My favorite bit of the wish concept pulling the party together is that you can blend everyone's favourite character from whatever campaign and run an eXiles or Legends of Tomorrow style group with each player from a different multiversal realm.
my initial thought was, if you have a group of experienced players, having each of them call dibs on a different ttrpg setting, so you can literally have a character from a ton of different ones. a greyhawk character, forgotton realms, barovian, ebberon, hell even golarion. just seems like a fun way to make a crazy party

It's funny because Vecna marked the dramatic shift from 2e to 3e as well in "Die Vecna Die!" I imagine a glass case in WotC and formerly TSR's offices with Vecna inside, and a sign that reads "in case of sweeping rules adjustments, break glass"
Strangely enough I let my friend borrow "Die Vecna Die!" and he adapted it for 5e to run for 4 days at GenCon this year. Glad this came out to give him some additional ideas and stat blocks, though he said he had most of what he wanted to do figured out.

I also ABSOLUTELY would love to find a DM who'd run this and I would absolutely bring my main PC (That I haven't got to play yet but have built and crafted a story for over the past year or so)
I have to say as a player for well over 30 years and all additions of the DnD multiverse I am so happy I purchased this adventure. My group is currently working to 10th lvl so they can be ready for the adventure. It is a finally something that can challenge some of the highest level characters that a team can play, but also introduces them to others that are even more.
I'm thinking of putting this on the back end of the Avernus campaign. The PCs might be a bit higher level at the beginning but I don't think that will be a big issue.

Very nice to see some support for higher level content. I could see the DMs needing to tweak/ tailor the adventure based off what their level 10 party might have already done.
I really wish that Nest of the Eldritch Eye was free to all, could really help hype up the book. I've preordered but not on DND Beyond. Still excited for the book.
While I like the idea of seeing all the places we have visited in the past, the recent books seems to have really latched on to this theme of planes hopping. My favorite books have been ones that are mostly a single setting. Out of the Abyss, Curse of Strahd, Storm Kings Thunder, Tomb of Annihilation. I kind of prefer the deep dive into a region over planes hopping to multiple realms in a single book. It always feels like each one isn't very flushed out.
Plane hopping feels good for a level 20 adventure. As a DM that has all the older adventures, I'm going to have so much fun revisiting and augmenting the Vecna adventure with the old stuff
Vecna is the Freddy Kruger of D&D. I am all for anything that allows for high level play. and if they do well with it there will be another example of high level play to go with DoMM.

I am so excited for this. I currently run two campaigns for the same group - Curse of Strahd and Phandelver and Below. Does one of these fit better as prequel for Eve of Ruin?

Is it weird I have an idea for a 1-20 campaign idea from this? Like the idea is the current version of the characters living less than spectacular lives. Then depending on the GM how they’ll form the group, they realized what they should be doing. Good news if a character dies or a TPK the party could be backup characters filling up the roster
Ao exists above our notions of morality and power. He is all powerful and unknowable. For all we know, he could be responsible for setting Vecna loose upon the multiverse once again.
It seems like a great book. Will there be a Vecna pre-painted mini for sale for a normal miniature price? It would be great if it was available for everybody who wants one.
I'm excited for the tale this adventure presents for characters! I like seeing one of The Seven in the tale, but wonder why she is the only one? No matter-stoked!
What would be a good campaign to lead up into this? I know they have a one-shot, but would love to hear some thoughts for a level 1 to 9 campaign to tie into this new adventure. Maybe an unrelated campaign that you have to add some cult of Vecna references to. Any ideas?
So Descent into Avernus has a pretty big Vecna thing that there's no way they can't reference or bring up in this campaign, plus the video mentions Avernus as one of the locations they will revisit
So it's a reworking of the Rod of Seven Parts, with the sales hook of Vecna bolted on? OK, I can work with that. I was just looking at my 2nd Ed box set the other day actually. Nice image of Miska. As an 'introduction' though? Did they really pitich running L10+ characters in 5e as an ideal 'introduction'? This system is a monster to run at those levels.
Since Vecna here already ascended to godhood, could it be played as a sequel of "Vecna Lives!", "Vecna Reborn" and (maybe) "Die Vecna Die"? Also, speaking about the rod... I wonder if the Ravenloft part will have something to deal with the Rod of Rastinon of the Apparatus :) probably not, but who knows. Also, I think I'll use this module as a sequel of Curse of Strahd (implementing ideas from "From the shadows" and "Roots of evil"), then playing an adventure in Darkon, one in Mordent, then "Vecna Lives!", then "Vecna Reborn" and then Eve of Ruin as the final adventure of the campaign :)
Obviously we don’t know yet, but I think it’ll be really funny if WOTC has re-statted Vecna to combat all the weaknesses that came to light when they released the Vecna dossier. Almost like we didn’t realise we were playtesting the villain, so they can remove the weaknesses
I am both intrigued and concerned. Sure, being able to play a high-level campaign would be fun. However, you know for a fact that the writers are not prepared for all the broken build players to absolutely suplex Vecna. I hope there is no mechanics or story beats that takeaway player agency. Namely, "Well he's basically a god so you can't do anything." I agree with another comment that either this is going to be a legendary high level adventure or janky as heck. Really tempted to pre-order so I can get the book but I might wait to get the digital instead.
I wonder if this book will have rules for starting characters with magical items at higher levels. It sure would stink to be a lvl 10 fighter without a magic weapon of any kind and not being able to damage higher level monsters starting out.
Just wondering if any of these events will wind up getting reflected in Exandria. Since the events of campaign 1 were made canon when Arkan stole the hand of Vecna which was mentioned in descent into Avernus, it makes me wonder if Matt Mercer has any intentions of revisiting Vecna in his world. I personally think he will and should leave it be and the events of this new book can happen in such a way that isn't felt in Exandria, perhaps thanks to he divine gate. Would just feel weird to backtrack when things reached a satisfying conclusion. I realize the door has been left open to revisit with certain loose ends still untied, but it just feels like Matt is done with the character as a major threat for a while.
@spartanfox2477 Exactly. Why use someone from the Faerun Pantheon instead of the Greyjawk one. Let's just blend them all instead of keeping them unique. WoTC is currently only producing content for Faerun and completely ignoring their other prime material worlds. Let's get rid of tiamat and turn her into Takhisis..or eliminate Myrkul and Bane and turn them into Nerull. Change all of Mordenkainens spell names into Elminster. No overgod in Greyhawk so Ao can just slide over. Honestly I am surprised Ao would even allow an intruder like Vecna in. I could just see him let vecna the lich in, after all, he's not divine. But as soon as he goes divine the door slams shut and vecna is hurled back to Greyhawk.
Wait... does this mean I get to use my demi god for a multiversal campaign? Oh boy my lord of conquer is gonna make a real killing with this chapter. Gonna have to re check his states from fifteen years ago.
This might be an unpopular opinion but don't we need/want more low to mid level monsters since most games are run below level ten? I appreciate vecna just like the next guy but I want some well written mid range monsters I can use to get my players engaged.

I know I’m not up to date but are the obelisks involved or what
So excited!! I'm totally going to run that on this channel!
Strahd show's up? Picture me excited :)
I miss seeing Chris Perkins in dnd streams
Very hyped for this, wonder what 1-10 campaign to run before this would mesh the best, planescape?
Wow. I want to play this.
I am both intrigued and concerned. Sure, being able to play a high-level campaign would be fun. However, you know for a fact that the writers are not prepared for all the broken build players to absolutely suplex Vecna.
I hope there is no mechanics or story beats that takeaway player agency. Namely, "Well he's basically a god so you can't do anything."
I agree with another comment that either this is going to be a legendary high level adventure or janky as heck.
That's on the DM's Manual.
The last official tier 3-4 module started players at level 10 with a very rare item and uncommon item OR two rare items. I imagine something similar
"Gods being murdered"... someone hide Mystra
Level 10 spells confirmed 😂
dnd vecna in tharos will be cool
I wonder if this will tie in with the magazine 🤔 👀
Vecna is a God from Greyhawk, not the Forgotten Realms.
Not anymore
But as soon as he goes divine the door slams shut and vecna is hurled back to Greyhawk.
hope they give vecna some greyhawk powers to his stats
I was going to run a homebrew dnd game, that plan has changed
Will we see who is the voice Inside vecna’s head in this campaign ??? 🙏
9:46 genuine question: when in the 5e timeline did Tasha stop being Chaotic Evil?
Wait... does this mean I get to use my demi god for a multiversal campaign? Oh boy my lord of conquer is gonna make a real killing with this chapter. Gonna have to re check his states from fifteen years ago.
Looks awesome :) How long do we have to hold out in order to play it on the new vtt?
This might be an unpopular opinion but don't we need/want more low to mid level monsters since most games are run below level ten? I appreciate vecna just like the next guy but I want some well written mid range monsters I can use to get my players engaged.
