I have to disagree about Bix. She was instrumental in getting Luthen connected with Cassian, helped took care of Maarva, and risked her life trying to find Cassian, which she eventually paid for by getting tortured. But even then, she didn’t give anything up, at least not that we know of. Bix’s relationship with Tim might not have been ideal. But given that Andor was always away, she has to think about her own future and about settling down. Relationships can be complex and love isn’t the only variable.
Like all the other characters, Bix was real - down to the boy toy she wasn’t really all in with and her confused sense of pity and duty towards Andor. It was meaningful that Andor saved her because he didn’t have that sort of relationship with anybody else. Not to mention that he owed her one (or two).
I thought Bix was just okay, but there's a lot of potential for season 2. It will be interesting to see whether her reaction to the torture will be to run as far away as a spaceship can carry her, or to go all in on burning the Empire down. I'm hoping for the latter.

Notice when he shouts "LOOK AT ME!" when speaking with Vel, but then goes back to a conciliatory tone "you wanted to lead, this is how it's going to be". They were going for a different kind of prison, different than the prison work camp depicted in Rouge One that Jen Erso was rescued from. They felt that they were truly channeling GL.
Best Star Wars since Empire - honestly, I'm beginning to think it's the best SW ever. Love Lucas for creating the SW Universe, but let's be honest, he was never a great writer. Tony Gilroy has made a SW property that actually makes PAST SW better - because now we understand WHY so many were willing to die to bring down the Empire - we understand the COST of the Empire & the cost of bringing it down - not the cost to a Skywalker or a Solo; the cost to ordinary people. Also, huge props to Tony Gilroy who foisted a show about Marxist revolutionary theory on one of the most savagely capitalist companies in the world.
I was kind of in disbelief when I watched it, how did they even let him go through with it haha "the capitalists will sell us the rope with which to hang them" comes to mind.
I think you cant really compare Andor and The Mandalorian, because each absurdly excels in what aimed to achieve and they aimed at vastly different things. Mando is a loveletter to japanese samurai movies and western spaghettis, which inspired a lot of star wars and focused on a story about types of characters we never knew existed in the galaxy. Andor focuses on the other side of SW, the actual “Wars”, real politics, real sacrifices done by many revolutions in our world. So for me, while Mando focused on the “Star” part, Andor focused on the “Wars” part.
I was off Star Wars, for years. I don't know what compelled me to try Andor, but man, I'm glad I did. It got me so pumped about Star Wars that I revisited the prequels (and immediately regretted it) and gave some of the more recent shows I haven't seen a look. Unfortunately, Andor has made it hard for anything else out there to seem worth the time investment to watch, to me at least. Except Rogue One. That shit is great. Mmm. Why could that be, I wonder?
Everything to do with the Rogue One story has been really grounded and gritty and I adore it. I know Jedi, Sith, and the Force are what makes Star Wars Star Wars but I prefer the stories without them, the everyday people.
I'd argue that this was the best content star wars has ever put out. Sure the old movies have aged well, and rogue one was also very good, to me this was the show/movie where I felt this "oh boy I neeeeed to know what happens next", through this straight, gripping storytelling, the clarity and suspense it puts, not by using blount in your face methods, but good old storytelling & character building. Agreed on the issue of short-term-entertainment sacrificing long-term storytelling that has been an issue in movie series and tv-show for me. I had a few friends saying "well andor is boring" after the first few episodes. It didn't feel like to me, hence I continued watching and now all of us agree that the time invested was absolutely worth it..
YES! You are 100% right about Andor. This is THE BEST Disney Star Wars show, period. I just re-watched the entire season. You’ve captured everything I love about this show. Andor is a level of storytelling we don’t see often enough. It is layer upon layer of ingredients added to make something much more amazing than the mere sum of those layers... I mean, even the main title music changes to prelude each episode - who does that? That is a level of detail which is incredible! The nuance and interplay throughout the show are fantastic and you’ve captured it perfectly! If you want to go on for hours about this show, I'm with you. Thank you for your commentary.
Underrated youtuber. Excellent work. Comparing mando and andor is not fair as they're both different tones. One farm fandom from the OT while the other farms fandom from PT/CW/Rebels
The best content Disney has generated using the Star Wars IP to date. The slow burn isn't slow at all as long as you're genuinely devoting your time to watching the media, and consuming its content with an effort to understand what story they're trying to tell. It's about Cassian, sure, but behind the scenes we have side plots going on simultaneously because, yknow, at large there's the events of the entire Galactic Civil War that we saw in Rogue One and the original trilogy *on the very close horizon* to whats going on with Mon Mothma in the political sphere, the Empire and their agents, and Luthen playing a huge role in financially funding their conflict while keeping it on the down-low. the fact that Cassian gets wrapped up in basically all of it feels unreal to see play out, especially after his lackluster role in-universe in Rogue One. Andor puts it all, unironically all of it, into perspective that nothing else could've done better. Rogue One did the same exact thing for the months leading up to Episode IV, and im glad we got another well executed + well produced window into around the same timeline.
Not to shit on Mandalorian or anything (I know it's a different style, not everything needs to be like Andor etc.) but the most ridiculous thing I find is: They hired an actor of the highest caliber, Pedro Pascal, and buried him under a helmet all the time. I'm pretty sure it's not even him in most scenes, he's probably just dubbing his lines. Disney was probably like "**ck the acting and dialogues, just make sure people like shiny armors, laser guns and characterless stuffed toys."
Wow, this dude really hates Bix... Sure, she was lying to Timm, but she *was* running a criminal enterprise (funneling black market parts to the nascent Rebellion) and had ties to Luthen. It makes perfect sense that she would want to keep Timm-With-Two-M's out of the loop -- he clearly doesn't know about her off-the-books deals -- but that comes back to bite them all on the ass when he drops the dime on Cassian out of jealousy. And then she spent the better part of a day looking at his cooling corpse on the stairs.

Andor is, bar none, the best Star Wars story since The Empire Strikes Back. The people who like Tatooine scooter gangs will never understand or appreciate Andor. Your assessments of Dedra Meero "I want her", and Mon Mothma "I need her" are spot on! The show was so good I would subscribe to a RUclips channel simply titled Andor is Amazing and had nothing but content about how astounding Andor is.
This was an awesome show that we really needed. I think there next show should be just like this but being about the military side of the rebellion. Besides rouge one We have yet to see a show/movie just about the soldiers and the war as it all has just been in the background
This is also the first time in Star Wars I ever heard somebody say, "Oh my god" - even though we did get a strange reference with Han in episode 5 when he said, "Then I'll see you in hell!" After he went out into the Blizzard to find Luke.
Really enjoy your thoughts on the use of Planets! As someone who’s been to both Galaxy’s Edge parks, Andor’s setting is the most lived-in I’ve ever felt in the SW universe
I've always believed that Star Wars is such a rich universe that even if you removed the fantasy elements it could very much stand on its own. Andor is further proof of this. Trully peak Star Wars
I wasn't going to watch Andor because of how shit all the other Disney Star Wars stuff has been. But then everyone was like, "yada yada so good," I finally gave it a chance. I am SO glad I did. Stellan Skarsgård's Luthen Rael and Genevieve O'Reilly's Mon Mothma alone were worth the price of admission. Damn. SO GOOD! It was great finally getting to see some good Mon Mothma stuff, too.
I was late to the Andor party. I think after BoBF and Kenobi I felt like Charlie Brown with the football and was determined not to get fooled again. I put it off until this past weekend (what am I gonna watch, the pro bowl?). Holy moly this show was so good. It isn’t all lightsabers and space battles but that’s ok. There wasn’t any fat or storyline they went to where I was like,” oh…I can’t sit to get off this.” It reminded me of the best of GoT where all the characters are compelling and your not sure who you want to succeed (wait if Stannis wins Tyrion is dead…). It’s great can’t wait for season 2
Andor is flawles. every character, conversation, real places, clothing, 'The Eye of Aldhani', minimal SfX, pENDERGAS, we even learn "Tubes" name. Here is one TOTALLY perfect touch, I never noticed til the 6th time I watched it - When Marvva inspires the riot, and Brasso without realizing it gives her her one wish - he takes her "BRICK" literally her cremated ashes - and smashes "these Bastard" Imperial troops right and left. she is literally creating the Rebellion she supported a cudgel in Brasso's giant hands How cool is that? [plus Brasso headbutts a fricking stormtrooper.] and B2EMo has more character and better dialogue than any Mandalorian or even Kenobi. Seriously if Disney wants a hit show for all the family it should be an animated B2Mo spin-off - and his toy merchandise, posters, [all I can think of is his courage leading the funeral marching band, he'd be nervous as hell but determined to pay his tribute to "MMM-arvva" I imagine he hates being the centre stage of all the people of Ferrix. I imagine he would recharge all night so that when he projects her hologram ther is no "pause for dddata lag" aand when the trooper tips him on his side you can actually see the confusion and fear in his 'expression' - and it is THIS ATTENTION TO DETAIL that makes Andor Star Wars Perfection as you so wonderfully put it. thanks for your great video

The Mandalorian is epic. It taps into new mythology and a lone ranger version of the hero’s journey. The character has incorruptible ethics from the start, so his struggle is not with himself but the universe he inhabits. Faced with corruption, betrayal, oppression and uncertainty, he remains steadfast and strong. He is generous with those who are kind, and uncompromising with those who are cruel. He fosters friendships through reciprocity. Din Djarin shows au audience who live in a cost/benefit world the meaning of honour and the strength of religious conviction. Tenderness contrasts with strength in a vibrant palette of backdrops. It is the perfect escapism. Andor is entertaining, and creates strong characters with expert world building. Yet, this realism is too familiar. People have boring jobs, and worry about business. The main character pursues money, and the rebellion is worrying about finance. This isn’t just gritty, it is a glorification of everyday lives, while indulging in anti-elitism. This moral valourization of ‘regular’ people is counter productive. There is no doubt they have humanity with complex emotions, but that doesn’t make them remarkable. Romanticizing the the working class while trivializing the elite might seem subversive, but it tells us very little about how power works. Other than broad, generic and one-dimensional ‘freedom’, we do not learn about the ideas held by those making consequential choices. There is no myth making in which to escape the drudgery of regular life. The moral sentiment is self centred and provincial, the people care about their town but strive for no spiritual or transcendental ideals. And the impulse throughout is to burn everything down - rather than to rebuild, restore or reinvigorate the existing democracy. They’ve given up, and only want to expel the undeniably fascist political order, presumably to restore the unremarkable past without any vision for the future. This reminds me too much of the world we already inhabit and the misguided spirit of our age.
I thought the Mandelorian captured the same mood and feel of the original trilogy, but this eclipsed it by far. No silly kid shit, it’s literally dragging on your soul on how powerful and suffocating the Empire was (AND SHOULD BE). Everything was done just perfectly, and it was a slow burn to a great outcome. This kind of content makes me sign up for streaming services because it is just that good
Do I think Andor is better than the Mandalorian??? MILES better!! Andor is *exactly* what I wanted The Mandalorian to be in the first place, tbh! It is, by far, the best SW since Rogue One, no contest. I mean, don't get me wrong, I didn't mind Mando at all, and it is absolutely better than the Disney Trilogy (Solo's aight) but MY GOD lol this comes out of NOWHERE and blows my mind. I've said before that Andor's approach reminded me of The Winter Soldier, where it took the property on a surprisingly serious and more nuanced level, when compared to other superhero movies. You could even say, especially when compared to what's come out recently, this can also be compared favourably to The Dark Knight Trilogy! I mean, seriously compared to Boba Fett? Why even try? Anyway, great vid...Andor is amazing!! They just don't have to mess Season 2 up. Let Tony do his thing, ppl
When Rouge One came out, I never expected it to be the best movie in the Star Wars universe besides the original trilogy, but it turned out to be just that. I really hope that Andor season two is too far into production that it can't be messed up.
bix is definitely less fully formed than most of the heavy hitters in the cast but her real relationship with cassian and experiences being tortured by the empire is stronger than most characters in the rest of SW

Absolutely love this 🙌🏽
I was kind of in disbelief when I watched it, how did they even let him go through with it haha
"the capitalists will sell us the rope with which to hang them" comes to mind.
somehow good storytelling returned
I love how they really show that the empire are humans too, with feelings, and a genuine belief that they are the ones who are good.
You're absolutely right about Bix.
Loved the video. Andor deserves to change the way star wars is made going forward
Redshirt grunts on both sides of the line 'DESERVE' their own shows/movies/series/miniseries.
this was an awesome essay, it's crazy that you don't even have 100 subs yet 😭
Thank you! Hope to reach that 100 sub goal soon 😄
Edit: Holy smokes I didn't expect to reach it THIS soon. 😳
Stormtroopers actually kill a lot of people, here.
Man I love your videos so much, please keep 'em coming with more frequency!
Everything to do with the Rogue One story has been really grounded and gritty and I adore it. I know Jedi, Sith, and the Force are what makes Star Wars Star Wars but I prefer the stories without them, the everyday people.
I love this type of content!
If Tony Gilroy wrote a show about Max Reebo, it would be nominated to the Emmy’s
Absolutely loved the show…. I really don’t understand anyone who says it was boring.
Loved this video too…. Hilarious…. Keep ‘em coming dude
Thanks man! 🙌🏽
10:27 Yes! Please make more content like this. Excellent story telling, analysis, and editing.
I look forward to more videos.
Thank you! 🙌🏽
I stopped watching this video at the spoiler alert. Thanks for the tip, I will check it out after I get caught up! Looking forward to it
No worries! See you back here after you’ve enjoyed the show 😎
Lots of other video essayists clearly know Dedra and Mon Mothma are best girls but you actually had the guts to say it.
2:36 No. I will not take this Ezra slander. You leave my boy alone, he is a fantastic character.
There is *nothing* under the Star Wars lable that's on the same level as Andor. Literally nothing. Such an incredible show.
My man how do you not have more subscribers, incredible video! You just got yourself another subscriber
Best slow show ever
Wow, this dude really hates Bix... Sure, she was lying to Timm, but she *was* running a criminal enterprise (funneling black market parts to the nascent Rebellion) and had ties to Luthen. It makes perfect sense that she would want to keep Timm-With-Two-M's out of the loop -- he clearly doesn't know about her off-the-books deals -- but that comes back to bite them all on the ass when he drops the dime on Cassian out of jealousy. And then she spent the better part of a day looking at his cooling corpse on the stairs.
Bro, whatever you're doing, film/SW-analyzing, KEEP IT UP. I'm in a caprisanh deep dive and LOVING it.
So grateful you're producing such great commentary content. Seems like you're producing really thoughtful art (what you KEEP criticizing some other SW content for). Your humor doesn't hurt either.
Can't wait for more, brother! Take your time!
Thanks man! Really appreciate all your support 🙌🏽
Star Wars as science fiction. Easily among the best futuristic dystopian scifi to hit the small screen.
4:34 Same bro ...
Real shit ......
We didnt see them at the end of the finale so u know Karn how some of that Dedra cussy ....
Totally agree. I’ve always said a Star Wars story about rebel or imperial soldiers on the front lines of battle would be amazing.
Andor made me love and wait(while boeing hyped) for new star wars again!
its easily better than the mandalorian
The Mandalorian, Andor, and Rogue One are easily some of the best Star Wars media.
Oh this show greatly surprised me. I love this show so dang much! I need more.
ive said it before and ill say it again: andor is the breaking bad of star wars
This is also the first time in Star Wars I ever heard somebody say, "Oh my god" - even though we did get a strange reference with Han in episode 5 when he said, "Then I'll see you in hell!" After he went out into the Blizzard to find Luke.
The beginning of the first episode was really cool
Also that one girl you hate is bad asf I like her
In my opinion, Andor is the best SW show (or content for that matter) by far.
It is better than Mandalorian. It's the best thing we got since Empire Strikes Back.
100% The best star wars show EVER!
[plus Brasso headbutts a fricking stormtrooper.]
and B2EMo has more character and better dialogue than any Mandalorian or even Kenobi.
I imagine he would recharge all night so that when he projects her hologram ther is no "pause for dddata lag" aand when the trooper tips him on his side you can actually see the confusion and fear in his 'expression' - and it is THIS ATTENTION TO DETAIL that makes Andor Star Wars Perfection as you so wonderfully put it.
thanks for your great video
i think the mandalorian is really fun to watch but andor is a love letter to starwars
Can't wait for the appearance of K2SO. That's going to be fun.
Personally, I am glad that they showed another planet besides Tatooine.
Andor does infact taste delicious 😂
I love so much Andor i made a Rôleplay Game with my friend in the tone of Andor.
Such an incredible show and what a great break down of it! This channel is like Jedha from Rogue, it's a about to blow up! (I mean that in a good way)
Haha thank you! I love this comment 😂
@@caprisanh2845 To further prove my point, when I started watching this video this morning your channel was at 1.06k, now I see 1.18k! That's incredible! I hope you keep making these types of videos!
Great point about how amazing it is to pull off this storytelling feat within the parameters of Mouse-auwitz. Give Gilroy a movie!
you got beef with bix you got beef with me
The Mandalorian is epic.
Loved it since Roge One... Star Wars for smart young/adults !!
"Space Loid Forger" best line in the video!
I was afraid no one would catch that haha 😂
I thought the Mandelorian captured the same mood and feel of the original trilogy, but this eclipsed it by far. No silly kid shit, it’s literally dragging on your soul on how powerful and suffocating the Empire was (AND SHOULD BE). Everything was done just perfectly, and it was a slow burn to a great outcome.
This kind of content makes me sign up for streaming services because it is just that good
I cannot recommend this show enough!
Best Star Wars. Period
Some people won't see it this way, but I do mean it as a compliment: Andor was the Game of Thrones of Star Wars 👌🏻
Straight facts 👊🏽
My brother in christ, you're right about bix, dont compare to the absolute fucking chad that brasso is
Do I think Andor is better than the Mandalorian???
Great video on Andor just have to say gorge Lucuas wanted Star Wars to be able for kids to see to. Of course Star Wars can have dark Themes but it shouldn’t go in to a rated r route
I'd buy that little droid all the upgrades
