Sheldon's character is usually pretty irritating but this time he was actually in the right. Penny is their friend and a guest in their apartment often but she pretty much acts like she owns the place and sponges off of them quite a bit. Out of the many demands Sheldon has, keeping her hands of his food and bum out of his spot aren't that big an ask.
Well you have to understand that Sheldon shows a lot of signs of having Asperger's (a type of autism). Him being rude or not understanding some human emotions and idiosyncrasies is not him trying to do that on purpose; he really has no idea.

Sheldon does care about the feelings of his friends. He just doesn't know how to read them or how to appropriately react to their feelings. We often see him making them tea when he figures they are upset.
I do personally find it funny. They are just a bunch of nerds that are so desperate to see naked chicks that they’d go through illegal means just to see some boobs. It’s funny to see the complicated lengths they go through to see naked women when they could just so easily brows the web.
Sheldon was right about the food but the original strike over sending a meme by email is hardly a complaint that should warrant such a reaction. So the system itself is flawed because Penny didn't know she had already violated it in the first instance. Such a good point about Howard not being “technically harmless” because while he doesn’t physically touch anyone he still causes harm to women constantly and gets away with it. You see the argument all the time, even in these comments, that it’s ok bc he’s “harmless” but stalking someone, sexually harassing them, invading their privacy, making them fear for their safety. These all cause harm even if no physical contact occurs. Nobody else gets to decide whether or not the perpetrator is “harmless” in any instance where the victims are physically, verbally, or psychologically harmed.
Regarding the Howard/Raj storyline, I think there's this idea that characters being awful in tv shows can't be funny. Yes, if someone I knew irl was doing this, I would not want anything to do with these people. But if the dialogue is funny and you understand this is just for comedy sake and creepiness of this nature should not be tolerated irl, I can let it go. This is definitely the worst thing the characters have done throughout the whole show though. This plot is definitely a product of its time though. No way would we see anything like this nowadays (and I'm definitely not complaining about that). Ik people have mentioned a few times already that Howard changes but his character development starts this season and he gets a little less creepy but it's only really until season 4-5 that he's no longer a creep In terms of the Sheldon/Penny storyline, it's fine that Sheldon doesn't want his food being taken or touched. But Sheldon's whole strike system and banishing Penny is obviously ridiculous. Penny also apologised when it happened but then after being banished refused to apologise.
Do shows like NCIS or Criminal Minds and all the other crime based shows that have all sorts of unspeakable crimes in the show worry that people will go out and murder others because of what they put on a TV show? Relax people, the Big Bang Theory is harmless compared to shows based on murderers and serial killers!!
If you think about it, Sheldon's warning to Penny "With great power comes great responsibility" could also apply to Howard and Raj - with their "great power" being the ability to use their intellect and resources to locate a house full of models.
