Man I dunno, the M8 sounded very good. Just a little too quiet. Most people didn't realize that both exhaust banks dumped out in the passenger side. So when it drove by and you were in driver side, it was super quiet. But if you were on passenger side it was surprisingly louder than you thought, and that sound was very nice.
Hard to argue with the general sense of your statement, but man.... The M8 had a wonderful off-throttle crackle that was like music when you were lucky enough to catch it in isolation. It'll be missed.
@@papertiger795 I liked the overall sound, but when it was on track with the C7R and rear exhaust RSR, it was too quiet to make any impression. Even the Ford GT was louder than I expected. I made sure to make it to Lime Rock in 2019 before they all went bye-bye :(
@@HCoreSoldierKili usually, in some European racetrack, there is a noise restriction, so racecars on said tracks needs to install silencers. But I don't really like it personally. 😟 loudness is what makes the racing atmosphere alive.
The grille gets hate from around the globe, but you can’t deny that the front end of that car looks absolutely incredible. The grille makes the GT3 look so menacing, especially with that headlight design. I used to hate it, but it’s grown on my so much that I actually appreciate it for what it is now
I think its the wider fenders and splitter that visually shrinks the grill. Granted it's still a huge snout, but it doesn't look as dominating on the racecar as it does on the street car.
I think the GT3 is uglier than the road-going versions, but not as ugly as the Concept 4. The livery is uninspiring, and it really contributes to the clunky look of this car. They really should've stuck with the dazzle camouflage if they couldn't come up with something better.
@@jkk20 yup that’s a big factor too, sadly. And FIA has been bending to meet their demands. I wish it was like what it used to be, like back in 2012 still. GT3 cars were so raw back then
It sounded amazing in-person, looked rapid through the corners too. What better way to test a new car than running it for 24 hours on one of toughest tracks!
Cool to see BMW on track with a drivetrain that is based on production version (B58/S58). I think that is more in keeping with what Porsche has typically done and should help showcase the technology on the road cars better for customers. Very cool!
The turbo flubber off throttle is not as starwars like as the M8. But in general the sound is much better. Although I don’t like the nose on the road version, with this version it looks mean and i really like it. Hope the car is better than it’s predecessors…
I was expecting a much different engine note, not what I had in mind when I think of straight-six engine. But I love the turbo & anti-lag sounds, and yes it is louder.
I wish this car was loud enough to be heard from the side the exhaust isnt facing. Bmw m8 had the same issue, i thought the car sounded terrible butnit turns out the exhaust just doesnt face the crowd on the infield of daytona. Bmw makes the most interesting sounding racecars I believe
@@jstoli996c4s Erm... actually M4 GT3 is both longer and taller than M8 GTE. This racing M4 is the size of a Dodge Challenger or a Bangle-era 7-series!
Finally, a race car that has an IMPROVED sound. From F1 to Corvette GTS the sound of the motors is a large part of the entertainment for me. Sadly, the sounds have been reduced more and more leading to no sound Formula e. All the autoracing series really should consider making the cars sound good as part of their regs.
P58 engine. It’s the road going S58 straight 6 engine but pivoted completely vertical with air to air cooling (rather than water to air) and a dry sump. Still retains factory turbos
I haven't been to a race since the Z4 days, but I have listened to videos of the M6 and M8 on this channel. What little noise the M8 makes is pretty nice.
This is pure racecar ASMR.. Loved it.
🏁🏁
The off throttle sound is awsome
This car is definite sound improvement over the M6 and silent M8

Sounds much louder than M6 GT3, a bit louder than M8 GTE.
The front looks bit better than road going version.
Anyway, nice shot, Lanky. 👍
🏁🏁🏁🏁
For real tho the front of the car really does look much better
Love those antilag and TC noises, definitely a volume upgrade from the M6 and M8
dont you miss the m6s bov sounds tho??
@@thepelaaja8764 in person the BOV these sounds insane, great turbo flutter occasionally too
@@loganurrunaga6066 sure, but not as great as the m6s
I didn’t like the big grill until I saw this gt3 version. It looks and sounds phenomenal
Nice video, some good spots around the track.
The car sounds much louder at Sebring then it did at Spa and the Nürburgring when I filmed it.
did they change something on the exhaust? definitely way louder than the early videos.

My goodness does that machine look menacing and so beautiful and sounds so perfect.
Another great vid Lanky!
Front looks much better than the road car.
Aggressive exhaust too.
I got a ton of footage of this gorgeous car. It definitely had my attention the entire weekend.

Jet fighter for the track
I was at the 24h Sebring this thing sounded absolutely amazing
Getting used to the oversized kidney grills now
Looks and sounds amazing, I’m a fan!
Yes!
THE CAR LOOKS GOOD AND SOUNDS GOOD
That’s one fast vacuum cleaner
Awesome Brian, well done! 🏁
Thanks Mike!
Needs a louder exhaust!
cars have to have mufflers now... yeah, racecars with mufflers... makes no sense i know, but its true.

That is one bumpy ride, Sebring.... Nice car 👍🏻
I get it now...The grille is made to scare racers away when they look in the rear view mirror.
Weird off throttle noises
thanks mr turtle
Damn that m4 looks very good in a racing suit
Looks so good out on track and sounds not to bad either, hopefully we get a road version at some point :D
Wait, I recall Sebering is 12 hours... Not 24, when did it changed?
Damn. This looks amazing.
This thing looks serious
Best of luck BMW👍!!!
Incredible. Sounds great!
At least one car showed up for the race!
Because its the test car.

Wwwoow awesome thx for the pure sound
Still hate the front end but got to say it looks kind of futuristic and tough

How can we get that sound in the road car jesus
Pure beast

Why is it so quiet???
GIGA BMW

What’s that whining sound when it’s accelerating
The transmission. It's the way the gears are cut on racing transmissions that causes it.

Twin turbo inline 6

Thing sounds like a vacuum cleaner in a blender with a dash of whistle. Not good IMO.
It's amazing how such a butt ugly road car can look so good as a race car. To me, the grill looks like the nostril holes of a skull.
