they figured out way back in the “Bonita Applebaum” and “Fight The Power” and “Teach Me” by Musiq and “U.N.I.T.Y.” and “Self Destruction” days that they cannot finance Black People loving and edifying each other in the music. Even the extent to which we can say Ice-T made Gangsta and Pimp Rap, it is still distinct from what N.W.A. and the G-funk guys and ESPECIALLY Too Short and 2 Live Crew were doing. We gotta stop making entertainers heroes just because they SAY SOME SHIT WE ALREADY BEEN SAYING AND LIVING: N.W.A. has that ONE SONG, “Fu** Tha Po****” but 40+ other songs talking about killing others like them in image and economic proximity, how you can’t trust women and beating women and reducing them to a mouth to stuff. If Black People were the functioning Community we should be, it wouldn’t have taken this long to see him for what he is and check his ability to accumulate an obscene level of wealth that makes him unaccountable to his own people. We should’ve known something was wrong when the media started talking about the phenomenon that was Rocafella and Rocawear as though he did it all himself, and when no one else’s wealth was climbing proportionally or even equally to his, and in terms of other rappers and rap dynasties bodies were dropping everywhere: catching Federal cases, descending in drug addiction, fake tax problems, 10-year bids; most of us never asked real questions why dis xigga was the only left standing. He ended up on the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame Stage just as he always wanted to be: alone.
I never listened to the 4:44 album because I already had the tea on what kind of condescending message would characterize it, and I already did not like Jay-Z: I’ve never forgiven him for betraying Roc La Familia.
Bravo and finger snaps!!!
you cleared him
And THAT’S that on that!
this ATEEE
When Lemonade came out, I said that album was not a celebration of black people if you just listen to the lyrics and not the visuals. People thought I was tripping.
this doesn’t have anything to do with beyoncé
@Nicole B. not really
@@kaylabey it's her husband wym it has nothing to do with her..I wouldn't even say it's her husband..they use each other
Beyoncé showed us what she thinks when she took pictures In that stolen blood diamond
Jay Z is just talking about himself. No one else.
EXACTLY
Facts 💯💯
Kendrick said it best “I’m not your savior” or any celebs they’re people just like us
That whole Tidal thing was an eye opener. I remember seeing a pic of Jay Z surrounded by his Tidal employees. Every one of them white. But I'm supposed to believe he's pro-Black?😒
Oop... not Basquiat wig! 🤣💀
She has a photo of her wearing the blood diamond in the new album like it was okay to regurgitate the photo? I'm so glad that someone else is seeing and saying something.
WAIT: she did??? OMFG. I am so beyond over these two. I say a reckoning on Bey is well overdue, anyone who knows the shadiness of her and her parents to start her career and the bodies in their wake….. I mean we have been terrible at actual accountability for so many of these artists who are just TRASH off stage.
Capitalism was a word long before Jayz was born
He didn't say capitalism, it was "capitalist"
@@donnao4644both are older than him
“Bye basquiat wig” 💀💀
King of Reads, you did that! Very concise, educational break down. EAT THE RICH!!!!
Jay-Z just talk slow and move his hands 💀💀💀
Not Basquiat wig. 🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀 I recently discovered your channel. Keep 'em coming.
“Get away from me with that Apollo” 😂😂😂😂
Great video Justin! You, Stephanie from Wine n Chill, and Kimberly Nicole Foster really did it all on this topic.
Basquiat wig I HOLLERED 🤣🤣
IM SO READY FOR THIS DRAG !!!
I'm inspired by how bp are pushing back against Jay Z. I expected WAY more support for him. People are learning
Lol!!!! We knew it was coming!!!!
I don't think Jay Z and other celebs aren't reading or don't know of certain things. I believe they just truly don't think they are opps. I think he like a lot of folks think because they are black that they can't be.
Thank you Justin, I am so disappointed in his rhetoric. I could never be a billionaire and let my people suffer then be mad when I am called out.
He is out of touch and far removed from his fan base and clearly uncomfortable with being called out about it🙄
I’m here for the drag
Excellent commentary. ..JayZ is an awful snake. He'll preach "don't do this or that" and then turn around backdoor and make a deal out of what he was "against "
To blow up within… why re invent the wheel
I do have to say thank you to JayZ because this is the 1st video I’ve seen of yours and am now a subscriber… I wonder how mad Beyoncé must be that he did this… she’s so careful of her image and now he’s making so many people wonder if she feels and thinks the same.
She ain’t no different, she use the image of Black woman to move like the betterment of a White woman.
I don’t think she cares bc she probably has the same philosophy. A lot of her actions outside of Jay Z shows that
Frankly some of us been wondering about her too. The both if them together just never sat right in my spirit.
I mean it’s the stans’ fault who buys every single thing these celebs put out just for them to turn around and flaunt their wealth. I know ppl who bought like 10 copies of the new Beyoncé album and were proud lol. Like you’re doing all of that just to help put gas in her private jet and you up here struggling.
I had to come to terms with that myself. I get absolutely disgusted hearing lyrics boasting about hoarding wealth and resources and yet we have people in this country who don’t have access to clean or safe water. But let these fools tell it, they just not working hard enough. I can’t even listen to Beyone anymore. When I caught the ‘only double lines we crossing are dollar signs’ I had to turn it off.
@@NuancedSkeptic they’ve been out of touch with the community for years. I’m like get your paper just not from me. I only support certain celebs unless they offer a product that’s above the rest . I like Rihanna but Nyx has lipgloss that’s just as good as her $20 lip gloss so it’s nyx for the win lol
Sorry, “Renaissance” sucks!!
In my humble opinion..
Jay has always shown that he has questionable character.. . This wasn’t surprising to me. Thankfully, I can separate the individual from the talent they display..
I don’t really listen to a lot of new music or purchase it
I thought I was the only one who felt nothing from the Renaissance album. Every song was a no for me.
Is it any wonder Dr Dre’s daughter was doing Door Dash and living out her car.
@@0Lu.Lu0 Yess! Mahogany Soul is a classic album. Even the "Made in America" concert leaves a bad taste. Like I know most of the performers are great (I'm from Philly fyi) but his name attached to it just ugggh, I can't
I love how Jay z is talking about Marcy Projects but is he exposing what’s going on in the projects... how’s there literally toxins in the water. That’s the tea he would never talk about. Jay-Z has mess so many people up that he is trying to redeem himself.
You have free will..he didn't make anyone do anything..if your gullible enough to think a rich black celebrity is smart and cares for you...your wrong
@@SaBaby93 what are you saying ??? Where did you read that I said that
@@bebecap1970 I'm saying i don't like when people blame celebrities for certain things...we have free will to follow or just pray to the lord
I stopped listening or trusting Jay z when he said “my presence is the charity/gift” in response to him giving back to the community.
Jay Z thinks he playing chess when he is really playing checkers.
He will never be “ytman rich”. WTF would they let him into their room and be their competition, the ones who considered it a threat for Africans in America to be able to READ.
Why doesn't Beyoncé think it's weird that her husband is trying to morph into another man name Basquiat.
Not him and his Basquiat wig! 😩😂
😂😂😂 He wants to be Basquiat so bad it’s annoying.
I was waiting on this!!
Not the Basquiat wig😂😂
Whenever Jayz says “we” he means I.
Beyoncé and Jay Z is the black bourgeoisie
"I'm not black, I'm OJ - okay" Did he write his own bars or is he ....? 🤔
I never listened to the 4:44 album because I already had the tea on what kind of condescending message would characterize it, and I already did not like Jay-Z: I’ve never forgiven him for betraying Roc La Familia. I did hear that little part of the OJ song, and I never did understand what he means or hat most people take him to mean when he says “Okay”.
The gaslight finesser lol how does him becoming a billionaire benefit for me????? I always knew something wasn’t right with his ass
Jay-Z who is "They" and "Us" you have more in common with the Bootlegger Kennedy, then the average Brother/Sister out here trying to survive.
He should’ve just done like his wife and been quiet. Because they are both one and the same. ivy park is sweatshop made and she’s done the cosplay too. You can have a successful company where those who do the labor are paid and treated humanely.
I definitely got a lot of NOs before I got a yes when I was looking for a lender to get my home and my profile was similar to many of my white counterparts
Wow brother! Thanks for that tea. Now more than ever people are realizing the issue is that they install middlemen and barriers to access what are actually basic human rights, and can move the goalposts and criteria anytime they want and therein lies the problem.
He said," cos playing in his Basquiat wig" I'm DONE! 🤣🤣
"He talks slow and moves his hands". The accuracy!
I never in my life looked up to him nor his wife.. or anyone like them..sorry not sorry!!!
Jayz is not here to save us just to sell us
I really enjoy you channel and points that you be making. Thanks for the content. Stay safe!!
Add parts of Baltimore to the clean water issue. There is a boil advisory in effect due to e-coli in the water. Can we get a break?
The idea of eat the rich is well beyond back in History. Folks don't remember Marie Antionette? And it goes back further than that. The unique experience and change now that rich people like Jay-Z and them have to deal with is technology...they can't just run around saying foolishness...cause people are able to see critique and fleece them in real time. And people talk a whole lot in social media circles....but however...there are those that are desperate and will do more than talking.
I was waiting for your thoughts because I know you love B. You expressed exactly what I was thinking.
Justin when u said…”Jay-Z and his Basquiat WIG” 💀💀💀 that took me out bc I swear I thought it was just me!!! I LUV YOU FRIEND!💚🤣🤣 The WIG IS TIRED 🥱 I’m over it..All Jay -Z talk about is how he pay his bills, and His fans go crazy! I love B..but to keep it 💯 I been peeped what you’re talking about! Still LOVE 💜🐝 Renaissance IS EVERYTHING TO ME. 🌈
Just keep them laughing they'll keep subscribing
capitalism
Thank you!! Feels good to hear a voice that makes sense in todays world
Jay Z showed black people who he is numerous times. Having Brooklyn townhome owners sell their homes in order to support his minuscule stake in the Barclay's Center. Encouraging boycott of Superbowl until he solidified his position .
Great point. Minuscule stake. 😳
Shooting his own brother for a chain; Betraying his fellow Black CEO’s, the entire roster of Roc LaFamilia, and the Black families the staff was feeding because “I want to look like a businessman…”-yeah he has shown us that there is such a thing as a ytsprmcst in Black skin.
Beyoncé lost a ticket sale when I heard that 🤷🏾♀️
You are the only person I've seen speak on Jackson,MS.👏👏👏
I see why you are call King of Reads you did dat in this commentary luv it💯💯💯💯

‘You and your basquiat wig’
Omg not the basquiat wig & moves his hands & talks slow 🤣🤣🤣🤣 but In all seriousness this was an EXCELLENT READ! Bravoo Keep it up & as someone whose followed you for awhile now I’m happy to see that your bills are no longer worrisome 👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾Yes white people are amazed & in awe of him but Black America is fed up & doesn’t really see how they even as a couple are protecting us when hes making these dangerous comments. You were honest & insightful with good intentions & not hatred. Its simply the truth💯 We have to remember at the end of the day celebrities benefit from capitalism & only a few really care about serious things like the environment as you mentioned with the jets (like Jane Fonda, George Clooney, etc.) We need more reads like this! ❤️
Vote or Die means vote or it can get worse. There are people who want you to be apathetic so they can further oppress you.
💯 Great video!!! I'm glad to see our cultural commentators in the RUclips community discussing capitalism in this way. Let's go. ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
Let's start a clean water campaign. How do we set this up, and what will it look like? Donate gallons and bottles of water? Transport the water there.
Jay-Z is a rapper. I don’t understand why ppl listen to him about anything else other than rap.
There’s only one person I hear say “eat the rich” consistently… purrrr
his observations on society are really unintelligible. One thing I never understand about these billionaires is that they don't think to invest into getting an education so they can develop their critical thinking skills.
This was a word 💯
“Basquiat” WIG 😂🤣🤣 ended on a real shady note
That’s definitely not what I got from it , from what i gathered is he was saying it wasn’t so much emphasis on a wealthy person being a capitalist until black ppl started becoming wealthy . And that’s true .
Thank you for talking about the hospital in Atlanta closing. It's going to get REAL with Grady being the only level 1 trauma center in the area. On top of Covid, we're now getting into cold and flu season. We needs more healthcare workers and hospitals. Not less.
The only evolution in hip hop is they're making more trash music, buying mansions and wearing the best designer YET the regular folk still supporting them while broke, busted and disgusted!
I’ve had my bills on autopay to for a long time but still I’m not where I should be if you look at what I make a year. 🤷🏾♀️idk
You put this in such a perfect way. We need to make the black celebs importance in the black community as low as their financial efforts in the black community. A lot of us look up to them as if EVERYTHING they say is gold, all the while over looking how much they don’t care about our struggles.
@Harper me too hunny. I see them as a joke now
@@TamiLeigh Right it's almost like a slap in the face but hey at least when the "community" does get it together we can call BS if the try to take any credit.
I think when rap became hip hop the rooted politics were slowly erased and replaced by the corporate gospel. I watched the genre change along with our communities. Rap to hip hop, gentrification of hoods.
Hip Hop did start getting more materialistic causing more consumerism from the followers of hip hop.
Just because Jayz is a billionaire doesn’t mean he’s a spokesperson for black issues or supper intelligent. He just knew how to get over on blacks!
LMAOOOOOO He ended it with " Jay-Z and his Basquiat wig can go away from us" I just hollered in a military installation 😂
i’ve been waiting for this
Jay-Z and Beyonce have been problematic for a long time. People like their music and deify them, so they ignore the non-sense that falls out of their mouth. This was complete and utter non-sense.
So many gems dropped in this video. Keep it up 👑
