I was worried that they were building up the final battle in Asgard too much, and that it would be impossible to meet expectations. But that finale was absolutely INSANE. Everything from carving a path to the Asgardian wall to the final show down with Thor and Odin was a master class is directing, acting and writing. The score was also phenomenal.
I like your more defensive play style. It’s not like a lot of other high-level players, where they use aggressive play and overwhelming combos. Your style is simple, effective, patient, and ultimately triumphant. Awesome stuff!
Something I didn't notice until just now: When Kratos hits Thor with the axe, it doesn't flash blue. It flashes *green*, the traditional color of poison. As in the Eitr poison it got in the previous game. Really incredible attention to detail here.
@Sigismund Augustus I mean to be fair I respect how ONGBAL and SmvR are really good but it’s definitely more skillfull to fight a boss without deleting their health bar like it’s easy mode in 2 seconds
Thor finally realizing what he did and wanting to be better, and then he was killed, that was so heart touching. Also, you could've made a bigger impact of you used the spear all along..
When you think about it, Thor is basically what would've happened of Kratos if he didn't stand up for himself like he did back in Greek saga. Zeus was as abusive as Odin, except that Zeus was more open about it. While Odin was your average narcissist who firstly portrays himself as "the good guy", then "lovebombs" his victims by gifting them nice things (like he did to Atreus with bedroom, clothes and magical flying sword), covers up his manipulation with smiles, nice words and "it's all for our greater good" excuse, throwing his victims under the bus for his own benefit (Mimir, Freya, Tyr), having "flying monkeys" (Heimdall, Gna, Hrist and Mist, his pet/slave ravens and temporarily Thrud) to do his dirty work, having meltdowns when something isn't going his own way and shifting the blame onto anyone who confronts him for his BS.

Tbh, these bosses needed to be more relentless in GMGOW difficulty. FOr some reason normal mobs were more prone to pressuring the player than the main bosses. Wish they copied Elden Ring bosses for the hardest difficulty
Mobs have always been harder than the bosses in gmgow(even in the first game). Tbh Elden ring difficulty is based on your build. With things like mimic tear, magic, summons, etc you can make most boss fights pretty easy for yourself. Even gmgow difficulty is is based on your level, armor, runic attacks, summons, etc. I’ve seen many videos of people playing on gmgow against bosses with green health bars vs whenever I fought them they were dark orange😅
@@arnesh- I wasnt talking about difficulty in the form of stats. Thats just sponginess. Was talking about mechanical side, the variation in attack patterns like how elden ring bosses can sometimes delay attacks just to throw you off. Mixing up attack paterns, abit of randomness and occasional relentless pursuit. Stuff like that. In god war Bjorn? the bear Atreus can sometimes be relentless. Which is something Odin should have done atleast in his second phase just to show is desperation and determination to destroy you. Would also add to the feeling of spectacle that that fight is missing imo. Just my two cents anyway. (gow trying to look and play like darksouls made people start judging it on said standard. 6:13 that hit reminds me a lot of the first smack Kratos ever got from Baldur. To think of it, this all started in front of Kratos’ home, and it ends in front of Odins.
I sympathize with Odin. He gave his eye for knowledge yet he couldn’t get the answer as to where he would go when he dies. On top of the many awesome themes of this game, a God having an existential crisis is EPIC for sure
After watching this fight I realize that Kratos does not have any of his Greek godly or magical powers other than his innate spartan rage and his own strength he’s fighting at a big disadvantage here and he’s winning, Thor still had his magical powers of being a god of thunder Odin still has his magical powers and they’re losing this. This tells me that the Greek gods of Greece more specifically the pantheon of Olympus were extremely powerful in their own right and at the time Kratos killed all of them no, except maybe not Aphrodite. But Kratos, he’s here in the lands of the Norse killing the gods there with little to no powers of his own and he’s winning. If this is him fighting against the Norse gods while extremely diminished with none of his Olympian gear Or abilities… I wonder how much of a pushover the -Nose- Norse Gods would be if he was fighting them at his peak of power?
Mimir himself asked if it is true that Greek Gods are so powerful that they (don´t remember what). So lorewise, greek gods are much stronger than Norse ones
Oh, but a lot of people are always just pointing at the fact that Cory said Kratos is stronger in these games, ignoring the fact that his base self could and does seem to be stronger, but that doesn't in any way prevent him to be weaker than his past self overall when taking into account all of the Greek powers/artifacts he lost. He obviously retained and honed some of his godly abilities that stayed, but a big thing of the past games was the magic that a ton of the gods and titans gave him and the relics he collected. It's even said in one dialogue in this game some magic is somehow linked to the place it originates from, so either by the destruction of Greece or simply by getting out of there, he forsake a great deal of abilities. When it comes to equipment, though, he could've brought more with him, but he was trying to get away from the past and only kept what was literally chasing him (the blades) lol. The golden fleece, for exemple, would basically function as an indestructible shield that instead of simply giving you the opportunity to parry stuff, would magically redirect the attack's power into the attacker -- it'd be a funny surprise for Thor or Odin to put their all in a blow and just get it reflected to their face lol. Another cool one would be the wings of Icarus, which would give him much more mobility (not that he's mostly restricted by plot conveniences and could just pretty much jump or tear into anywhere he wanted, but it is what it is haha).
@@emmanuel1337 as he’s older physically he’s stronger but he lost some versatility being that magical gear. And his divinity died with Olympus and here he is fighting and killing the gods of the Norse in their realm of power. He is a de-powered god of war and he is killing the Norse gods in their own lands. Historically there was indeed a god called Cratos except he was spelled with a C and was a god of strength. Because his divinity and sphere of influence died in Greece he is a god with no followers no worshipers and no power base to grow his power, all he has is what he is and that by itself is still pretty powerful. I’m not quite certain of it but my theory is that the Gods of the God of War series grows in strength and power the more their worshiped and prayed to.
@@ryankaiser2702 I have heard that hypothesis of the gods in GoW being powered by the mortal's worship before and this is something that does happen in other stories (Clash/Wrath of the Titans, for example), but I don't see any evidence of it in the GoW universe -- in fact, we see counter-evidence. It's never mentioned that so many humans being caught in the crossfire of Kratos' vengeance weakened the gods nor do we can reliably infer such an effect, and that absolutely should've been the case if it was true (unless the power just stays with the gods, but I still think it's very far-fetched). Moreover, it'd be too important and impactful of an aspect of the universe to not mention at all or at the very least strongly hint in some way -- it's not something they'd really leave vague while outright explaining so much other stuff clearly. A lot of people also talk about the idea that they necessarily grow stronger with age pretty much indefinitely, but that's something that seems to just be traced back to the gods as seen in Marvel comics, which is a very particular adaptation that doesn't really carry out to everywhere and fans are probably just conflating stuff in their minds.
If kratos had his youth, powers, and gear from the previous games... make no mistake, he would ABSOLUTELY WRECK ASGARD, zeus would even destroy them himself without much, and kratos IS stronger than him, so the power difference would be absolutely huge. (Not to mention, norse gods DO NOT regenerate)

You know, when you really think about how powerful Kratos had to be in order to kill the entire main pantheon of Greek gods... It's almost unbelievable, like actually think about... Kratos killed some of the most powerful beings in the known Universe, most of them, being with absolute ease. Thankfully, he has become a calm and reasonable person in the newer games.
Oh, certainly. Kratos would've washed the entire Norse pantheon had they messed with him BEFORE Faye made him calmer, and more reasonable. Baldur got lucky. Had he messed with Kratos sooner... oh, boy...
And from a certain conversation Kratos and Mimir had, it might be canonical that Kratos has fought against the many characters in the various crossover games he was in. Dude has been around the bend. I'd like to think Kratos could easily cut loose and fold a lot of his foes but really holds back, he seems like he'd rather die than become the ruthless beast he once was. Unless you threaten his son or new family, best bet your ass all bets are off.
Yooo did y'all notice this is the same mask from the movie the mask!? If y'all remember that mask from that movie was a wooden mask with ties to the Norse god "Loki " they even make that reference in the movie and if you look at this completed mask it Is the exact same thing! WOW what an Easter egg
i like how the whole fight thor is claiming he doesn't want too hear what kratos has to say but instantly agrees with them when he actually hear kratos out
When you have a thunder-infused hammer which could knock down a skyscraper of a being with a single hit in one hand and you're drunk off of rage, diplomacy isn't your first choice. But when he was forced to consider what Kratos had to say after fully expecting him to kill him while he was down, but didn't, he could see more clearly.
Odin was an old man who feared the unknown and did and say anything and everything that involved getting answers and his fear consumed him with all of his wrongs catching up to him but unlike Zeus who fear grew due to negative influence Odin choose his path and refused to take responsibility for any acts he did say he had no choice.
When Thor refered to the old Kratos he's talking about the Kratos that was fighting his way out of Hades' pit and killed his way all the way up to Mount Olympus. He's talking about the Kratos that killed his own brother, his own grandfather and his own father. He's talking about the Kratos that rescued a girl just to have her hold up a heavy wheel that she got crushed by. He's talking about savage Kratos. Thor, we all miss that Kratos.
Poor Thor. He finally makes a life-changing decision to become a better person. If only he made that decision before that fight with Kratos, so he would have enough vitality in him to survive the sudden betrayal from his father.
Am I the only one noticing something here, between Odins obsession with a green crack showing what happens to a god after death, and Athena in God of War 3 being the only resurrected god of the pantheon, in a green aurora, and how her coming back to life changed Athenas attitude and her kindness in to pure selfishness?....am I the ONLY one noticing something going on behind the scenes of the franchise here involving a gods cycle life and death and an obsession with it when they see it and know it?....something evil in there is doing something, Athenas character change after her death and odins obsession with it is kind of proof of that don't you think?
Bro the fight would end in 1 second. King Arthur is a regular human with a magic sword. Kratos is a f*cking god being able to hold his own against cronos who is a titan and the titans overthrew the primordials who are extremely powerful and op being able to create a universe just because of their fight and kratos killed cronos without much difficulty.

A cool theory is that in the last game, Jormungandr spat out the Leviathan Axe, poisoning it in the process. In the myth of Ragnarök, Thor dies to Jormie’s poison. His wound from the axe doesn’t heal. Could he have been inadvertently killed, or at least weakened, slowly by it? PS- 4:39 Thor’s channeling Will Smith! 😂
This is so cool! I really like the Odin Boss fight with Kratos Atreus and Freya teaming up with each other to put a stop to Odin's madness too. That's incredible! Kratos Atreus and Freya have come so far together and their relationship has grown so strong that they've reached the point where they will do anything to look out for each other and protect each other from harm too!💙❤💖
Perhaps they could do it in a movie reboot if the live action god of war becomes a huge success. at least I hope they not altar it like atreus as Loki Interesting but NOO! I want to Loki versus Kratos
I was honestly hoping for a mission before endgame where you get to play as Thor when ragnarok begins and it shows his side of what was going on. You would end by fighting jormungandr as a boss fight and at the end of the fight they would show how Thor managed to hit him and send him back in time. I felt like they could have done more with that
It JUST occurred to me that in the painting in Angrboda’s treehouse showing Kratos’s death, there was a man with a hammer, presumably being the one who helped kill him. That person is no longer Thor, it’s Sindri! (Then again, I wonder if the prophecy will still come true in a later game. Perhaps that image of Kratos dying is out of chronological order, and the person with the hammer there is someone we’ve never met)…
You can see knowing everything cost Odin his mind and believe to prophecy still his better choicing, a smart Creasy like Odin in methodology, great game 👍

I thought it lacked oomph personally. Needed some big "swathes of armies clashing" if you get me
the tutorial fight against thor is better than the final one tbh thats my big let down of this game, everything else is beutiful
it was mediocre at best
nah
I like your more defensive play style. It’s not like a lot of other high-level players, where they use aggressive play and overwhelming combos. Your style is simple, effective, patient, and ultimately triumphant. Awesome stuff!
I thought it was kind've boring honestly. He just used the same move set over and over and over again with only one weapon.
@@GodOfDestructionVegeta27 it ain't flashy, but it works

He didn’t even use runic attacks often, which are easy dps to fit his play style and range, that’s what had me miffed

its sad to see how much Odin had broken down Thor, by the final fight with Thor he is no more then a broken man who wants Kratos to kill him
Something I didn't notice until just now: When Kratos hits Thor with the axe, it doesn't flash blue. It flashes *green*, the traditional color of poison. As in the Eitr poison it got in the previous game. Really incredible attention to detail here.
ONGBAL and SmvR beat bosses with pressure and OP attacks. And then there is you, using patience and simple attacks. Good video
I mean SmvR is amazing
Boring af
@Sigismund Augustus Not at all
@Sigismund Augustus I mean to be fair I respect how ONGBAL and SmvR are really good but it’s definitely more skillfull to fight a boss without deleting their health bar like it’s easy mode in 2 seconds

Thor finally realizing what he did and wanting to be better, and then he was killed, that was so heart touching.

Just as heart-touching as Gungnir was to Thor

When you think about it, Thor is basically what would've happened of Kratos if he didn't stand up for himself like he did back in Greek saga.
Zeus was as abusive as Odin, except that Zeus was more open about it. While Odin was your average narcissist who firstly portrays himself as "the good guy", then "lovebombs" his victims by gifting them nice things (like he did to Atreus with bedroom, clothes and magical flying sword), covers up his manipulation with smiles, nice words and "it's all for our greater good" excuse, throwing his victims under the bus for his own benefit (Mimir, Freya, Tyr), having "flying monkeys" (Heimdall, Gna, Hrist and Mist, his pet/slave ravens and temporarily Thrud) to do his dirty work, having meltdowns when something isn't going his own way and shifting the blame onto anyone who confronts him for his BS.
but wasn't zeus like that only after he and the other Greek gods were consumed by the fear of Pandora's box?
Love your analysis of Odin. Especially shifting the blame part
@@czahnnunh2263 Zeus was always a dick
@@czahnnunh2263 Nah even before the whole pandora's box thing Zeus was still a jerk having illicit relations with many men and women and punishing people (Hephaestus for eg.) as he willed. This is indeed a different jormungandr
Adding onto that, atreus, who the prophecy calls loki, put the giants soul into jormungandr with the help of angrboda
In norse mythology, loki and angrboda where the parents of jormungandr

True, but I do wish we had thor there to help beat Odin up, fuck that would of been poetic justice think thor would get his own back for all the beatings odin gave him

Brok would be proud 🥲
I love how Atreus used his 🏹 as a melee weapon! Grapple Odin by the neck w/ the bowstring & smashed him into the ground!
4:08 Awww Thor wants to give Kratos a hug. How nice of him.
Imagine if Thor didn't die right there. Like, be on the verge of death with Thrud thinking he died or not die until the final team up against Odin where he dies as a final act of defiance. Just a thought
I was waiting for him to smack Odin with Mjolnir and rebel against his dad, but my heart sank when I heard the thud from him dropping it because I knew what was coming… 😕
Thor + Kratos would have been an OP combo.
Yet clearly they want us to remember that its just god of war not a souls game)
@@alispeed5095 don't understand why you see gow trying to copy dark soul gameplay mechanic. I don't even see any resemblance in it. 6:13 that hit reminds me a lot of the first smack Kratos ever got from Baldur.
To think of it, this all started in front of Kratos’ home, and it ends in front of Odins.
Baldur: Ironic isn't it?
6:14 you can hear the “Old Kratos” grunt when he throws Thor
Good ear!
As one hardcore gamer to another, you're fucking AWESOME.
I sympathize with Odin. He gave his eye for knowledge yet he couldn’t get the answer as to where he would go when he dies. On top of the many awesome themes of this game, a God having an existential crisis is EPIC for sure
Love how Odin spams 3 to 4 moves, and kratos has a whole arsenal of moves
Bro only swinging that axe
I love how clean that 1-2 kick was from Atreus & Freya @ 23:38
Kratos, Freya, Loki: We should spare Odin
Sindri: You must be out your GOD DAMN MIND

Thor was such a broken yet relatable to some he was loved by others but was blind because he wanted love from someone who just used him, not only was he manipulated he lost his family and we he finally stood up for himself the one who manipulated him threw him away
Had he messed with Kratos sooner... oh, boy...

Freya speaking to Odin is like Baldur speaking to her in the first game.
I was wondering when someone would notice this.
“But now I realize; I don’t need you to understand anything.”
Also how Freya, Atreus and Kratos uses the same combo Kratos and Atreus against Baldur.
i like how the whole fight thor is claiming he doesn't want too hear what kratos has to say but instantly agrees with them when he actually hear kratos out
When you have a thunder-infused hammer which could knock down a skyscraper of a being with a single hit in one hand and you're drunk off of rage, diplomacy isn't your first choice. But when he was forced to consider what Kratos had to say after fully expecting him to kill him while he was down, but didn't, he could see more clearly.

My mans pulled out the receipts in the end to show he was playing on GMGOW
The fact that he used no runics made this even better
He did use the light runic on the spear in Odin phase 2 but other than that I didn't notice

How incredibly disappointing we can’t even use Mjolnir
Perhaps they could do it in a movie reboot if the live action god of war becomes a huge success. at least I hope they not altar it like atreus as Loki Interesting but NOO! I want to Loki versus Kratos
Lol mjonir is literally another version of the leviathan axe with lightning instead of ice. Its good they went with the spear.
I was honestly hoping for a mission before endgame where you get to play as Thor when ragnarok begins and it shows his side of what was going on. You would end by fighting jormungandr as a boss fight and at the end of the fight they would show how Thor managed to hit him and send him back in time. I felt like they could have done more with that
I think kratos has redeemed himself and he should be worthy of Thor’s hammer
I agree. I was so eager to try and claim mjolnir post-game, but we can’t :(
Very bummed we cant choose to use it
It JUST occurred to me that in the painting in Angrboda’s treehouse showing Kratos’s death, there was a man with a hammer, presumably being the one who helped kill him.
