@@Manakuski this car is a classic... A true drivers car... Me i not care the highway part.. This car is begging to be driven in small Streets from corner to corner
Its a great car. The engine induction sound is actually better than the exhaust, VTEC kicks in really good, you can use it as a daily and get great milage. To top it all, its a really solid and reliable engine.
Had my ep3 since October and I’m never getting rid of it its an amazing car with such a well engineered engine. Proper mans car that you actually have to drive properly in order to go fast instead of been in a A45 AMG for example and putting in sport mode and putting your foot down with tons of electronic computers monitoring you! I preferred heel and toe and left foot braking on country roads any day 😁
rear independant suspension, the vtec cam, the drift, abs and asm, 8500 rpm redline, limited slip diff, quarter mile in under 15 seconds, are just some of the reasons that make this car not only fun and quick to drive but also make it an incredibly safe car to drive. if one needed more feedback through the steering column one should buy an old lotus or radical.
One of the best engines and gear boxes ever made. I had a brand new 2005 Civic Type R and i regret selling it. I've owned Golf Gti, Subaru Impreza and BMW's. But that little Civic Type R will always be my favourite. Wasn't the fastest car but the way it drove and looked and also that V-Tec engine was just perfect.
Had a 04 EP3 JDM. It was 215hp, limited slip diff and i think the steering rack as different? It was so much fun to drive. It also had good storage and a simple layout. Owned it for 4 years and sold it for almost what i paid for it.
I bought one of the first ep3 civics. I collected it 24th December 2001 and it was a 51 plate. When you bought New you got to go on a Honda MAC course. I took my mum and she was soon doing S bends at 105mph! Brilliant car!
"Speed is a number, fast is a feeling.." hot hatches should be all about that, and this car 100% is a masterpiece. AND you can keep is alive easy and will still run 10/20 years later.
I’ve got one of these my other half bought it for me for my 50 th a couple of years ago , absolutely love it 😍 handles brilliantly an so much fun to drive 😀
This Civic has a common problem with its steering rack, a plastic slider inside of it wears out, becomes very loose, and you get loose steering of your car. Checking and replacing it can improve things a lot. Speaking from my own experience.
Legendary cars. The sharp throttle response, turn in, relentless high rpm power and sense of involvement is rare to find these days in modern lazy heavy point and go hot hatches. These need an LSD though. I have a Quaife diff in mine and it has transformed the car. Improved traction and claws around corners. No understeer at all.
I had a fully stock EP3 30 anniversary with 47000km and held it until it had 150000. Full footh down gave me 240 easy and stop. Don't understand this one doesn't go more then 200 or so.. but it's a great car. I had 3 in total and still holding the last one with 270000 Miles on it! Love it
I had a Corolla T-Sport which did the same thing just a little less power (189bhp). Super, super fun to drive. When you hit that 6K rpm it just takes off. Quick changes keep it on that second cam too. The only thing was motorway cruising was not very nice, Revs really high at normal speeds. I think it was close to revs numbers half the speed so 80 mph was 4000 rpm. So a lot of droning. And yeah, it takes a long stretch to get to max speed. 120mph and above takes forever.
Greymark shrewsnose1 I’ve got the premier edition 05 reg Cosmic Grey. Hoping to make it about 260/270- 300BHP. Very happy with it. I want a red FK8 one day hopefully.

Jason Juggler tbh most people will pay a premium for the facelifts but they rot much much worse than the pre-facelifts which people steer away from. I know which one id prefer. Far better value getting a non rusty £3k prefacelift than a rusty £5k facelift
I love my civic EP3 Type R. What it lacks in actual power it definitely makes up for in character. It is a legendary car though because EVERYONE!! wants to race you everywhere you go. I guess they want to see if it's a crazy 400hp little monster or not lol. I've got a tegiwa induction & DC catback so it sounds good, so when i drive around i've seen people behind me risk their lives & others around them just to get behind me. It's crazy the attention these cars can get.
A little late here but...Yes I know exactly what you mean with them crazy people who see you driving this ep3... they do some dangerous and crazy stuff just to race you..even when you're driving normal.. I had one of these for 7 years and I drove it like I stole it almost all the time. I went through loads of brakes and tyres but the engine and gearbox just took it and asked for more. If you can find one without rust they are amazing value for money.
Max i think this car is awesome.. just depend if someone prefer the torque on low revs on not.. i love all cars personally.. i also drove the lancia delta integrale and (of course impressive) but really incredible turbo lag till 3300 rpm
7:14 That shouldn’t happen, what you are talking about is bump steer and it happens when an ep3 is lowered too much. By the looks off it in the intro it looks lower than standard height. So to solve that you usually install a steering rack raiser 😉
Hello Hi I’ve just picked up the new GTI performance on Saturday and it is very similar in the way my old civic performed. This is my new favourite car now haha. 👍🏻
If I moved to Europe I would buy one. Another we never got in the US. One of the all time greatest hot hatches for sure. No limited slip are you certain?
Very funny how the Polo driver at 12:15 thinks he can hold up with the Civic :D The EP3 Type R is definetly my favourite out of all Type R's. I for myself drive the little brother of the EP3 - a 2004 EP2 in Midnight Black Pearl - as my first car and even the 110 hp it has make me smile every time I drive it :)
Second best looking civic, obviously the original type or takes that title, but i just wanted to say that engine block can be made to withhold 1000bhp plus with the right decking from 4 pisston and forged rods pistons, big injecters a big modern turbo, would be a monster, but i beleave stock with a turbo can get a comfortable 350 400 stock, but ep3s are the most fun out of all the type rs i believe the original a very very close sec3
Would love to have this in the US. By the time the Civic got the K20 it was bigger and heavier, this thing weighs nothing comparatively. I race the hell out of it in Forza Motorsport 6 though! LMAO when he says it's really not that fast as he's busting ass down the road in a Civic. It's definitely fast for a Civic.
