    Fab film, your really showing what repairs are possible on a budget with what parts folk might be able to get their hands on, great stuff!

    Great job, sir maybe the long hose on your compression tester gives you a lil lower figures

    • @HarveySpooner
      @HarveySpooner  3 года назад +3

      Hey Geoffrey!!!!! I kind of look at a compression test as a go, no go, above 60ps i, engine runs, below 50, will not run.... There are a few tricks to get a little more... Thanks for Ur kind words, observations, watching, and commenting!!!

    Tell me you weren't sandbagging the cold start just to build up the drama! Great parts swapping adventure Harvey, no we move onto the ride portion of the show with the rolling commentary. Like all good journeys, you want to get to the end but before you do, you start to wonder what the next journey might be like.

    • @HarveySpooner
      @HarveySpooner  3 года назад +2

      Hey Steve, Today's adventure involved a lot of oil burning smoke!!! I wish I could plan better, when I plan ahead, I get nothing done, when I just go out and get started, next thing I know, something is fixed, running, or riding again... Did U find the hen???? Thanks always for Ur thoughts, encouragement, wisdom, watching, and commenting!!!

      @@HarveySpooner Sorry to say the hen is long gone but as a tribute I had scrambled eggs and sausage for supper. I picked up a Honda Rancher 420 4x4 today and before I bring it home I'll swap out the wheels and tires. It only has 160 miles on it and the price was right so what the heck, it'll be the only thing I own that doesn't need work! I hope it was the atc motor smoking and not Cheech and Chong stopping by. Later Harvey.

      Hey Steve, Sorry the hen is gone, hopefully, it made a tasty dinner for some critter out there!!! Sausage and scrambled eggs, the only things that can make that better would be some bacon and a stack of butter milk pancakes with butter and real maple syrup!!! Good to hear that U popped for a working atv!!! My trx300 4x4 does that for me!!! Take care Bud!!!

      @@HarveySpooner I'm just tired of waiting to get all my machines through the shop where I help out. When customers are paying 50+ per hour and we've 30 atvs, 15 bikes and some side by sides all needing repair and anxious customers calling and stopping by every day wanting their stuff ASAP, and many calls coming in with more machines needing repair. I can't compete or complain since most of my machines run pretty well. Some of the other shops make appointments 2 months out. If being open 6 days a week isn't enough we will all just have to deal with it.

    dang that piston is toast i only seen one like that once. it was a honda xr100r, he was revving the nards off it on a 110 degree day not moving, prob low on oil too. it even blued the rod a bit.

    • @HarveySpooner
      @HarveySpooner  3 года назад +1

      Hey David!!! I have seen 2 cycles that melted down, this is my first 4 cycle... I think U R right, running hard, hot day and low oil.... It stalled, cooled off, came back with low compression, never started again.... Thanks for Ur knowledge, wisdom, watching, and commenting!!!

    muriatic acid
    takes bearing material off crank shafts in little engines , wonder what it would do to the cylinder wall.

    • @HarveySpooner
      @HarveySpooner  3 года назад +1

      Hey Terri!!! I think muriatic acid eats aluminum, so, I'm sure it would work, just don't want to leave it there too long!!! Thanks for the good idea, wisdom, thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!

    perhaps mr injured and melted piston, maybe added to a broken wrist pin forr a " spine" and welded together and other welds placed in " just the right places" to make it resemble a beat up robotic looking piece of homemade art?

    So ya got it going ...... hmmmm ! Lol. Buddy you need a big well equipped work bench to do your rebuilds and a ATV hydraulic table ! Everyone enjoys your videos and as far as I’m concerned your the resident RUclips Honda expert hands down ! So in my opinion your shop should reflect that , you have the space now with your nice looking car port and maybe have a guest with there HONDA ATC and you show them how to fix it ! That could go viral ! Just a thought you know Mustie with his new shop is exploding !

    • @HarveySpooner
      @HarveySpooner  3 года назад +1

      Hey Dave, Mustie does have a nice shop and he set it up well!!! He does a much better job at rehoming projects once they are done, keeps the clutter out of his shop! I was thinking about the work bench that U describe, something standing level, with tools, jump pac, gas tank, portable cdi right there!!! I did one fix it at Udizzy's with mustie1, I hacked a 110cc half quad's ignition, we got it running and mustie1 welded a shop stool on as front wheels, he and Udizzy were riding it around the parking lot.... Fun times before the plague set in!!! Thanks always for Ur kind words, good suggestions, for triggering fond memories, watching, and commenting!!!

    You should oil change that first engine brfore a ride. (please). And I think I'd pull that wiesco piston out of thd other wheeler and drop a standard piston back in. 👍👍

    • @HarveySpooner
      @HarveySpooner  3 года назад +2

      Hey Fan, The bore and wiesco oversized piston are a match set, a very mean matched set... I should replace the piston and jug with a standard matched set!!! My hand still rings when I think about it!!! I will be changing the oil, I look forward to seeing what is in the screen.... Thanks for the good suggestions, wisdom, watching, and commenting!!!
