  • Hi everyone, and welcome back to another vlog! This one is rather fun, as it's the first American tournament I've been back to in three years. So come along as I show you behind-the-scenes of tournament work from an armourer's perspective.

You did a great job of showing just how MUCH work goes into putting on a major US national event....and some of the regionals are not that much smaller!

Unsung heroes of the fencing community. Probably nowhere near as appreciated as they should be by the competitors. But At least they don't have to deal with the trash that referees have to experience.

We get our fair share....like parents who refuse to listen to WHY the mask that just failed the punch test must be taken away.

that is a seriously huge venue.. how many strips ? and how many competitors ? I am jealous as for the australian nationals i think there were only 10 strips (well around that but i could be wrong.. just a rough guesstimate) - i volunteered to help weapons check (first time in over 20 years ) and ended up with a nice sit down job running the live feed camera.... (it was all set up for the finals strip.. and playbacks if needed (they had me on it so when there was no fencing going on i swivelled the camera around and took crowd shots....lol... ruclips.net/video/-VpEhjauu50/видео.html)
    Tim's t shift is awesome...
good to see Sam as well there...
what is the test box Tim is using to test the spools at 7.48? is it just like a simple test box? although it looks a little more complicated than that..... at the last nationals over here they were testing the spools (when they were set up) to check if they were working with some small tool that looked from a distance like just an epee socket - but i didn't check and i didn't see what it was - i shoudl contact them to see what they were using (it was probably some kind of small box tat crossed the wires over as the spools were plugged into the boxes..)

For this one there were 65 pistes and I believe about 2500 competitors, though I could be misremembering that number. Certainly a huge event! As for the test boxes, lol yes reach out to them directly, everyone brings their own :)
