Hi Kimberly! I am amazed that you seem to like the older Louis bags and the same ones I like. I just purchased a like new Galliera GM. I have had 2 of these and you know about the black that comes off the rings onto the leather? I had Louis people send one of them to repair to have the rings replaced but it really didn’t help much. Sold them both years ago. Bought another and I already put my items in it, but do you have any suggestions to help the black not getting on the leather? Would appreciate any info. Thanks
Hiya! Yes, the quality and the canvas are unmatched in the vintage bags! I have a video short of a Galliera GM I purchased but sent it back. I cleaned the bag as soon as I unboxed it and those black marks would not budge. I believe I saw a video after I sent the bag back of a ring protector around the gold circle that prevented the gold from rubbing on the vachetta. But from the cleaning I’d done on the bag before sending back, the marks did not improve. If I had kept it, I most likely would have gotten the vachetta replaced.
Thanks for your reply. I knew this was a problem with the Galliera when I bought it. Paid a lot because it literally is almost new. I am so particular about my bags, but you cannot really enjoy them when you obsess over every little mark. Maybe I should just use it and live with the result. I am not young, and I am sure the bag will outlast me anyway. Thanks so much for your advice.
