This isn't my favorite Touhou song (although it comes close!). But still... But still, out of all the music in these games, Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke is the one that best holds in its melodies the feeling of Touhou, and in it lies the emotions that the majority of the games try to evoke. It is the song most embodying the spirit of the Touhou Project.
Hah! The immortal mongrel Mokou barely even does anything with her life other than try to unsuccesfully plot revenge against the lunar princess. At least Kaguya and her companion find ways to entertain themselves properly with what they already own instead of wallowing in the past.
Am I the only one who felt the surge of nostalgia and sadness everytime I hear this theme. Her backstorry is actually quite saddening and I saw the backstory told in EWI video version, and its even sadder.
Out of all the ost until this point on the saga, Mokou's theme is a special case in the game. It's intense, it hits hard, it has a long build up, and really REALLY gets you on mood. And hell Mokou is a tough extra boss, with really tricky geometrical patterns, very original and disjointed attacks, makes this battle a one much more memorable

It's pretty slick how mythology use symbolism to describe things in a roundabout way. Mokou has a long running history of hatred for Kaguya ever since the moon princess humiliated Mokou's father by turning down his marriage proposal after she caused him to fail her trial of the Impossible Requests.

@luckey1126 If you want some advice in my humble opinion songs that you find yourself listening to over and over for long periods of time are important reason why, is they resonate with you always hold songs like this close. If you find a song like this, write its name down in a journal or on your phone so that you can come back to it and never forget it lol!

It's pretty slick how mythology use symbolism to describe things in a roundabout way. It's possible that the transformation process occurring as the elixir enters the body...is a description of spiritual awakening. Which makes Mokou the awakened, whole, spiritually perfect version of who she once was.
I only listened to one Touhou music recently and now my RUclips recommendation is filled with Touhou songs... Can't complain really cuz Imma binge these XD

Yeah I read about how her and Kaguya were almost in Hisoutensoku. I just hope she becomes playable in any official Touhou game at some point. Come on ZUN! Make an excuse for Mokou to be in the next Touhou! :D

Im pretty sure this was the first touhou song ive heard. Yall ever heard of Scratch? That one coding website? Well, i was browsing it, and there was this "Remix yourself running away from a creeper" and this song was playing in one of them and a king dedede remix of night of nights. ive never heard of touhou, so i didnt know what this song was. Some years after that, i was playing a roblox game, and un owen was her was playing i still didnt know where this song was from. Many years later, i was watching TerminalMontage's something about smash bros world of light, and at one point, a siivagunner song was playing, which sounded like a remixed version of un owen was her. i found that video, and looked at the comments and found the original, which i saw the name "touhou", so i looked up "touhou songs" on youtube and found night of nights and flowering nights), and this song. Now i love touhou music, and im thinking about trying out a touhou game.
