- We've all drifted away at some point. We've all chosen other things over God. But we can all choose something else, too. We can choose to come home.
"I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance." Luke 15:7.
He wants us to come home to Him, our God and creator. And we can! It only takes a choice to not resist His calling, and we will be home.
This hymn has great personal significance for my family and I. When my grandfather became a believer, this song was sung at the altar call of the evangelistic series he was attending on the night he chose to follow God. What a beautiful call that was answered! May we all do the same each day.
Lord, I'm Coming Home
Verse 1
I’ve wandered far away from God,
Now I’m coming home;
The paths of sin too long I’ve trod;
Lord, I’m coming home.
Chorus
Coming home, coming home
Nevermore to roam;
Open wide Thine arms of love;
Lord I’m coming home.
Verse 2
I’ve wasted many precious years,
Now I’m coming home;
I now repent with bitter tears;
Lord, I’m coming home.
Verse 3
I’m tired of sin and straying Lord,
Now I’m coming home;
I’ll trust thy love believe Thy word;
Lord I’m coming home.
Verse 4
My only hope, my only plea,
Now I’m coming home;
That Jesus died, and died for me;
Lord I’m coming home.
Verse 5
I need His cleansing blood I know,
Now I’m coming home;
O wash me whiter than the snow;
Lord I’m coming home.
