I always thought this was a good episode in the right direction for Penny. She stops being so self-centered in the relationship and actually starts putting the effort in and reciprocating. That's what makes her realize that the relationship actually isn't "boring".
And it makes sense - Penny is so pretty and the guys she's used to dating are so shallow that she never had to really try before. And Leonard in particular is such a people-pleaser who has been crushing on her to some degree since they met, so that doesn't help. But like that early episode where the other hot girl moved in and manipulated the guys into doing things for her, like they do for Penny, Penny has some nice introspection here and realizes she didn't want be that person anymore. I always like when the show points out Penny may be the "normal" one, the audience proxy, but she has some issues too.
@@kateorgera5907 you guys both make some great points and the real truth is for someone like Penny, who has not had a good dating history with a lot of guys who may have been great on the outside, but severely lacking on the inside - and I’m not just talking about brains here - (Zach being an exception here because he’s just a sweet happy Himbo) but those were guys who were after her because of her looks and sex… really not much else and that’s why all of those relationships would end up falling apart. I mean if we’re gonna go ahead and get really crass about it… She was essentially just a bed warmer and candy to them the same way they are for her once she stop putting her heart out there as much. Leonard was definitely wild by her looks, but what made the guy fall for her was getting to know her overtime and seeing just how cool and sweet and fun of a person she can be even with her flaws. Besides, how exactly are you supposed to know that you have a good thing going if you’ve never had it in the first place? If you don’t even know what it looks like? For someone who’s used to “excitement” being in the form of expected anxiety and nervous anticipation that comes from waiting for the shit to hit in fan in a relationship, then yeah I think it would be pretty easy to confuse healthy WIP and stable with “boring”. 😅
"Salt and Pepper isn't romantic" They are if you watched Blue's Clues as a child - Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper were a married couple who later had a child named Paprika. Though I don't think Amy or Sheldon were in the right age range for that. I am a little surprised they didn't go with the obvious choice of Pierre and Marie Curie, but rule of funny applies. Also, man, Amy's family has a lot of weird tragedies, between the cousin ground up in the pepper factory and the entire bridal party that died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
I don't think the writers ignored Penny's "boredom" with their relationship. They touched it in the very next episode when Alex appeared. Penny got jealous of Alex and so Amy told her that her lymbic system is making her realize that if Alex is hitting on Leonard, then he must be desirable. It's like appreciating what you have when you see other people want it too. Then it cut to the apartment, and then Alex came in, saying a lot of people want to work with Leonard. Penny said "Yeah, but a lot of people can't" and then took Leonard to her apartment to have sex with him. I interpreted that as Penny wanting and appreciating Leonard more and realizing that their relationship is not boring at all.
Yeah but that doesn't really solve it if she isn't bored simply out of jealousy. That's not taking initiative when the plot demands your attention. No character based decisions.
I love your tea shirt! I really enjoyed when you were like "wait a minute" and came back with it. Nice transition and very unexpected, but fit perfectly with the moment. Love how you kept repeating "protection" in your review afterwards. I didn't realize how many things with this episode that fits really well at! LOL Usually when I'm rewatching it I'm waiting for my three favorite moments: "What's a hickey?", "I don't sound like", and when they read off Raj's punny names for the party foods. Makes me laugh everytime! Great video!
Wow, I was going to add Buzz Aldrin to my list of people who have made guest appearances on The Big Bang Theory that have since passed away(*)...but he's still alive. (currently 93 years old!) (*) - So far through episode 06.05 my list has Stan Lee, Leonard Nimoy (he didn't appear on the show but he did provide the voice of the Spock action figure) and Stephen Hawking. I know of one or two more upcoming, but...no spoilers.
One of the reasons I'd like a girlfriend is couples costumes. Ones I'd definitely go for are: Aragorn and Arwen Link and Zelda Joker and Harley Quinn Nightwing and Starfire Beast and Belle Mario and Peach Luigi and Daisy Or just Hogwarts robes or Starfleet uniforms
@@MiosPanties Original Series or Next Generation. And we don't HAVE to be characters from the shows. I dress as a Vulcan science officer, but I'm not Spock.
I mean C3PO and R2D2 weren't romantically involved either, but they still qualify as Couple's Costumes. The characters don't need to be a couple, they just need to be an iconic pair. Simon and Garfunkel, Sonny and Cher, Turner and Hooch, etc
She wasn't bored of Leonard. I think what the writters tried to say was Penny thought Leonard was a great guy but too "safe" for him. The constant needingness from Leonard gave Penny the impression despite being great, she doesn't need to be worry about him bc he was always going to be around her no matter what, that separated Leonard from the other guys he used to date. After seeing him with Sheldon's assistant she realized Leonard is a great guy and also, in escense, no different from the other guys he used to date. A real catch who could do good without her, so they are in the same position. Penny's arrogance and disdain for Leonard in that regard has been popping up troughout the whole show, the last episode she started to realize that's bullshit.
What I loved about this episode and really this entire show is that it's not biase. It's nice to see an episode where Sheldon is not the annoying one, it was all Howard this time lol. Also, I always love the bond between the couples (unfortunately except for Raj). Sheldon and Amy was a cute moment, Howard and Bernadette was supportive and heartwarming as always, Leonard and Penny.........I'm not going to get started with them lol. In the comment section in the previous episodes, I already expressed how I feel about them and I promise I'm done💯😂😂
Young Sheldon actually referenced that error - when Meemaw tells Missy Raggedy Ann and Andy are siblings, she says, "I've been playing with those dolls ALL wrong." Apparently, Amy did too XD

4:57 This is one of my all-time favorite Penny moments. It’s one of the first times that she really looked like she admired and loved Leonard.
The Tea-shirt was Brew-tea-full and reaction tea-riffic as always 🥰
Simon Helberg does really good impressions of people.
Howard is telling everyone about the space travel.
Really love the video of Ballz Aldrin? 😂😂

@@Itsant33 i'm not saying it's the best choice for the writers. I'm just saying they didn't ignore it.
I love your "tea shirt"!! And Raj's puns, I mean... "Indian Jones"??? That's all kinds of wholesome. 🤣🤣

It would be really hard for Grim Reaper to do his job, without any teeth.
One of my favourite TBBT episodes!

Aragorn and Arwen
Link and Zelda

Nightwing and Starfire
Beast and Belle

Or you can be stupid like my husband and I and be SpongeBob and patrick 🤣🤣
Which Starfleet uniforms? This is an important question.
@@MiosPanties Original Series or Next Generation. And we don't HAVE to be characters from the shows. I dress as a Vulcan science officer, but I'm not Spock.
Actually Papa Smurf marrying Smurfette would be pretty inappropriate 😂😉
Well... You have valentine's day for love, Halloween is for fun, my husband and I were SpongeBob and patrick 🤣🤣 (stupid Bro love 🤣)
Well, Bernie has another reason to call Howard “daddy”.
02:56 As Dominic Armato said when recording the remaster of Monkey Island 2, "Nnice."
05:32 My mum did more evocative Halloween dishes than that.
10:16 I don't think that's Willy Wonka. I think it's the Mad Hatter from "Alice in Wonderland." (Also a Batman villain from the 1950s.)
Noticed right away on the white board with Amy's Couples suggestions is Blossom and Joey. Which is weird since they were brother and sister.

penny is a big ole five lol
Eric looking hella handsome in that
“ This is my tee” Tee lol 🫶🏻😍
O low techie techie 😂
“A lot of the guys that hang out there are kind of creepy”
So no different from your usual friend group, then.
Raggedy Anne and Andy are not good couples costumes considering they're siblings.
Young Sheldon actually referenced that error - when Meemaw tells Missy Raggedy Ann and Andy are siblings, she says, "I've been playing with those dolls ALL wrong." Apparently, Amy did too XD
It does feel better not wear goggles I bet 😂
oddly his blue face thing would likely be all too real in todays world and it should be played by an actual smurf
Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Android.
Rewatch and stop on the list.
