Judicial Watch announced that it filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of David Flynn, the father of two Dedham Public School students, who was removed from his position as head football coach after exercising his right as a citizen to raise concerns about his daughter’s seventh-grade history class curriculum being changed to include biased coursework on politics, race, gender equality, and diversity (Flynn v. Forrest et al. (No. 21-cv-10256)).
The lawsuit, which was filed in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, seeks damages against the superintendent, high school principal, and high school athletic director for retaliating against Flynn for exercising his First Amendment rights.
The lawsuit details that in September 2020, Flynn’s daughter’s seventh-grade history class, which was listed as “World Geography and Ancient History I,” was taught issues of race, gender, stereotypes, prejudices, discrimination, and politics.

Dedham School and their public school system needs to be sued! 1st amendment rights supercede any curriculum especially a politically motivated curriculum.

I honestly hate to say this, but until you parents take all the kids out of public school, nome school them, silence the US hating teachers. This will continue. @@aetherdjinn he wasn't even a regular employee. He's a contract worker who insulted his boss in an email he himself admitted to sending to 20 people, and which had his coach signature. He called his boss names and escalated issues, all because he didn't get his way.

I’m so sorry him and his family had to experience this. I pulled my daughter from school for this exact reason. Critical race theory and BLM have no place in our schools.

I love this!!! Nailed it!!! I remember going to Super Bowl in Brockton!! It was such an exciting time to be a DHS student!! I went and stood in front of the school for him that freezing day, and I don’t even have kids!! One thing I constantly heard over the years: He was a great coach to those kids.

I love how conservatives say that liberals are the sensitive ones. This grown man can't suck up the fact that his daughters teacher has a BLM t-shirt on a stupid emoji. That's hilarious that they fired him. My advice to David Flynn, you are able to tell your daughter whatever you damn please at your home. If you disagree with certain perspectives that she's picking up from school, whether it be a teacher or a peer, then explain to her why you disagree with them. Let her decide for herself whether she should support a certain movement or whether she should avoid it like you do.
P.S. I have cops in my family too. They're great individuals and wear the badge with honor. Many cops don't live up to their title. That's why they can be seen as a threat. If you actually have cops in your family you should know about the cops with their hearts in the right places and the cops that unfortunately do not.

If kids sit for the pledge on their own volition, that should be allowed. Parents as authority figures can talk over that matter at home.
For the record, I don't think the school should have fired him. I just think this dad did way too much. Should've had conversations with his daughter at home and let the school handle their business. Obviously the school put their trust in this teacher and her curriculum.

The ideology that POC or marginalized groups are incapable of being qualified for a position and any job they get, it's solely due to their minority status always fascinates me. Dedham’s school committee elections are actually this weekend. There are eight candidates (mix of progressives and conservatives, but mostly progressives) running for three seats. Should be interesting to see what impact this story has on the results.

I hope he wins. Dedham is a working class town that's been invaded by limo liberals escaping the higher cost of living of Cambridge, Newton, and Brookline. I would like to see a system model made available to parents where they can pull their kids out of these schools for homeschooling that is done by a group of parents in a manner that is more akin to a classroom style of teaching. In short, parents make their own private schools of sorts.
Every parent has the right to question a taxed based school system's curriculum without being demeaned and or persecuted for doing so, as public school are supported by parent tax payers' dollars as well.

I'm a 62 year old white Christian male, who is raising, along with his grandmother, our 4 year old grandson. His mom is black. I live in Maine, but not as far from the madness as I thought. Mom recently called me racist. Already issues, threats. Had to get a handgun. Me, a lifelong Democrat. A social worker. Now retired and. Trump supporter.
I am 68 retired disabled I went and got the permit. I recommend you sign up for some sort of carry insurance. & I pray that it never has to be used. They want to go ahead & create some sort of big Fiasco. We must remove every single demonrat we can.
