- In this video i will show you how to install windows 8 or 8.1 on your laptop or desktop computer in 2021 in few easy and simple steps.
For this you will need a application called rufus a iso image from windows 8 and a empty usb flash drive with 8gb in size.

in 2024 and still helped me, i build new PC fo myself and my old one get some new parts and i gaved him to my uncle, but Windows 11 are not compatible with old motherboard so i bought Win 8.1 and i had problems how to instal them, this video was problemsolver for me. Thanks.
Noice, upgraded my 2009 PC from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 thx to this awesome man ( Note- Even after jan10 2023, Microsoft still offers security updates to Win 8.1)

I recently upgraded my PC to Windows 10 from 8.1 but I missed Windows 8.1 so now, I am back on 8.1
Did you have to download everything you had back when you switched ?

Basically Win 8.1 is supported by MS until Jan 2023 and is lighter than Win 10 (after 20H2).
I've installed Win 8.1 and updated to the latest version. It is visibly more faster and uses only up to 800 MB RAM at idle, which is crucial with a low end PC (with 4 GB RAM), meanwhile windows 10 use at least 1.5GB RAM at idle even after de-bloating.

thanks! i downgraded to windows 8.1 because windows 10 updates are like non-stop i hope you get my opinion and with every update my computer is getting slower so i decided to downgrade. (and windows 8.1 is my first OS)

Thank you so much for the information on MBR vs GPT in rufus. I just could not figure out why I only got graphical artifacts when trying to install on my mom's older laptop! I thought it might be the new ram/ssd/usb stick that i got for her, but this little piece of info you included in the video helped solve this.

it depends what you work on windows and do you have a ssd or hdd?
if you have a hard disk drive it will lag running windows 8.1.

I have to downgrade to Windows 8 because my motherboard is a gaming made by MSI especially for Windows 8, since it was out in 2014 so Win10 wasn't out yet, my PC kind works fine in win10 it kind of affects hard drives, can totally freeze, stop working or probably not doing the required RPM, so in my motherboard I can overclock the CPUs and ram and fast boot. But in order to do all that I'll need to use Windows 8, which sucks because it won't be available after 2023, honestly I don't get it why Microsoft wants to deactivate older OS if they know that people still need those OS, for schools PCs etc and for people who cannot use Win11 on their PCs? First time Microsoft disappointed me, deeply.
The reason for older operating systems being out of support is because there's nothing Microsoft can really do. It'd be overwhelming work for Microsoft. They do try to keep older Operating systems in support for as long as they can though.
For example security updates for Windows XP.
Windows XP came back from 2 decades ago. It is far out of support.

Where is the key? From where did you get it?
The serial key number came with the PC as a sticker from Microsoft for my specific computer, so you will have to provide the serial number for the operating system or buy it.

You will need to install the OFFICIAL drivers for your specific brand model PC.

dont format the drive just install over it or install on another partition or disk drive or create a virtual machine or maybe just backup your files on an external drive or usb flash drive.
