This is actually a high quality picaxe head, much better than the ones at homedepot here in the USA. It is forged from high quality steel. A little strain hardening and it would be indestructible. Compared to cast pickaxes this one is a lot better quality.
Imagine the world power this country could become if its factories automated? The living force via the number of inhabitants coupled with modernity... unrepeatable
The issiue with pickaxes arent that they get dirty or needs to be "refurbished". The issiue is that they get worn down. You use them untill the metal have been worn down to nothing. And given the forces they have to whitstand, there are really nothing you can do to "fix" them, that would not have had been a waste of time and money. It's quite simply cheaper to just replace it. What i'm a bit suprised about given I'm a blacksmith. Is that they dident harden or temper the pickaxes. To me that seams like these ones eiter they are only meant for soil or really soft stone like sandstone or chale. Or it's not nearly as "high" quality as they like to claim it is. Non the less. it's fun to see how some one ellse make these things.
They are putting enormous stress on the tiny chain lifting the big stuff, accident waiting to happen, they work so bloody hard with the crap equipment, and the conditions they are subjected to, appalling for their health.🇦🇺
I think everyone is missing a key point here.... look at their hair, skin but especially their beards.. so clean and precise yet just moving scrap.. hmmm suss
Is there a demand for that many picks? There must be enough steel chain for hundreds of thousands. I guess that manual labor still rules in that part of the world. Maybe these are gifts for young men entering the labor force.

The issiue isn't on the imigrants hands. But rather the employers whom understand these people are desperate and are willing to do the job for far less cash and under far worse conditions than western natives are. Consider it blaming a slave for not toppeling the master whom holds a gun ageinst their head and telling them to work. These people werry often come from horrible conditions in hope to get a better life, and unfortunatly that causes frictions with the natives where they go. As the natives often are let go to be able to employ far cheaper imigrants workforses instead. I my selfe are unemployed for these same reasons. My employer in sweden realized he could squeeze 2 imigrants in on my salary. and thusly did not extend my employment when the time came for it. Also dosen't help when the goverment give out huge grants to employers whom take in massive amounts of imigrants. The imigrants are just as mutch a victim in all of this as we are.
@@mr-x7689 the thing is, "far less cash" and "far worse conditions" in the US is still way better than what they will get back in their homelands. Hence why they'll do anything to work. It's the employers that earn billions from deliberately paying less wages and skimping on safety regulations, just so their CEOs and shareholders can buy another yacht.
I don't think this chain deteriorates or fatigues . why not clean it up and sell it as chain ... Probably the ship the chain was on was scrapped because to old and falling apart , but the chain is still good
WTF are they spending their time & energy on? Raw aluminum (or “al-you-lew-nee-mee-uhm”, depending on your side of ‘the pond’) is supposed to be almost near-infinitely reusable!
real craftsmanship here but: please stop that safety OSHA crap. Most of these people work 12 hours a day (apart from 5x a day prayer). they are not amateurs who would hit their thumb with a hammer every second blow. OSHA is only there for the insurance companies not for your safety.

can't even imagine doing this hard work whole day , coming back home opening refrigerator ,looking for a beer and realizing that alcohol is illegal in my country.
Beer is still legal in Pakistan, but only for Christians, and only 100 bottles a month. However, enforcement is very lax. A lot of people there still consume alcoholic drinks.
The funny thing is the making of the ankers requires no human intervention apart from slinging on to the truck. I admire the creativity of the West to exploit these plebeians.

Just because other people have it worse doesn't mean you're not allowed to have your own problems...
Agreed. Here in America, the “poor” have no idea what real poverty looks like and no government handouts to keep you fed. You work or you die.
Right? Whenever somebody is like "we need to bring back manufacturing jobs" i think .......do we really?
This is joy nothing hard 😀
Most important step: packing the finished pickaxe into a protective plastic bag.
Without plastic there is no quality.
It’s like the year 1069 meets the year 1985…. They should forge some steel toed sandals and start a retail outlet.
Nice. Turning an old rusted anchor chain into pick axes. And eventually that pick axe becomes something else.
If they just heat treated these, even just a quech on the tips, these would be better quality than most junk you get today
Right ❤
No face protection, no hand protection, no feet protection, and hard labor all day long. My heart really goes out to these workers ❤
osha would have a Ball
All for 4 dollars a day
They're just happy to have a job.

Gotta love the safety boots!!
Hammer forged ,not drop forged or poured . Bet that pickaxe lasts for years
Like the forges of Isengard!
Good work
There the hardest working men
Love how he has welding goggles but couldn’t even bother to put them on for the camera!
amazing metal wor. unbelievable to watch. credits to the workers. prey for at least basic safety gear like boots goggles and ear defenders

war, corruption, cultural impediments. brazil had it even better than them, but jusk look at it.
