Excellently read, the narrator's character, the irony, is well rendered.

What an incredibly sarcastic little tale.

    Better ending would have been:
"There's one thing I just couldn't explain however. As I was replacing the drapes the spy torn off my window, I couldn't help but notice the green. As the weeks passed and my conscious neglect to reattach the drapes continued, I still couldn't help but notice the green, and I could have sworn, it was getting bigger.

The ending is disappointing to say the least. Just because the fascists would likely prevail in real life, doesn’t mean they have to win in fiction.

this is the second old sci-fi story that i have tried to listen to...they're incredibly dated which is a curious problem with something that's supposed to give us a glimpse of the future....wondering how Terra survived the times that they were written in--and of course the answer is not by much...the stories seem to represent every negative imaginable and would include 'sarcastic' since it brings to mind mean-spirited treatment of others with little suggestion of even a negative sort of humor... they're not entertaining and the sexism, hints of bigotry and narrow-mindedness are hard to take and it seems that the course of history to selfishness and greed of the gilded-age style of the robber-baron...trump and the January 6th insurrection attempt might well have been inevitable. it is what it is...
