  • Bought myself a Harbor Freight 12V transfer pump to help make the water in my rain barrels more useful. I can power my pressure washer, water the grass, or just quickly dump the water into the street with upcoming rain storms.

Seemed like the water pressure was pretty good. Good video. Thank you.

There is no difference from my suburban city water pressure or the rain barrel and this pump.

They might not have thought about using it this way so didn’t think to put in an adapter. Would probably be good for them to include a package of adapters for different applications though.

I think it is intended as a water transfer pump from like a pond/stream. For that purpose it comes with what you need. Doesn't hurt to have an extra line saying what fittings it comes with.

If it can be used to water the lawn with a water hose I am sure it will be fine for what I need, I have about a hundred foot by fifty foot patch of stickers/sand burrs that come up every summer on 2 lots I have that does not have a source of water, therefore I cannot use a preemergent and then water it into the soil to prevent the stickers from growing and cannot control them by mowing, if I miss a week of mowing I go and find stickers. I was thinking of putting a water tank on my utility trailer with a ball valve to open and close it at the bottom out to a water hose, hook it to a pump like this, and go out with a short hose with an adjustable nozzle on the end, and power it with a car/riding mower battery. I am hoping I can put out the preemergent and then use this pump/watering set up to water the grass to water in the preemergent and keep the stickers from even growing starting next summer. Do you think this will work? If it is even half as powerful as a standard outdoor water faucet and hose at a home I think it will work great. Thank you for the video.

I'd say this will fit that need, but if I was giving actual advice my engineering hat would have to come back on (I used to spec pumps/piping systems for a living). If you have an easy to move trailer that can house the tank and battery for this pump you'll be fine. I have a 12V 9AH battery that is mounted with the pump and just carry it out as needed. That battery will stop the pump after about 45-60 min of continuous use. I plan the pump to work at 4.5 GPM, so I can't use it for more than 40 min to not run the pump dry.

Can you please help explain how you added the button

The switch and battery clips came with the pump. It allows you you connect to a battery without automatically starting the pump.

@bryanvega3903 I don’t have a part number but if you put this into google it’s the first link that pops up: “harbor freight 12v pump”
